Like Rick said, I think part of the reason why this Live Action adaptation is so good is the spirit and enthusiasm. The showrunner is a One Piece superfan, along with a lot of the cast, and made sure that Eichiro Oda was heavily involved with the series. He wanted to get it right because he knows how many people care about this. I wish more adaptations had that kind of passion behind it
Exactly. Oda sensei refused to give rights to make live acton unless he have lots of rights including picking actors and actresses. One piece was Oda sensei's child and he didn't give it to someone to make nightmare like other live actions.
As someone that always wanted to watch One Piece but never did due to the sheer amount of content I am SO GLAD this is living up to the expectations of the fans. It's very clear that care an attention has been paid and that Netflix has backed them with a decent budget. The visuals are ridiculously good.

When in water a devil fruit user loses their strenght, so they cant move properly, however they can still use their abilities to some degree, Luffy can still stretch because is body is still made of rubber even in seawater
now watching it again i am remembering that i thought it was just fine for a reason and the couple of things they cut are a couple of my favourite parts of these arcs and the big fight that they didnt have time for that should be coming soon is one of my favourite fights in the whole anime but they also did great things like having shanks crew fight and it was a brief but good fight. so i have very mixed feelings about this show, think overall it evens out at a positive and i hope you guys like it
welp someone probably already mentioned it but hilarious fun fact: Buggy's power does indeed work on his private parts lmao Oda himself confirmed in an interview or when he was asked.
This isn't really something Oda addressed until probably next season, but it's never directly stated in the manga or anime runtime, only in an SBS, so I don't think it is considered a spoiler. But ALL water comes from the sea, so if there is enough still water (not flowing rivers, rain, etc.) that covers (I believe) a third of a Devil Fruit user, it will still affect them incrementally. More water = weaker DF user.
I just found out that One Piece is shot in Cape Town South Africa while the marine base is shot in Italy, so the Baratie, Ship Yard and whatever have bee n right under my nose. which is interesting because if i had to sail out into the Ocean from that Dock I would 100% run into real life Pirates. ///////Look at me, I am the Captain .

God, I love Ward's performance as Buggy! Easily one of my favorites of the live action and that's not knocking anyone really since I loved pretty much everyone!
I like that the fights arent drawn out. Katakuri vs Luffy put a damper for me with the animee, i would hate to see fights drawn in adaptation when they already get so little time
luffy has a limit to how much he can stretch. according to word of oda in a Q&A section of the manga, luffy can stretch 500 gum-gums. that's his limit. he can't stretch a gum-gum more. what does that mean? good question.

I can't believe we live in a timeline where the One Piece live action adaptation is pretty good (so far)
the "many episode fights" in the anime are due to its horrendous pacing to drag stuff out it doesn't take that long in the manga and thats what this show is going from even though yes some stuff was cut out that was in the manga
I'm so obsessed
When in water a devil fruit user loses their strenght, so they cant move properly, however they can still use their abilities to some degree, Luffy can still stretch because is body is still made of rubber even in seawater
Choo choo!! Excited to see this!! :)
buggy is so cute!!!!!
I always find it funny watching anime watchers watch Garp with non anime watchers. It must be so painful. 🤣
if you wanna know how Shanks does anything just assume he's OP because he is 😂
You sort of see same powers since the one of the themes is that many fruits have their uber versions.
now watching it again i am remembering that i thought it was just fine for a reason and the couple of things they cut are a couple of my favourite parts of these arcs and the big fight that they didnt have time for that should be coming soon is one of my favourite fights in the whole anime but they also did great things like having shanks crew fight and it was a brief but good fight. so i have very mixed feelings about this show, think overall it evens out at a positive and i hope you guys like it
Love the live action of this anime
welp someone probably already mentioned it but hilarious fun fact: Buggy's power does indeed work on his private parts lmao Oda himself confirmed in an interview or when he was asked.
There are quite a few pp related questions in the SBS
It's not Buggy booms it's Buggy balls
Very big balls
These thumbnails are crazy good
Well Devil Fruits users can still use their powers in water, it just makes them weak/unable to swim
Y’all NEED to watch Blue Eye Samurai
How the hell did this episode work in live action?? And I kept saying this all the way to the end of the season...
Yeah, if they have water up to their hips they lose their strength and can't stand anymore.
But it also works with water.
All I could say the power Shanks used is NOT A DEVIL FRUIT. :) it's a different power. Hope by next season they can explain that.
Is there a way to watch the Hunter Hunter reactions anymore? The new website only has the discussion and not the reaction. I was halfway through the series and now I cant figure out how to finish.
Shanks Nat 20 on intimidation check
I don't know how far Rick is in the anime but this season does contain spoilers for ep. 313 of the Anime.
It's a cellular snail, or snail phone.
Awesome reaction
Their planet is ten times the size of Earth. Mostly water except the strip of land ( the Red Line) that encircles the globe. The rest are large and small Islands.
God, I love Ward's performance as Buggy! Easily one of my favorites of the live action and that's not knocking anyone really since I loved pretty much everyone!
minor spoilers but shanks and buggy's friendship is actually heart aching 😢
We gonna enjoy this fox❤
Yes, a new episode.
I like that the fights arent drawn out. Katakuri vs Luffy put a damper for me with the animee, i would hate to see fights drawn in adaptation when they already get so little time
This was fun
Ep 2 had a little mess-up in writing for Zoro..but it was definitely on the Up Graph of the Season.
luffy has a limit to how much he can stretch.
according to word of oda in a Q&A section of the manga, luffy can stretch 500 gum-gums. that's his limit. he can't stretch a gum-gum more.
what does that mean?
good question.
