Partial lyrics. Not sure about the bits in brackets. Any suggestions?(tweaked thanks to Irma)
Everybody says there's no such thing as second chances
but in life you just take what you get.
When I look at you it feels that it will be forever
but who knows (what we'll get)
Ooh I'll make you laugh.. I'll make you feel a special way
With only me, with only me, you'll want to spend your every day
Ooh I'll give my all.. all of my energy
but no matter what, no matter what, you'll just get bored of me
I give my heart I give my soul, I get attached and then they go
I played my part ( I played a role)
Maybe I should hide away so (you'll never never know)
I played my part, I played a fool.
@@georgeschmidt7484 I guess that fits but but after listening again I think it's played a role
@@jonock1 Looking good!!! Few more help from friends and you'll gonna nail it!
@@themusicofnewyork1570 Every edit unpins it. That's what makes keeping these WIPs on top kinda difficult...
Easy workaround, @Jonophilous: Keep the post with the growing lyrics as a reply, not in the main post.
The fragments I get out of the parts that are still missing:
Verse 1
0:33 "Tonight (we, I?) take (the act of) feeling too far"
0:41 "(?) speak English properly (?) that you are"
0:48 "I think of you (and tell you) that I'm feeling (good) now."
0:56 "But hen you'll just get bored of me now"
In the Chorus
1:32 "I give my all, MY LOVE, my energy."
Verse 2
2:02 I'm (mad?) because you speak to basically everyone
2:09 Please stop (?) and just (?) me for once.
2:18 (I) stop listening to you (?) turn off your voice and just (go?)
2:24 Listen to my words (but on my bed I saw ?) your eyes (?)
For me this is her most enchanting performance.
Near 50 seconds, a fan sneezes and without skipping a beat, Grace says "Bless you, thank you." She's a pro, a star. Bless you Grace.
That's our REAL Grace, blessing a sneeze in the audience right in the middle of performing her song, LOL! LOVE THAT GIRL!
I wish I could make out the lyrics but damn this is a sophisticated song for a 15 year old and her singing has reached a whole other level. Talk about an old soul! And(I hope they're not teasing) apparently there is a lot more to come!
In the middle of the song someone sneezes and Grace actually says "bless you". What a girl!
Don't cha just LOVE her?
I'm obsessed by her; but not in a weird way. The way I used to be obsessed by leonard cohen or Simon and Garfunkel. I think she will be their equivalent someday.
@@jamessmithe5490 Hi James, haven't seen your comments lately... hope all is well with you and yours!!
Whoever thinks this girl isn't absolutely special with a heart of gold is off their rocker
I want to fake my sneeze just to be blessed by the Amazing Grace Vanderwaal ❤️🙏🤧
I’m in awe of her lyrics and her new style, but I think people are kind of overlooking the fact that Grace’s range has increased and she’s hitting much lower notes than she was capable of less than a year ago. Her vibrato has also improved and seems to be almost effortless, as well as her low notes. I love that she’s still training her voice and learning better techniques. By age 20, her vocal power will be unmatchable.
Good point , on AGT she basically was raw with little training and yet she still blew most away , a few noticed she was untrained and using incorrect techniques and decided to dismiss her instead of realizing the rough diamond she was.
Greg Cadman exactly, she’s come so far in 3 years, it blows my mind and I’m disappointed people didn’t see she’d only scratched the surface of her potential.
@@allthings.stranger there loss , but it is sad so few know of her now, they are missing out on the makings of a potential legend
Her mother has a very powerful voice and she easily go from low to high tones to when she speaks. Her sister has a low toned raspy voice
Since so many of her songs start out on low notes at the bottom of her range, this is good news. As she gets bigger, those notes will get easier.
Grace is so young - she has so much time to grow, learn new instruments, etc (bass wonderchild Tal Wilkenfeld didn't even pick up the instrument until she was 18).
Imagine in four years, the length of time it takes to go through high school, she will STILL be under 20. In so many ways, she is not even close to being in her prime, and yet what we have already is astonishing.
0:52 -- This is why we love Grace.
Ok...after listening to this song on repeat and teasing out the lyrics, despite having an almost 70's vibe, I think this song is going to be a big hit when released. The song is sweet, hopeful, and all ages can relate.
J Yee what are the lyrics?? i cant hear her voice properly :/
She is killing me I can't stop listening to all these new songs! This song makes me feel like, my head is spinning and my feet are off the ground and I can't stop dancing like no one's around!
Lol I saw what you did there but yes this song and your so beautiful has hit written all over it stray as well
Is it just me or is this song just really great?
