I’m so excited for “monster hunter 6 / world 2” whatever that ends up being. As a western player who’s been a fan since the first game World was what I had been hoping for prior to 2018. I prefer playing on devoted home consoles and World just tied together so many things I wished they’d do with the series for so long. Now that the series has gained a major following I can’t wait to see what’s released as a successor to World. Hopefully with alphabetically organized decoration lists lol
@Stayn Initial d there are 2 teams that make MH games, the ‘A’ team and ‘B’ team. A team makes the console titles and B team makes the titles on portable consoles. Rise was made by the B team, while World was made by A team, the same way that MHGU was made by B team after A team made MH4U. Rise isn’t MH6 because it’s in the same generation of games as World and the console releases usually start a new generation of games.

I never really got to experience the social aspect of Monster Hunter. None of my friends really enjoy or know about Monster Hunter, and I struggle with and actively avoid online social interactions (specifically in video games and DEFFINITELY in voice) most of the time. I'm getting a bit better at being social, so I hope to be able to get back into Monster Hunter with a newfound determination to make some friends. I've recently gotten back into Monster Hunter Generations, so World is next!
I play this series since age of 11, startef with MH2. AS a child trying to overcome the difficulty of the game was very frustrating at first. However, I managed it and just feel rewarding after my first successful hurt of large monster. Now I am 27, I still love to play this series. And I guess, I will play this series until I die LOL
I'm literally pissed that I've never got the full experience of monster hunter at its full potential when growing up. Tho ever since world was released I decided to give it a go and I wasn't disappointed with how it turned out. And from a ancient medieval creature artist such as myself I'd say it has really made me cringed watching monsters go toe to toe with each other and battling them all at once. And if I've never got a single shred out of playing it, I wouldn't think about playing any other game. Which currently... where I stand at right now since I don't have any and my console got stolen for crying out loud. Plus I'm from the 5th fleet since it was my first time ever playing world
MHW is the first MH game I ever played, but what hooked me in on the series was MH 3, Tri, or whatever it was called. I loved monsters, and ocean stuff, (still do), and seeing the trailer one day made my little child's eyes bulge at such excitement and awe. though sadly I would never find one at a local retailer, I was happy watching videos of others and seeing how awesome it was. (Though the water controls definitely needed improvement.) I'm glad that MHW was my first though, as I probably wouldn't have been able to get used to the slow movement of the older gens. (Not saying they were bad, don't kill me for my opinion pls.) My ultimate Monster Hunter dream is that one day they'll bring back underwater fights, with a better, and modern take on the underwater mechanics, like giving you aqua jets to swim faster and more smoothly, and air capsules to take so you don't always have to go up for air. With this, they could bring back monsters like lagiacrus, man I miss seeing that reptile snake on screen. This would be my dream come true for a new Monster Hunter Game.
I feel like I'm one of the only people who never really 'got' World but then got really into Rise. I think if I had had someone to play World with I would have fallen in love with this series much sooner, but now I'm going back to make up for lost time (also trying MHGU)
For me it's the opposite. I started playing World with a good friend but didn't really get into it then, but suddenly when my friend stopped playing I started really understanding it better and taking more time to read the tutorials. Not only that, but for me, Rise just doesn't have that 'wow' effect World has. It's interessting to see there's people who think entirely different tbh.
I’ve been getting back into World finally and while I think overall it’s the better game due to the aforementioned ‘wow’ factor, I really love the moment to moment combat of Rise more, mainly due to how well Wirebugs mesh with IG and SnS. (Also I’m terrible at MHGU but dang it’s good once it gets going)
Kinda the same. I loved freedom 2 and freedom unite, but none of the later entries clicked with me. Bought Tri and World but never bothered to finish even the story. Rise hooked me back into the franchise and I went back to World after finishing Rise. Still hope they put the crustacean bosses back like Shen Gaoren
I played MH Freedom Unite a lot on the PSP back in the day but only solo, i picked up MH World on PC a few days ago and been playing it nonstop, its such a success and achievement for the series, its feels great, it looks great, it has tons of depth but is comparatively non-clunky and i was even able to get a series newcomer into it super quickly. So yeah, this breakthrough in terms of sales is earned already by the pure quality as a monster hunter game.
