Monster Hunter Rise Review (For People Who Haven't Played a Monster Hunter Game Before)

- In this Monster Hunter Rise review I'll explain what the appeal of the game is, what's new in Monster Hunter Rise specifically, as well as what's put newcomers off from trying Monster Hunter in the past, and what Rise does to try and help with that. If you've never played a Monster Hunter game before, hopefully by the end of the review you'll understand whether you'd like to play the game or not!

Been playing for almost 10 years, and I must say its always nice to find friendly videos like this one. I remember back then the community had a very friendly and supportive reputation, so seeing people keep that alive instead of getting lost in the hype fest and the run to get the most views as the series gets more popular is always a pleasure.
That said, as long as Gaijin's around, we'll be fine hahaha

Having had played since the very beginning it makes me happy to see the game getting the recognition it needed. Found rise a lil easy but nothing to complain about and think it makes a good entry game since its more streamlined.
Great review! Discovered channel through blasphemous review based from some algorithm recommendations after some light research. Changed my mind about the game totally. Picking it up on a sale for switch. Found it so good I subbed instantly and am checking out the rest of the reviews. Never understood the monster hunter series and you broke it down really really well. Love the channel. Thank you.

I realized when I was fighting somnacanth that I can wirebug over one of its attacks (sleep ring) but I always panick and forget to do it lol
Honestly i tried the rise demo before and it felt just like all other monster hunter games to me: slow and confusing. But the thing is i absolutely love the idea of the main games of monster hunter and i loved playing the demo for stories 1 but i never bought that either, but i have now bought stories 2 and now i am atleast considering to get rise to give it another go because the hunting of a monster to then go see what armor and weapons i can get is such a great feeling. And at the very least i get 2 twin girld saying ara ara to me and an outfit for stories 2 that looks pretty cool.

@@Bethynaee havent bought the dlc nor have I actually beat the main story after all this time. Partially because I knew about the final monsters and didnt really care too much to finish it. That being said I def have like 200 hours hunting monsters I do like and was tempted to get the dlc for astalos alone. It was fun though I got the hang of it eventually

I love Monster Hunter. My first was World, then I played Rise and recently started Generation Ultimate.
If there's one thing I dislike about Rise, it's the wirebugs who let you go outside of zones and "corridors". Well, not the mechanic itself. It is pretty cool. But because you can go outside of zones, the decor has much less details, wich make maps a little bit "uglier" if I can say it like that. It doesn't change anything to the gameplay, but for exemple in World where there are alot of details, it really gives you the feeling of being in the middle of nature while hunting, not just arenas surrounded by cliffs. Rise is still a very fun game tho!
i really hope every monster hunter serries was my first monster hunter experience...
i remember how scaries is rathian and rathalos in PS2... in monster hunter world nah even seeing safi jiiva for the first time not like in the first time on PS2.

I really appreciate this last bit (10:50) because while I think Rise is a great game, I just can´t seem to get into Monster Hunter. Even with all the changes done, I still feel a bit overwhelmed by the amount of weapons and the crafting for better gear. Perhaps I just didn´t played long enough for it to get good but in the end I moved on to something else. Maybe I´ll give it another go someday but who knows.
All that said, excellent review.
Or maybe u just need a friend to play with xD. In my case tho, one day my friend told me “hey, wanna be a hunter ?” And boom it’s been 5 years now and i never reget saying yes :)))
May I ask how you deal so much with the base ZL plus x slikbind, I can’t figure that out
If you are talking about the soaring kick with longsword, you can press zr in the air to do bigger slash. It does use one level of your spirit gauge though

I feel pity fo MHRise as right now it is in the same state as base MHWorld.
I just started Rise and have enjoyed my time so far. From all the comments i have read about World and rise comparison, people don't realize that it is pretty unfair to compare base Rise to MHW: Iceborne
Who carea really, they just stupid. Sunbreak comes next month its almost here!!!
It's an issue of selective memory and they themselves being new to the series as a whole.

Monster hunter games are just much better souls game. So if you enjoyed dark souls 3, time for you to try the real deal.