Not you its brilliant
I've become emotionally attached to this song. ...'feel that special way'. Something about that line and those notes at that part is so 1970's to me. But it's fresh out of a tiny girls head. How'd she do that?
This song, your so beautiful, and Stray hopefully will be part of a full album with a similar tone and feel...will make the ultimate chill road trip CD....I will just put this on on a beautiful day and start driving and not stop.......
I can barley hear what she is saying
@@heyitsElvin12 Doesn't matter it comes from the heart.
Grace is listed as the sole writer of this song. At 3:08, the song unexpectedly takes you through some chord changes that are really impressive. Assuming that she wrote this, there is nothing else I can say but this is the work of a genius.
"I give my heart, I give my soul
I get attached, and then I let it go"
The proof of a great and iconic pop song is its staying power. And that staying power usually comes down to two fundamental things: Great melodies, and great lyrics. (With a dash of that unknowable something, for good measure.) Grace will take her place among the brilliant songwriters of the past few generations. Examples, all, of the small pool of creative genius that sits atop our art forms. Invitation only, I'm afraid. And thank goodness for that. I remember her performance of "Clay" on AGT. And I remember thinking that I just witnessed a performance and a song that is head and shoulders --in so many departments-- above the vast majority of contemporary pop superstars. I still rewatch that, in wonder of the pure, unabashed channeling of a very beautiful soul. You just can't order that on Amazon. That's the kind of "gift" that becomes the soundtrack of a generation.
She has said, "I'm not trying to be Sia. I'm not trying to be Melanie Martinez. And I don't want to be Taylor Swift." She, of course, meant no malice toward Swift. She was just "making the facts clear". Get used to it.
“SNEEZE!” Grace, without missing a beat, “BLESS YOU!” . . Who does that!?!? . . . Only GRACE VANDERWAAL!!!
What a wonderful talent!! The humble "bless you" just adds something. How is she so "us" and "we" so her? Amazing.
The thing is that the girl who sneezed was not like “OMG SHE SAID BLESS YOU TO ME!!!”
She was polite and said thank u like normal person instead of making it a big deal
Honestly I know if it was me I would be like “OML OMG AHHHH!!!”
I don't know why I keep coming back, I just do. This song is just that deep.
Yup it grabs you , Grace is head and shoulder above what we mostly see these days and she is only 15
I keep coming back to this gorgeous song. My personal favourite by Grace Vanderwaal.
This has real sophistication not that Graces music is not sophisticated but this is another step up from her, remarkable if you think of this she is not even at her peek
Jazz! Oh my Grace is a jazz singer. This is her style; she's found it.
My goodness. All those jazzy flats and sharps. It's like R&B. She's so frickin' unpredictable. :)
Damn she just keeps getting better and better
I'm really enjoying following your progress Grace. Keep doing the right thing, Listen to your family and those looking out for you that are in the position to guide you. You have an opportunity to blossom into an incredible musician and entertainer which you already have but the sponsorship opportunities and the role model that you can be for young women and for young kids and for people pursuing a music career and for people trying to do the right thing in life you are an inspiration in believe in yourself and never giving up. It goes on and on. Full of blessings for everybody including yourself Grace..
Grace, no once could get bored with you.
Ten years later : Breaking news!! Grace Vanderwaal has won her fifty grammy award and is now ranked by The Rolling Stones as one of the most influential artists of all time.
Talent isn't always recognized but I hope so.
I bet Rolling Stone will probably never really "get" Grace. And I don't care either. Yeah, they did call her a pop protegy, but doubt they will be able to keep up with her especially if she keeps putting out songs like this one. If it doesn't fit their definition of "rock", it doesn't matter how good it is
I would like to say ' that's my granddaughter up there ', BUT, I love her like my grand daughter................when she sings sweetness fills the air and when she says ' bless you ' to a fan all her fans feel blessed. Very few singers and very few people have that kind of mystique. There is no mistake she was born to sing.....and thankful this old man is. Yes ,I like her style. OLD PETER U S A
I just can't get enough of this song, it's addictive, just mesmerising. I don't want it to end.
Grace just never stops blowing my mind! Her V O I C E is so heavenly ..... her songs are so lovely and deep and melodic and beautiful 🌱🥀🌺🌹🏵️💮🌼🌸
I just love her.
How funny! Both the sneeze and the “bless you” were right on beat
2:54-3:24 I mean COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is possessed a little bit during this. All that swagger with the mike away from her mouth. Just sooo crazy cool!! This song, jeez louise!! Even with poor recording quality, the thing is incredible. What is she now? 100%? As in 100% of her music is fantastic!! She has no clunkers, not even a mediocre or okay. They go as low as really really great to are you kidding me. She's gonna explode someday soon, I can just feel it.
