Just finished the show, it was amazing! Very different but i liked how they handled it. 61 Episodes of Season 1 in just 8 Episodes and it stills deliver. I hope they will explain more of the wolrd in future seasons. The whole world and story of One Piece is very complicated and can be very confusing. Great reaction guys🎉
Great video, guys! As you may have noticed, Buggy is kind of like Luffy's opposite number. Whereas Luffy can just soak up damage from most blunt force attacks, Buggy is mostly immune to being sliced and cut. So even though this fight with him was kind of short, there's a good chance you'll see him again. Buggy's powers are much the same as in the anime/manga but there seems to be a crucial difference. In the original, the only part of him that can't float in mid-air is his feet. He can still control them individually from all his other parts, but they have to stay on the ground -- he can only make them walk, not fly. In the manga, Luffy notices that and uses it against him. The thing to remember about the sea is that it acts like kryptonite to all Devil Fruit users. None of them can swim, and contact with standing seawater not only robs them of their powers, but also weakens them physically. And no, Shanks hasn't eaten a Devil Fruit. His encounter with that sea monster is something to file away for later, though.
God, it can't be overstated what an incredibly good job Jeff Ward did bringing Buggy The Clown to life... he absolutely captures the spirit of the character but brings his own spin to it and it works perfectly for the adaptation
great reaction guys..im literally just waiting for this channel to react to ep 2, bc i as a one peace fans really love your first ep reaction, it feels like more genuine for me..
The best thing about this adaptation is that it invokes the same emotions that every one piece anime watcher or manga reader once experienced be it the emotions of Luffy, zoro, buggy etc or the charisma of shanks and to top it all we have 1st time watchers going into the theory domain. That's so one piece. Thanks for reacting.
Great stuff you two! Thanks for sharing your experience watching this, love that you two aren't super familiar with the anime and that this is gaining a greater audience.
One of the most beautiful thing about One Piece is how Luffy chooses his 'Nakama' (crewmates/comrades/friends) and how each of his crewmate becomes Luffy's friend in so many diverse ways.. how Luffy makes them realize that what they really can do with thier will. Luffy makes friends in such a way that they love luffy so deeply and vice versa! One piece makes you realize the beauty of true friendships!
The snails are called Den den mushi's or transponder snails. Its a fun idea cause in the world of One Piece, snails can telepathically talk to each other. In this unique world, they have domesticated the snails and utilized their telepathic signals as phones. It's like how we domesticated the way we did horses.
19:00 "We can take their ships, their weapons, and even their lives! But we cannot take... their FREEDOM!" You can't help but make a Braveheart reference at this.
Just a few things: 1) Rubber can't bounce knives. That's not really a weakness, but it's one of the things he's NOT immune to. The reasons guns don't work are because the guns are old-style matchlocks, where they're firing balls, not bullets. 2) Luffy's actor is messing with me. In short clips, it feels like he's got like 3 different accents. When he's talking normally, when he pronounces his name, and when he calls out his attacks (which actually sounds pretty close to the JP voices). 3) If this is making you tear up, I strongly recommend the anime. Anytime that xylophone-solo plays, the tears are a-comin'.
@@LFNZE Not a big deal, because in chapter 1 in the manga it's obvious that it is not a devil fruit. Let's go with, he just intimidated the monster with his strength.
I'm absolutely loving seeing new viewers react to this show EXACTLY the same way we did back in the day with the manga/anime. This show is just too good! NOW people are starting to get a taste of what makes this story so popular and so loved by it's fans.
Funny thing about Shanks, the fan base has waited over 20 years to finally see Shanks DO something in the manga 😆 Maybe we'll get more Shanks in the Live action
it's fun to see the reactions of people new to One Piece. the adaptation is the best i've ever seen, and so true to the spirit of the source material. Everyone is giving it their all in front and behind the camera and you can feel it as a fan. This series is a fantastic entry point to this world.
