Singer-Songwriter Grace VanderWaal rocks students at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (a polytechnic college) on May 31, 2019 in California's central coast, with an end-of-semister free concert! Grace performed 15 songs in less than an hour (12 originals and 3 covers) and including two of her stunningly beautiful brand new unreleased originals!! This is Grace at her best. Her unique vocals and effervescent personality are only matched by her unparalleled writing abilities.

Yep, I try to always leave in everything Grace and/or the audience is saying. I love hearing what she has to say and how the audience reacts. These are special moments, not music videos lol.
Valerie was a song by THE ZUTONS ("Tired Of Hanging Around" Album... Released 19-6-2006).
Correct and The Zutons was an excellent version. Then Amy took it to another level and everyone thought it was her song.
Ex: Natural Woman was a Carole King song that became Aretha's or I Heard It Through The Grapevine was Gladys Knight's and Marvin Gaye took it higher!
Grace is amazing her performances always surprises, with a lot of brilliance and a special talent, congratulations and "success always" !!!
Wow! Good job! Perfect Capture. I think Grace is channeling Amy Winehouse in Valerie. It's perfection. Outside of the Original Recording, Grace may be the best one singing this in major venues. She has a similar sound. And Grace's cover is probably the World's Best live, of this song. Actually, not on stage, but her Billboard Version is a better live one... But it's only her and Melissa in a high rise studio, and you can hear the lyrics better. But both versions are great.
Like Clearly, if done in the Studio... It could literally take off. In fact, almost anything Grace writes or sings from here on out is on the verge of taking off. Everything she sings eventually gets millions of views on UA-cam, or D/L'd on Spotify, iHeart, Nick Radio, or Radio Disney. I think as we get into 2020, it will be Grace's year., especially after StarGirl has been released... making her visible to millions of new fans. These college students and families are sooo lucky to have seen her in such a closer format. Other Venues are already charging lots of $. Besides Charity Benefits... this is about as close as many of them are going to get...and can tell their offspring, "I was THERE!' (They saw her in her 'Early Years!')
People who are equivocating about attending a Grace VanderWaal live show because it's too far or too difficult are going to regret missing this time in Grace's career for the rest of their lives.
@@RunUphillBackwards I wanted to fly out to Cal Poly last week, of this post... but needed both the $ and getting my Sister I look after... to not be scared to FLY. I'm trying to go on August 10th to Railbirds. I'm still budgeting for it, and it is only 100 miles away. We are on SS. It's an expense I must deal with if I'm going to get any sleep the Day after, or the Day after THAT. My Autistic Sister I care for is a Super Fan. I'm a Fan too... But trying to be more pragmatic. So far, my Sister is winning! It looks like we'll make it ok. Next, is getting a good pair of binoculars. Keeneland Racetrack (Lexington, Ky) is HUGE. There might be 65,000 there. It was so at a similar one in Louisville last summer, in Ky. Lots of potential exposure for Grace...
Probably her BEST show besides Cal Poly this Summer... because she can take her time by not being limited to an Opener ...It could go over 60 mins, and maybe they have a walk-out...like they did at Loveloud 2018. With 15 bands for the day on 3 stages, while one sets up, another could start nearby. They might stagger them. Grace could get plenty of undivided attention for her set...As patrons are looking for the NEXT show, and walk to her stage as the Music Starts. ... And, it might get Professionally Recorded... and for sale later. I really hope so! Any DVD's or BluRays will fly off the shelves!

@@RunUphillBackwards Yeay!!! I love that... A very HEAVY Schedule too! I'm Amazed! We might go to Nashville instead, because tickets are less, the Show is her Own exclusively, plus the Show is indoors with great sound. It's only about a 6 hr drive. I will decide later today... Other Cities we can drive to are: Chicago or Detroit.
How would Amy react if the crowd sang this loud during an her live Valerie, Grace relaxes the audience to the point where they don't care if they're spoiling the recording they just want to join in
Well, Grace loves the interaction, and she makes that perfectly clear, frequently turning the mice toward the audience. I'm not there to get a studio quality recording, that's what studios are for lol. If the audience didn't respond to Grace she would not enjoy this as much herself, and I certainly wouldn't want that to happen!
@@RunUphillBackwards Exactly, keeping it short I guess it sometimes leaves it open for different interpretations. What I meant was Grace loves the interactions but other singers may not. I read one time Melanie Martinez yelled at her audience and walked off stage. Grace's people would have to expect the crowd would be singing along with her if they ever decided to do a official live recording and fans would be expecting to hear that too, I know I would

I do very much appreciate any and all efforts to bring to the FanderWaal community as much quality Grace content as possible. Fortunately, for us, there are a number of people around Grace who share on social media and a lot of fans who do likewise. Your shares are among the very best quality.

I think this whole tour was her being comfortable on stage. It’s more of a moving to the music, not actual “dance moves”.

The Zutons lead singer wrote the song his name is Dave McCabe. Marc Ronson who wrote the mega hit Uptown Funk was producing Ami at the time and suggested that she cover the song Valerie which had already been a hit all over Europe and a top 3 in the UK by The Zutons (the original song writers). The Zutons have changed their name to Dave McCabe And The Ramifications and have just had a new album out not long ago fact. Some people say it goes back to 1966. GRACE, I know a lot of people might say this but take one of your songs from a few years ago or more and redo it while you are on break. Maybe it will change a lot or a little. I want to hear a TreeHouse Version of an old "I don't WANT to play that song again, song' song. Maybe there is a refreshing retake or uptake on it we wound (including you, would enjoy.