The difference in culture isn't a good or bad thing either, Americans and I think westerners in general would probably be very unhappy living in such cramped spaces even with high quality public services and transport, our personal cars and space is part of our freedom, and lifestyle and nothing is wrong with that. But it's not hard to be able to respect the discipline of living together in such little space managing to still get along with everyone and play monster hunter together!
Imo world is the best MH game so far. I liked everything about it. Sure I had to get used to certain new mechanics but once I got good at using those I had crazy times.
In 2018 i had legit NEVER heard of monster hunter before and i´m a 29year old gamer since birth (pretty much). My girlfriend was browsing the PS4 store and saw the demo. Liked the artwork and played it. I was watching and a few hours later i tried it. Watched a few vids on YT from the beta since Anja was a bitch but fucking Nerg killed me over and over. At that point i was already gone and in love. It´s the 1v1 dance from Dark Souls but with a complex weapon and 30+min long! xD 3000h later i can say this game is at the very top of my all time favourites list.
Bought the game when it was cheap. Stil need to play it. But while on vacation my sister and a friend of her played it and they had a blast. Though she did get help from her friend who played it way back on the psp. I also played it on the psp but never quite got the hang of it or progressed what so ever.
rise will just rise monster hunter further but i bet world will be one of those we wont forget, world was my first MH now rise and world was a very special experience of a game to me
2 years later from the videos release and damn MHW sold now 18.6 million + 3 million or more from the master edition (which has both world and the DLC iceborne) and sold 10 million copies of iceborne that makes the total to 31.6 MILLION copies sold from world and Rise sold 11.7 million and sunbreak sold 5 million that makes the total of the 5th gen ONLY 48.3 million+ and if u count the master edition as 2 sales then it sold 51.3 MILLION or even more that makes MH easily the biggest current capcom IP for the last 10 years MH has 55 releases with a total of 90+ million (most of it from 5th gen only which is INSANE) RE has 155 releases with 135 million sales its safe to assume 6th gen will make MH capcom biggest IP if it was good
World is the only MH game I’ve played and I really like it, there are just two problems I have. The first is that I really wish the monsters had health bars, at least so I can feel the damage numbers shown can mean something and because a lot of the later monsters feel like damage sponges, but hey that’s a minor thing. Unlike my second problem, that being the fact that you can’t actually PAUSE the game even when you’re playing solo or in offline mode.
Sorry but I don't like the idea of health bars. It's a HUNTING game not a fighting game your meant to be able to tell how far the monster is from dieing through its behaviour. E.g is it limping/ constantly fleeing? Is it becoming more exhausted more often? Are most of its parts broken? These signs serve as indications of how close you are to ending the hunt. And regarding the pause thing I totally agree.
@@biggnesss7192 Then I really wish there were more signs of your damage mattering. Espeically for Master Rank monsters that ARE just huge damage sponges. I just don't see the point of showing damage numbers when you have no reference of what those numbers are subtracting from. At the very least, I feel them having health bars should be an option you can turn on and off to please both people that want them and don't want them.
Breaking parts is usually a good indicator of how far along you are in the fight, but lack of health bars helps keep up that factor of uncertainty to make sure you’re always prepared for a slug out. Totally agreed about the pause thing, that was just bad idea
Rise is a great game but I've got to say world is a better MH game and a better game overall. Maybe I say that because world was my first but I dont think so world is incredible and few games have ever drawn me in so hard for so long.
@@GalanOfTruth rise is more Like a Classic mh where the Base Game is pretty Tame and then they go all in on the Expansion . So If it follows the Classic mh Style then Sunbreak will be a absolute Monster
I hope they put rise mechanics into 'world 2' world I think looks and feels much better like a proper ecosystem. Rise feels more for gameplay, definitely love the wirebug mechanics and the palamute
I've been buying and playin MH since it came out but i never REALLY played it until World, once i saw the hunter walk by a plant and pick it without stopping i knew they fixed everything that made the game unenjoyable! I always wanted to love MH, i loved the concept, i loved the creativity and thought that went into it but i never found it enjoyable to play. i loved the game from afar... World is not only a good MH it's just a damn good game over all... kudos to capcom, Rise is great too but you can see the age in some of the design choices and you can see one of the problems with staggered development, you cant get the most benefit of the feedback from the field because you are already halfway through your development cycle... i mean they original were going to do loading in between areas!!! That would've been the end of any momentum gained from world for sure lol
Many people still had great multiplayer experiences in 5th Gen but I agree that the SoS system slaughtered the social aspect overall. That and the excess of certain RNG factors that made people want to grind stuff over and over as quickly as possible and getting really mad when other players mess it up for them. There’s not enough cooperation or discipline
I have a love hate relationship with MH. Games like TriU, 4U and World are why i love it and games like GU and Rise is why i hate it. The former has immersion and the latter is just an action game void of what you call a monster hunter game.