Tony Absolutely yes! True words! This kid just blows my mind! I love her and I’m 66 years old!!!
Hell i thought she already did, i predict a grammy in the future

She is such an amazing and talented person. I love this song so much. She is so creative and inspiring. Her lyrics have so much feeling. You can tell the emotions she puts into her songs and it shows.❤️❤️
3:01 Wow...just Wow
Now that’s what I’m talking about!
get this out in the public right away! Beautiful song.
something tells me that someday soon this girl is just gonna renovate everything. Blow a big fat hole in mainstream music and turn it on it's head.
Dunno. I know this is an elitist thing to say, but when in history has the mainstream been appreaciative of true genius?
She'll be great (heck she IS great), but I don't know if she'll ever be the "7 hits on the billboard" type of megastar.
Too much variety and depth to her work. Takes too much effort to appreciate
My appreciation seems effortless. If you can’t see the genius in this muse, then you don’t deserve to have your eyes opened sadly.
Not disagreeing with you necessarily, but they told David Bowie he was too Avant Garde to sell. Anybody remember who he was?
@@jamesallen5417 my favourite solo artist
Even when she was twelve Simon told her she was going to change the game. People shit on Simon Cowell but he had no problem recognizing Grace's brilliance.
3:01 -3:16 was straight up fire , the audience got so into it amazing beautiful song
The third great song. Needs to be released very soon too. Grace is gifted! And we´re blessed.
Keep this video. 30 years from now you'll be able to say Grace VanderWaal once said "bless you" to you at a concert but no one will believe you. Show them this video as proof.
e8 she has been caught doing that before. Check the rooftop session for MTV last year.
I was just thinking the same thing...lol. But it just shows what kind of person Grace is. It’s a wonderful song also. I’d love for this song to be release asap.
I'm glad I saw this because I'm not so sure you'll be telling me the sneeze story 30 years from now. ; ) I thought the band did well considering the time off, short rehearsal time, new keyboardist, new songs, cramped conditions, and Grace gearing up again, etc. Thanks Henning for all of them.
0:50 ... as she sings, --as if it were part of the lyrics, --how can you NOT fall in love with her :)
Ohhh, that amazing bridge! Gives me chills.
For what reason could anyone give this lovely song a thumbs down? Seriously there are some weird people out there.
This is really, really good. Some technical issues with the sound system but her brilliance shines through. She's taking musicality to a whole new level with these new songs!
This video is nothing to sneeze at. Stay strong and carry on, Grace.
I see what you did there...
Happy to see so many old FanderWaals here since Day 1 ✌✌
Her voice just flows so effortlessly through out this beautiful song!!! W♡W what a 💎gem💎💜
This song, along with You're So Beautiful, reminds me of Carole King and Roberta Flack, smooth and sophisticated. Grace transcends mere pop songs, she is in a class of her own...and she's 15!
That's true and absolutely Crazy!!
I was thinking Sade and "Smooth Operator".
I mentioned Carole King and Roberta Flack because they were song writers, Dionne Warwick and Sade were not.
I know! It's crazy how good this girl is.
We will never get bored of you Grace.
This has become an ear bug that I can't get out of my mind. Melody and lyrics are unforgettable.
Bruce Benson what are the lyrics?
Thanks Henning, Grace is giving a feeling performance of this sweet new song, love it.. And I've been blissed out listening to this mix.. at slipper.. and a sweet 'bless you' for your little ones polite sneeze too.. Beyond adorable and wholesome with blinding talent.. ☺️ (and I would like to see and hear the words too..)
Grace I like this! Nuff said.
The numbers for this video should climb after it's released as a single
OK I thought I could keep it together, but this song....😭 😭 🎶 💗
My goodness those melodies are so beautiful!!!
You are the only person I have EVER heard that would be able to keep up with the legendary VInx De'Jon Parrette or Vinx as he is world known. His unique jazzy vocals, amazing natural ability to hit notes no one has heard of, and heis an incredible person too. I hope you get a chance to meet him one day. As each of you have done, you have a gift of making people feel, and a collaboration would create another new genre of music, and a listening experience that is unmatched anywhere on earth.
Hearing this and you're so beautiful for the first time. Im ecstatic! It's a jazzier sound with a more improvised approach and some new chords Grace maybe never learned on her uke. But this is the sort of direction Grace should be taking her music, IMHO. Her instincts are spot on, and I'm thrilled she is growing and proving once again that she is the uncompromising mega talent we all know her to be!
