One thing that I haven't heard anyone talk about is his previous video where he was hiding at an airport and then approached random pilots to try and hitch a ride in their planes. As pilots we are taught to watch out for suspicious behavior like that and let me tell you, that raised every red flag for me. That is a perfect scenario for a possible terrorist hijacker situation to happen. Even with just a small plane, someone with bad intentions can do a lot of harm. If he had emerged from the shadows at an airport, asking me for a ride, I would have called the airport authorities and police. When I found out he was a pilot himself, I couldn't believe he would be such a scumbag, knowingly going against every bit of aviation etiquette for some UA-cam views. And that was a long time before his infamous stunt. The warning signs were there from the beginning.

He was considering the risk of wildfire. That means he had some semblance of safety. My idea of an appropriate penalty is to suspend his pilot license for one year, and require some counseling or awareness training to tell him, hey this could be really dangerous, the plane could hit people or property or start a fire, and even though he cleaned up the wreck there's no way he didn't leave a few scraps and that pollutes the sensitive mountain wilderness environment.

Everyone that knows him in the flight and parachuting community hate him, including his own family and the few friends he has all despise him.
Facts, literally any plane can glide after losing power and even helicopters have a form of gliding that they can use to safely land after engine failure. That is why there is zero excuse for what Trevor did and why it stank of bullshit even to non-pilots from the getgo. The fact that non-pilots knew it was fake from the start just goes to show how obvious it is, considering how the average person has pretty much zero knowledge on aviation.
@@JohnDoeWasntTakenactually, if you lose power to the rear Rotor in a helicopter you lost control and it just... spins. You have no way to stabilize on the X axis (Or z axis? Not sure) so you just spin. There's a good reason why you don't see helicopters with only 1 rotor, they all have at least 2.
The biggest part of being a pilot is being the person who is responsible. You can learn everything there is to learn about flying from simulators and books. What separates an actual pilot from someone who knows about flying is that a pilot is taking the responsibility to do everything by the book and take the blame if something goes wrong. Trevor had some of the worst judgement a pilot could have.
@@jessicamerriman2336 And in an emergency situation, to do (almost) the inverse of that. Aviate, navigate, then (if possible) communicate, because in emergency situations we sometimes don't have the time or the mental capacity to communicate with ATC while handling the emergency, or to check navigation instruments. First priority is always to aviate and fly the plane.
There was also a camera mounted behind the pilot’s seat pointing right at the dashboard, in the perfect spot to capture the cause of failure. Out of all of the cameras on that plane, that’s the only one he couldn’t recover any video from.

He only admitted it because admitted the truth was part of this, as well as most plea deals. He’d probably still be lying about it if he wasn’t forced to tell the truth.
That’s how the law works. Sounds stupid, everything might be obvious, but if you admit guilt it makes the case so much easier for the judge and everyone else. They can say “yup you admitted case closed. Next” But if you keep saying you’re not guilty, the law has to prove that you’re 100% guilty. Even then if you keep saying you’re not guilty, even if they charge you, and you go to jail, once you come out you could hire a lawyer to have those charges either dropped (if possible) or lower to a lesser charge. So from a felony to a misdemeanor. It takes a LOT of time as well as money, but at least you won’t be stuck with a felony charge for the rest of your life. Once you sign a paper admitting your guilty as part of a plea deal you’re stuck with that responsibility for the rest of your life. He’s probably scared and his lawyer clearly sucks. He’s gonna go to jail no matter what. The government probably hit him with the old school “you’re facing 50+ years of jail for this, but if you take this plea deal, and sign right here that you’re 100% GUILTY, the max sentence you’ll be facing is 12 years. The judge won’t be able to see this deal until the end of the trial. So if he says “go to jail for 40 years” he will then proceed to open this folder and see that the max you’ll be facing is 12”
I hope he gets some jail time - maybe not 20 years - but there used to be a few words called "repercussions" and "consequences" that no longer mean anything in this modern age. A world without consequences for committing a felony - something that seems to have trickled down from the top recently - is not one any decent human being wants to live in. It's scary.