Earlier games struggled in the west because people wanted to hunt monsters in Monster Hunter, not spend literal hours farming materials for nets, picks and traps.
Eh, I still don't buy it tbh. I grew up on MHFU and I played World with a friend of mine on his PS4 for a few weeks. It feels like, in servicing the game to improve its overall performance and accessibility for the western crowd culturally as well, a lot of in-game culture was lost imo. That's why I love MHGU so much, because it nails multiplayer hunts while staying true to the original content. And I get that western audiences cream their pants over hearing about 'open world' type gameplay, but compare that to MHGU. World has prominent zones and a whole lot of nothing between them, while MHGU cuts out those wide plains or long tunnels to keep up the pace of the game, as well as develop interesting, non-repetitive set pieces for each area. I look at that first locale in World and I think there's an open area and a deeply wooded area. I look at the first locale in MHGU and I think there's an open field, an abandoned campsite, a deep, dark abyssal forest, a cave system, a babbling brook, and the corpse of Shen Gaoren. Even Rise feels way too big and unimpressive, minus the first two locales imo, those were done well. Tl,dr: World's upgrade made Monster Hunter a little less special and a little less focused I guess, and needlessly sacrificed a lot of what made the series so unique to me.
World set a decent foundation but it also feels like an awkward transition that tries to keep too much of the old material without actually knowing how to adapt it into the new gameplay, if that makes any sense. The next entry needs to either re-examine just what made the feeling of the old games work and find a better way to recreate that, or go totally in the other direction and commit to something totally new. While Rise loses a few beloved things from the old games, it feels like it’s more comfortable with its identity in just going balls to the wall with its new ideas and not pretending it has to look too much like the past. It’s like a spin-off in a way, though I don’t mean so in a “I don’t think this is a monster hunter game” way
I do find it funny that it was one of the worst selling MH's inside Japan (I guess that should be obvious though): twitter.com/aevanko/status/1260189577702064128
But weirdly most of my friends on that game are not westeners. The only overseas friends i had on that game are japanese people. But yeah japanese love portable yet my jp friend never play rise with me at all i think he had it but he put it down for dbd and another one put it down for genshin.

@Stayn Initial d that’s made by the team that makes portable games, so not Mh6
@Stayn Initial d there are 2 teams that make MH games, the ‘A’ team and ‘B’ team. A team makes the console titles and B team makes the titles on portable consoles. I'm glad that MHW was my first though, as I probably wouldn't have been able to get used to the slow movement of the older gens. (Not saying they were bad, don't kill me for my opinion pls.)
My ultimate Monster Hunter dream is that one day they'll bring back underwater fights, with a better, and modern take on the underwater mechanics, like giving you aqua jets to swim faster and more smoothly, and air capsules to take so you don't always have to go up for air.
Do it man World is awesome
I find Worlds power progression ruins it. Its so unlike previous games (and that's a big reason why I liked those games) that I don't enjoy it.
I am so glad I got into MHW cause its such a beautiful series
It´s the 1v1 dance from Dark Souls but with a complex weapon and 30+min long! xD
3000h later i can say this game is at the very top of my all time favourites list.
I really hope the same can happen for Lost Planet.
Crazy what some pretty graphics and sound design will do for a series.
Usually heard about Monster Hunter briefly as a kid and didn’t play until World, now? Its my second favorite game series only behind Pokémon
Bought the game when it was cheap.
Stil need to play it.
But while on vacation my sister and a friend of her played it and they had a blast.
Though she did get help from her friend who played it way back on the psp.