One of the coolest things about One piece is that there is more long term payoff than in almost any other story ever created. Most of the stuff in the story, in terms of plot points and characters will come back in ways you wont expect, which makes it super fun. The world building is just fantastic on top. One of the most wonderful fantasy worlds. Definitely my favorite world ever created :) Glad you like the Live action
*It was amazing how well they did Buggy's powers* 😁 The crazy powers is one instance of worry I had if they could pull off, and while there is one character I still don't know if they can manage to do because of just how much CGI it would need (considering this isn't a movie, I wonder if the budget would be enough), the fact that the Bara Bara no Mi (Chop Chop Fruit in english) was so well done gives me confidence they can do most of the powers. *And there's some pretty insane out there!*
I don’t know if anyone else said this, but the big snail thing is a Den Den Mushi! They’re living creatures that are used as phones in the One Piece world. The ones they used in the live action were actual puppets!!!! I love practical effects so much
The Straw Hats are not just a crew…..they are family. It’s something you definitely will feel from the manga and anime. The live action so far is doing a decent job so far with the One Piece story given the limited budget and episodes they have. Hopefully season 2 is greenlit because……the big journey is just starting. If you stick around, you will see all the things in these earlier episodes become more clear and expanded upon.
luffy is a man of sheer will, determination and purity of heart. his pure love for being a pirate makes him stronger. in the anime, we saw it many times, there were fights he won just because he did not give up and wanted to win more than his opponent.
😆The way Jabby gave that face when the clowns head got knocked off took my out lol. And I've just finished the whole series man I enjoyed it I can't wait till ya watch the rest of the episodes ya gonna love it that's all I'm gonna say 👌🏽😌
About the snail phone or Den Den mushi: Den Den Mushi are a species of telepathic snail that serves as a means of vocal and/or visual communication across the world. They are classified as type "B" creatures, being "Small Friendly". They possess a mysterious capability to engage in telepathic communication with one another across extensive distances, ostensibly facilitated by electronic signals. Additionally, they possess the remarkable ability to flawlessly replicate speech, including the intonations and cadences of individual voices. Casting Jeff Ward as Buggy was a surprise, i wonder what Oda's reaction would be like seeing his audition tape considering Buggy is his favorite character...
Basically, in the seawater, the user loses their powers when they are almost up to their knees (although someone else can use their abilities, like another person stretching Luffy's head out of the cage to allow him to breathe), and when it's up to their chest, the user can barely move. Also, it does not affect them when it's raining.
one piece is soo deep and so much story to tell that I wonder how they will incorporate it in the live action. I just hope they dont skip some important things as teh show goes on
That was a fun episode and when I saw the Buggy potato head I laughed so hard. 🤣 Buggy is one of my Top 5 favorite villains in One Piece because he always cracks me up with is hilarious personality. I love how this show and the anime hits you in the feels. That to me is what makes a show, movie or anime great is if it can make you feel something and care about the characters. Enjoyed the reaction 👍👍✌out.
regarding you wanting more from the fight between buggy and luffy: the anime version has a much longer fight with him (as it takes multiple episodes to dealwith buggy there) and he gets to do a lot more with his powers over all.(we also get some really funny gags, like him tryig to dodge an attack by splitting from his body only for luffy to kick him in the balls XP)
@Meepie_Playz Explain how people liking the live action "ruins" the original. Nothing is "ruined". The original still exists, just go watch it if you're so mad about the live action.
When you were talking about wanting to see more that bridges the gap between luffy as this fiery kid vs the more carefree adult, there is more to it in the source material that influenced him, but not too much. The major influence on Luffy was Shanks and you already begin to see child luffy maturing and changing at the end of the episode when he realizes he isn't ready. This is the defining moment that made Shanks a role model for him, and changed him from a fiery kid who picks fights over his own pride, to someone who only uses his strength to protect those who are in need or matter to him.
The scene of the passing of the straw hat has been as iconic to the manganime world as the "I am your father" scene is to the filmmaking world. Jaby's reaction is what all of us felt some 20+years ago. Glad to see you guys being part of the family, now.
Hey Jaby, if a person eats a devil fruit in One Piece then the sea takes their powers meaning, they lose everything including ability to swim. and they cant use their devil fruit abilities. Please consider that this first season covers stories published in the manga between 1997 and 1999. The story is ongoing today, in 2023, and it can be reasonably expected to go on for roughly 5 more years (according to a prediction from the author).
Great reaction guys🎉
are u sure its 61..I think its just 44, since no loguetown here.
"I hope we could see Shanks fight".
Welcome to the club mate. We have been waiting for 20yrs
🤣🤣🤣
This show is a show with people and those people play different characters and i like it lol thanks for your reactions
I adore Buggy in this show, Jeff Ward did an amazing job. They did my boy Shanks justice. I loved this episode.