@@evanendres8415 Maintaining control over the aircraft is the most important thing. We are drilled to constantly be looking for places to land if we have an engine out or any other emergency. If you lose control of that aircraft and people die, get injured, or lose property it’s your responsibility. And then parachutes are expensive, bulky, and have to be packed within 90-180 days of their use depending on the material.
Honestly the FAA doesn't fuck around. They're the ATF of the sky they won't shoot your dog, but they'll ground your ass and put you in prison faster than you can say "Possible Pilot Deviation".
I'm a pilot and in the area where he jumped out there are 3+ airports that he could've tried to make it to without an engine. Even if he couldn't make it, during initial pilot training students are DRILLED about always looking for areas where you could possibly land in case of an engine failure and use our checklists, which he obviously didn't even try to do. He played stupid in one of the most regulated games in the world.
Big oof. The FAA is harsh enough as it is, they'll hold you at gunpoint for sneezing in the cockpit. I can't imagine the absolute wrath he's facing now. Dude's life is ruined. He's probably going to reincarnate and they're gonna find him again and still make him pay. They are ruthless.
A landmark day in aviation history! That particular plane has a stall speed of like 40 mph... Turns into a glider without engine power, more than capable of landing... A modern day Cessna 172 which can also do this has a stall speed around 65mph for reference. Stall speed is essentially the minimum speed required before it goes nose down.
The lack of any attempt to land the plane or solve the problem was more of a red flag. Especially since this is what 90% of your flight training consists of. Anyone that has ever spent time around airplanes easily saw this was an amateur stunt attempt well before he left the plane.
Finally this Man is getting what he deserves, or honestly probably better than he deserves, crashing a plane is no joke, what pisses me off the most however is how long it took for this to go through

6:03 the video was intended to be sponsored by Razor wallets and was initially shown with them as a sponsor, but I think within a week the host pulled and editted mention of them out and reposted. There was also a few airstrips in gliding range of where his 'engine failure' occured but made no restart attempts nor use the radio to send an alert (aircraft had an antenna) before bailing.
On your left and right are the emergency exits to the plane. In the event of a crash, make sure you keep your cameras rolling and your selfie stick to hand so we can get some good angles
That just for 2 of his state charges. He has like 13 more felony charges coming, and not including like 2 dozen federal charges, 3-5 of which carry 10+ year minimum sentences. He's looking at a minimum of 20+ years state and 40+ federal according to some experienced lawyers. The book will be thrown at him, and it will come to no surprise if there will be 80+ years worth of charges, and some asking for life in prison. Regardless of what will happen, he's going to prison for the rest of his life.
He bailed out of the aircraft with a literal fire extinguisher hidden in his trouser leg, he also stopped the prop and made literally no attempt to restart the engine, this was *turbo* obvious and he deserves all the punishment he will get. Since he is on a plea deal he will *probably* not see prison, but regardless he is being punished at least
I don’t know about you, but the first thing we learn in flight school is to always strap a fire extinguisher to our leg, bail at the first sign of trouble, and record ourselves on the way down

You need special licensing, permission from the FAA to get clearance, and ATC to approve that kind of stunt.

If a propeller plane's engine loses power, you can still glide it to a nearby field and land safely.
that’s the case for any plane.
He had 3, that's right THREE, airports he could have landed safely to according to his flight data. He has no excuse, he purposely crash landed an airplane, which is dangerously close to terrorist with a plane territory. Glad this stupid MF is going to prison for the rest of his miserable life. @@moonlion7047 Aviation Machinist Mate here, yes, ANY plane, even single props and Heavy C130s have glide capabilities "My G" it's HOW THEY FLY

Agree. We are taught not to panic, but navigate, communicate and aviate.
I believe that every career job or skill should be ruled by that philosophy.
As a licensed skydiver myself, I prefer to not be the pilot while exiting the plane
This whole situation is a great example how negatively social media can effect us
There was also a camera mounted behind the pilot’s seat pointing right at the dashboard, in the perfect spot to capture the cause of failure. Out of all of the cameras on that plane, that’s the only one he couldn’t recover any video from.

Shocking that it took this long just for him to admit something so obvious.
Next”
But if you keep saying you’re not guilty, the law has to prove that you’re 100% guilty.
It's scary.