I also played it on the psp but never quite got the hang of it or progressed what so ever.
@Tomkon try not to use blue green as the graph colors, i cant see shit
rise will just rise monster hunter further but i bet world will be one of those we wont forget, world was my first MH now rise and world was a very special experience of a game to me
Sadly rise is 50 50. But i had hopes on suzuki
2 years later from the videos release
and damn MHW sold now 18.6 million + 3 million or more from the master edition (which has both world and the DLC iceborne) and sold 10 million copies of iceborne
that makes the total to 31.6 MILLION copies sold from world
and Rise sold 11.7 million and sunbreak sold 5 million
that makes the total of the 5th gen ONLY 48.3 million+
and if u count the master edition as 2 sales then it sold 51.3 MILLION or even more
that makes MH easily the biggest current capcom IP for the last 10 years
MH has 55 releases with a total of 90+ million (most of it from 5th gen only which is INSANE)
RE has 155 releases with 135 million sales
its safe to assume 6th gen will make MH capcom biggest IP if it was good
World is the only MH game I’ve played and I really like it, there are just two problems I have.
I'm so glad I got into this series, if it weren't for my friend I might have dropped it
You see that sub count its 1 bigger now
Anyone going to replay world and iceborne on Xbox soon?
Now they just need to add crossplay and the community will never be split ever again.
Well what sold mhw to me was that it was like actually advertised.
The fact that even Iceborne outsold MHP3rd is amazing lol.
Rise is a great game but I've got to say world is a better MH game and a better game overall. Maybe I say that because world was my first but I dont think so world is incredible and few games have ever drawn me in so hard for so long.
Same bro world was sun else, rise graphics don’t even compare
@@flashback_ho3 Graphics are not my standard honestly.
@@GalanOfTruth rise is more Like a Classic mh where the Base Game is pretty Tame and then they go all in on the Expansion .
So If it follows the Classic mh Style then Sunbreak will be a absolute Monster
A dream of mine is to be able to ask someone if they like monster hunter and not always get "whats monster hunter?"
I'm just glad they put a monster hunter game on pc. Because some people don't have consoles. I surely didn't have a ps4.
I hope they put rise mechanics into 'world 2' world I think looks and feels much better like a proper ecosystem. Rise feels more for gameplay, definitely love the wirebug mechanics and the palamute
Worlds ecosystem is beautiful and lively
We, the ones who know the game before, know what the series it really about... kill the foooken plesioth >:v
Hi
I'm sure World took away from the social aspect with the SoS system.
The former has immersion and the latter is just an action game void of what you call a monster hunter game.
yooo
the mhw release was an era of lootboxes.
Earlier games struggled in the west because people wanted to hunt monsters in Monster Hunter, not spend literal hours farming materials for nets, picks and traps.
Now people complain that you do nothing but hunt monsters in Rise. Funny how that is…
Compared to World, Rise is not a good Game to continue with. World has much more aspects that are way better in World than in Rise
how it took the world. it relased on actual consoles.
To be honest, MH World is the best of the series. I've been playing MH series since MH1 PS2. 😅
It’s like a spin-off in a way, though I don’t mean so in a “I don’t think this is a monster hunter game” way
World shown us what aconsole mh game can be.
Rise shown us what a portable version can be (spoiler: lukewarm content)
Don’t be daft, Gen U was also a portable monster hunter and has the most content of any entry in the series, both in player options and monster totals
MHW > MHR anyday. MHR is super bland, relying on its "fancy" gameplay to cover everything it sucks at lol.
Debatable
You have objectively bad taste.
@@EldritchIdiot keep hunting apex monsters for no real rewards
@@angellara7040 at least they are not "same monster with more hp and more damage"
@@EldritchIdiot you're right they're deviants that were copied from Gen without what made tha deviants cool
I do find it funny that it was one of the worst selling MH's inside Japan (I guess that should be obvious though):
twitter.com/aevanko/status/1260189577702064128
But weirdly most of my friends on that game are not westeners. The only overseas friends i had on that game are japanese people. But yeah japanese love portable yet my jp friend never play rise with me at all i think he had it but he put it down for dbd and another one put it down for genshin.
Genshin is as big a time sink as MH lol, understandable