It’s so nice to see so many people enjoying the one piece journey
I know Buggy is pretty evil here, but the character is just so fun and the actor really nailed it! Him and 1 other are my favorites of the show
the emotional beats are very on point in this adaptation. now imagine the animanga hitting them even more. i love it!
No man, you two can't start crying here😭🤣🤣you better be ready for the next chapters🤣
I cried like 4 times with this show even tho I already knew what was coming, god damn it.
Why am I so happy when I see reactors cry in these things (he says as someone cuts onions in his room)😅
Seeing shanks in action is like getting a rare Pokemon Card😂😂 Still anime fans have not seen him fighting but manga fans has seen his power
But we cannot take... their FREEDOM!"
You can't help but make a Braveheart reference at this.
One Piece live action is out now all the bandwagons can watch it instead of the actual accurate anime. That’s crazy
@@Meepie_Playzyou really went and replied to every single comment with this comment? Get a life dude
Not devil fruit but a different power :) I hope if there is a second season I hope they explain that power. Won't spoil about that
Even in the season 2 , the "power" will not been explain. The real explain happen in 3D2Y. (i try not to spoil)
don't spoil that, delete lol , let them think it is a devil fruit my guy
@@pabloesco2007they might reveal that with smoker powers in S2, smoker can't be hurt normally way with out (H)
@@LFNZE Not a big deal, because in chapter 1 in the manga it's obvious that it is not a devil fruit.
Let's go with, he just intimidated the monster with his strength.
they are not reading the manga you dummy, they are watching the live action and in the live action that isnt mentioned@@benediktmathes2528
I'm absolutely loving seeing new viewers react to this show EXACTLY the same way we did back in the day with the manga/anime. This show is just too good!
NOW people are starting to get a taste of what makes this story so popular and so loved by it's fans.
9:20 "WHAT? JUST? HAPPENED?"
The epitome of every non-fan's reaction to that scene.
Calling out how alike Buggy and Luffy are is a very good understanding of what the source material you are going to love one piece welcome aboard
“I wasn’t expecting to cry…” every one piece fan ever xD
Jaby s gonna be pleasantly surprised by how much buggy appears later on 🎉❤😂
*It was amazing how well they did Buggy's powers* 😁
The crazy powers is one instance of worry I had if they could pull off, and while there is one character I still don't know if they can manage to do because of just how much CGI it would need (considering this isn't a movie, I wonder if the budget would be enough), the fact that the Bara Bara no Mi (Chop Chop Fruit in english) was so well done gives me confidence they can do most of the powers.
One Piece live action is out now all the bandwagons can watch it instead of the actual accurate anime. That’s crazy
@@Meepie_Playz Aah I see, he's just a copy paste troll
Ah yes, family, just like Dom toerreto would've wanted
That is defintly true, although not until a tiny bit later, which I would say either after the Arlong Arc or the water seven arc
luffy is a man of sheer will, determination and purity of heart. his pure love for being a pirate makes him stronger. in the anime, we saw it many times, there were fights he won just because he did not give up and wanted to win more than his opponent.
Beauty of op, making you fall in love in it's 1st episode itself. Best is yet to come.
😆The way Jabby gave that face when the clowns head got knocked off took my out lol. And I've just finished the whole series man I enjoyed it I can't wait till ya watch the rest of the episodes ya gonna love it that's all I'm gonna say 👌🏽😌
Ohh you're in for a treat 😂, I love people who i care about, care about things I love, love your reaction guys❤
About the snail phone or Den Den mushi:
Den Den Mushi are a species of telepathic snail that serves as a means of vocal and/or visual communication across the world.
One Piece live action is out now all the bandwagons can watch it instead of the actual accurate anime. That’s crazy
yes they don't loose the power but the strength to use the power.
Your faces when Blinky, I mean Boogie, wait, Buggy:s head flew off 🤣🤣
I love your reactions to One Piece so far, my favorite on youtube.
"And a crew that will always have each other's backs" because I know the whole story... this makes me tear up EVERY TIME.
I love watching Achara's reaction! Subscribed!
