    I suspect I am fighting this same issue. I checked out the head and all looks good. The brush motor is a brushed 120VDC motor. I have no problem testing and replacing the diodes or capacitor on the circuit card, but a bad motor in the brush head could burn them out again the first time it is turned on again. My next step will be to apply DC voltage to the brush head and see if it runs. I don't have a 120VDC source, but should have a 24VDC or 48VDC power supply to try. This should be sufficient to determine if the motor is operational before I troubleshoot further. Edit to add: I tested the brush head with a 20V 5A power brick and it runs fine (in either direction!). I am confident that the brush head is not the cause of the failure. I hope it is a simple as a switch failure. I am not looking forward to disassembling the ball. Final edit: It turns out the breaker hidden between the switches was installed incorrectly such that turning the vacuum off and back on would not reset it. After resetting the breaker, the brush head is working again. Looking at the wiring, the breaker is only used for the brush head, so it can be tripped even if the vacuum motor still runs. The way my unit was assembled, the breaker could not be reset without removing the switch cover. I reinstalled it in the correct position and it should work properly now. I suspect that if the brush head has too much hair, string, etc. and is starting to bind, the motor will draw too much current and trip the breaker. Turning the power off and back on will reset the breaker, but unless the brush head is cleaned so there is no binding, it will trip again. My brush head was greatly in need of cleaning.

    No one talks about this vacuum because it's not worth talking about. I've had mine for 13 months now & can say that it's been a mediocre cleaner at best. The $90 Walmart vacuums work better than this machine. I can't understand why a vacuum of all appliances needs a computer board - I have a feeling that the electronics are there to count down either hours or on/off cycles so that it can conveniently "break" & need an expensive service visit - which will end up in the throwing away of this overpriced vacuum.

    • @HouseOfVacuums
      @HouseOfVacuums 6 днів тому

      That has not been my experience with the R25. Is it the best cleaner in the Riccar lineup? No. That is reserved for the R30 and R40. But it is competitive. I'm inclined to believe you either don't actually have an R25 or that the salesperson set unrealistic expectations for a challenging environment. I've had 4 R25s in my courtesy vacuum fleet since 2019 and I have had zero issues with them. Zero. And that is being used in different households by people who use them like a rental car. Circuit boards are not added to force obsolesence and the idea that they count down to self destruct is conspiracy level thinking. If you want a vacuum without a circuit board, you are literally left with $50 Walmart models which, incidentally, have very short hour-life motors that WILL burn out long before a quality PCB. You know what does force obsolescence? Not making parts available, making warranty inaccessible, and underdesigning high stress areas. I apologize if this comes across as confrontational, but I have very little patience when someone buys a product, regrets their decision and then attacks the product without merit. If you haven't have a PCB burn out and the vacuum is cleaning... I'm not sure what you are all lathered up about other than just not liking it personally. Which is a legitimate arguement. But it is opinion, not fact.

    A Good seal and suction can make up for the lack of agitation.

    • @HouseOfVacuums
      @HouseOfVacuums 6 днів тому

      That is a common belief. However, suction is how powerful the motor is when pulling against an immovable force (also called sealed suction). However, with sealed suction, there is little to no air moving into the vacuum. Instead, the motor is evacuating the remaining air out of the sealed system. If you aren't moving air, you aren't moving dirt. So sealed suction at the floor is actually not a good thing at the floor. Instead, you want airflow and agitation.

    Thanks BUT, I can't pop off the part across the top that says Miele. My filters are clean, perfectly clean. I clean them regularly. I gave the pre-filter a wash just like you said, making it super clean but it still has zero suction. I have to take it in. Two pics, screwdriver heads - just cannot pop it off and the plastic is getting mangled trying. No so great a design. Since I cannot currently drive, taking it in is no simple task and the closest place is far away. Rather annoyed that simple maintenance cannot be performed.

    Thanks for the thorough overview. I just bought one of these today. Prices are up about $100 since your review, but are still competitive. I kept the turbo brush from my trade-in. It worked well, and I like its width and quality better than the Fur-Get-It attachment. I also did as you suggest and bought a dedicated upholstery brush. It'll be good for picking up localized messes such as my two small parrots make with tossed seeds and molted feathers. Gonna look for your "in use" video on this vac... Oh no! I couldn't find one on your channel. Did you ever make one?

      Not in my experience. There were some minor issues with a few of the first run of the R25P and R25D models, but it happened to a very small percentage of those sold. It was quickly rectified with the R25P.2 and R25D.2 which are what is sold today. To some shops, one or two issues is too many because they don't want to deal with it (as in, do work). But I'm not of that mind. For a clean sheet design, the issue rate has been incredibly low and we quickly took care of those effected. That being said, you can't go wrong with a Sebo, either. Enjoy!

    Thanks for this detailed video. This nozzle design is awful and is very limiting in terms of user serviceability. This design turns a belt replacement, which is usually one of the easiest maintenance tasks on a vacuum, into one of the most time-consuming. Leave it to Shark to design one of the nicest form-factor vacuums with the worst repairability, very typical. Unfortunately I need to disassemble the whole nozzle to clean out some very fine dirt, which has found its way into every crevice in the vacuum. I found this vac at the thrift for $10. I had to take apart the main motor body because it was caked in dirt from lack of filter cleanings. Every time the motor turned on a puff of dirt would come out the side vents, and when it turned off there was a squeakiness when it spun down. After tearing down the main body I was able to get the motor out, it’s 500 watts. I cleaned every bit of dirt from inside the motor and oiled the bearings. Putting it back together was awful because of the button and display panel which comes off with the motor. It has a lip that requires the display to be pried up and around it to reassemble, which took forever and was very strenuous. However once it was put back together, everything worked great.

    I came here because my Miele HX2 has stopped charging. The batteries are similar or identical to the one dissected here. I think the PCB may have been damaged when the cleaner fell. This is a risk if the cleaner is configured and stored so that the motor part is at the top. I will contact Miele service.

    Designed to be lite and of a thickness that is still durable with thin lite durable components. Lots of screwed down access points for service makes it a better design in my opinion, More screws doesn't mean it is a weak design at All, Somebody could have thought a sealed unit is not so attractive to a Customer, People like to repair things if they can or have them repaired by a technician. Buy it on a Sale and you can't go wrong, I've had Wertheim vacuum cleaner and powerhead gave up working and that was a high priced unit 3x the price. The Strato's is in direct comp's with a Dyson of similar class, And has better suction.

    • @HouseOfVacuums
      @HouseOfVacuums 2 місяці тому

      It sounds like you have an issue with your brushroll or brushroll motor. It is running for a few seconds before it errors out because of too much resistance. A failed bearing or hair wrapped in the end of the brushroll will create enough resistance to falsely trip the belt protection system, which is the red light you are experiencing. Unfortunately, Shark isn't going to see you just the brushroll. Rather, they will sell you the entire nozzle assembly, which depending on model can run from $99-130. Hope that helps.