We waited decades for Shanks to fight 😂
And Buggy is one of the fandom’s fav characters in OP 😎
Ive been waiting for this!!! Ill be on your train until episode 8
Jaby, the idea is that Buggy doesn’t really know how to use his powers. He kinda hates them
That is the magic of one piece. You feel happy, your heart is so full and you feel free. Its not just a story, one piece is real. ❤
one piece is soo deep and so much story to tell that I wonder how they will incorporate it in the live action. I just hope they dont skip some important things as teh show goes on
Jaby , we are so excited to see you reacting to anime 😊( live adaptation of one piece )
Btw the Admirals full name is Monkey D. Garp.😁
Jabs went through a process with "Its just an arm", collecting himself.
I finally saw the wanted signed inside the safe for Kuro. Great reaction!
Jaby crying ....thats the best part❤
That was a fun episode and when I saw the Buggy potato head I laughed so hard. 🤣 Buggy is one of my Top 5 favorite villains in One Piece because he always cracks me up with is hilarious personality. I love how this show and the anime hits you in the feels. That to me is what makes a show, movie or anime great is if it can make you feel something and care about the characters.
Enjoyed the reaction 👍👍✌out.
I'm excited for you guys to watch until the last ep. You have gtreat analogy and takes! lots of love from OP fans. realness overload
"I was hoping to see Shanks fight"
Yeah man, we've all been waiting for that, for the last 25 years 😭😭
Nice detail adding the dilating pupil for the sea king
regarding you wanting more from the fight between buggy and luffy: the anime version has a much longer fight with him (as it takes multiple episodes to dealwith buggy there) and he gets to do a lot more with his powers over all.(we also get some really funny gags, like him tryig to dodge an attack by splitting from his body only for luffy to kick him in the balls XP)
The snails are all telepathically connected with each other and hence can be used as long distance communication
When a non manga reader and anime watcher enjoy the live action, then it's a good live action adaptation
One Piece live action is out now all the bandwagons can watch it instead of the actual accurate anime, Bandwagons ruin everything.
@@Meepie_Playzbandwagons are the only reason why some people are even interested in the original source material. It can be useful.
season 2 will take time so all these people will move to manga or anime that's big W for one piece.
@Meepie_Playz Explain how people liking the live action "ruins" the original. Nothing is "ruined". The original still exists, just go watch it if you're so mad about the live action.
lmao, you guys are in for a hell of a ride
14:47 Yes Achara, Shanks did chat with it🥹
This is my favorite show. I don't know anything about Anime and I binged this, it's so good.
You are correct Achara the casting here is solid. They made good comparision to anime
11:05 I wasn't looking at the screen, and I heard the same voice twice, turns out Jaby did voice mimicry spot on.
The scene of the passing of the straw hat has been as iconic to the manganime world as the "I am your father" scene is to the filmmaking world.
Jaby's reaction is what all of us felt some 20+years ago.
Glad to see you guys being part of the family, now.
Oh I wish I could watch the show like you guys.... without any prior knowledge about this world.......but I'm happy I'm reliving those moments again
Jaby can make a sketch of using "Get Lost" while getting mad at someone, for the laughs.
Hey Jaby, if a person eats a devil fruit in One Piece then the sea takes their powers meaning, they lose everything including ability to swim. and they cant use their devil fruit abilities.
Also about the shanks power, you'll have to continue the show to find of his power. (No he's not a devil fruit user)
I thought Shanks was a devil fruit eater but now after reading the comments, he's not? I am curious about his power can you give me a spoiler?
@@shraddha29 Are you sure you want a spoiler? But if you really do, here it is:
His power is something called haki, it is a mysterious power that exists in all living things, but only a few have access to, and able to manipulate and control it.
@@TheAssassinlord123 Oh thanks, that's interesting. I'll look into it a bit more. Spoilers makes me enjoy the story more so I don't really mind them u know.
i think you nailed it, when you brought up the paralells with buggy and luffy. they even have similar name shemes. While Shanks gave Luffy a dream and a purpose, he took away the dream of buggy in betraying him. They are polar opposite rivals
okay guys the snail phones are called "den den mushi" "transponder snails"
Please consider that this first season covers stories published in the manga between 1997 and 1999.
The story is ongoing today, in 2023, and it can be reasonably expected to go on for roughly 5 more years (according to a prediction from the author).
Not all of them, but some of these characters are present in the story today, in 2023.
That's something to keep in mind when you think about resolving personal storylines. 😉
The Buggy actor and the live action scarier depiction is just amazing
This is awesome. People not previously acquaintanted with OP viewing it and enjoying it. Nice. For us oldies who've been on the OP train for 20 years it's nice to see.