"Bless you!" So in the Moment.
She's just too real. Only one in the room that doesn't see a famous person on stage.
@@abarkins Love your comment!
I really hope this song will be released! 😍 My favourite so far ♥ love it!
After hearing her set at the slipper room, i give her kudos for the range and variety of the music she performs.
I can see how it could frustrate some of her fans and maybe her label who want to pigeon hole her into a "certain sound."
Personally, thats what attracts me to her musical performances. Variety is the spice of life.
Your right I love that she does not sing the same type of songs all the time the variety is great
Variety is her sound. She found her sound. It's whatever she wants to write at any time she wants to write it. Unpredictable with every stinking song. Never know what she'll do next, that is her sound. And THAT is rare. And awesome!!!
@@AnthonyMinsky
I liked the way you put that.
I would like to add my perspective, please... I feel an artist should sing whatever they feel good about, and the artist's "sound" will find them.
Just a thought influenced by watching singers in the past. Have a great day 😎
Apparently Grace is in control of her image.she is singing just her songs and the covers she sings are songs that move her.she is not trying to be cool and she is not trying to be like anyone but her self.being your self is what attracts people to you and it's the best way to have people respect you.deep down no one likes a phony.its how she won agt while everyone one was trying to mimic other artists Grace was being her beautiful self.grace has taught us a very valuable lesson and that's a beautiful thing.
@@themusicofnewyork1570 Right! And this muse not only has range and variety among her songs, she has range and variety IN her songs. Anybody I ask is puzzled about what genre Stray is in. The beginning is so different from the main section, yet fits with it. Of course, genre means nothing to Grace, she doesn't let it define or limit a song.
I just love this and hope Grace releases it as a single soon. If they market this song correctly (not holding out hope) she could have a jazz hit on her hands.
Grace Always enchants us with her beautiful melodies, more than whiting a Song well is the ability to convém of maiking the audience understand the intensity of the message of love or drama ,she is very competent at what she does, congratulations and "success Always "!!!
Good heavens! This song is GORGEOUS.

No surprise there.
Thanks for posting this, all these new songs are so good. No sophomore slump for Grace.
The sound issue actually works as an unexpected blessing, Grace just starts belting out above the band, and blows everyone away, like Simon once said, she doesn't need any gimicks, just pure Grace.
This song sounds so vintage. Yikes I teared up on this one. For the song yes, but it's really overwhelming to see how much different music comes out of her little head.
Yes it has an old vibe loving it I'm hoping someone can do some magic and bring out the vocals I hope it sounds just like this on the recorded version no more instruments this is perfect the way it is grace never ceases to amaze me and when she hits mainstream radio it's all over for all the other so called artists

You know what? I bet she ends up pulling everyone (the industry, style, fashion too) up with her to a new level.
Inside that "little head" is one giant sized musical brain. :) I'm more convinced of it than ever.
Me too; she has said that as soon as she finishes a song she can hear the orchestration for the song in her head. She's also said she can see the video. This is no flash in the pan pop star; this is an artist and a musical genius.
I just want to hear one song without getting teary eyed. Please, Grace. You're killing me! lol
This girl has recorded about 24 of her own songs, and she has covered at least 8 genres of music and has crushed each one of them. How does she do it?
It's my understanding that several years ago, grace got a "Super Song Maker Decoder Ring" out of a box of Cracker Jacks.
Her genre-bending style is mind-bending. She writes and sings like she's been absorbing music for decades - how does she do it, indeed!?!
Grace also has a whole slew of produced songs that are not published...she said she did around 50 songs, ugh...50 !!...during the production sessions for 'Just the Beginning". Then there is the whole catalog of songs she wrote and discarded during the Imagine Dragon tour, as well as a hint from her that she wrote and sang a number of songs for Stargirl. Add to that the songs she has written up in the tree house -- her catalogue raisonné must be well over 100 songs written by now.
God blessed her to do that. All glory to God.
Thanks for this. I absolutely love this song!
No, bless you, Grace.

I can imagine Patula Clark back years ago. Only with some Grace.

Beautiful song. Queen G!!!
Great song but microphone problems, can't blame grace for that. If this young lady ever chooses to she could score a movie or two.
Have I ever seen such a variety and depth of talent in one "package"? Nope, never before Grace Vanderwaal. I have been around a while, well 72 years.
I know sounds like I'm being a fan boy (no shame). I'm a fan of many great artists, my preferences are for singer/songwriters; you know Dylan, Prine and yes Vanderwaal (added bonus; Vanderwall has a great voice).
Be well all
An extraordinary song by an artist with a special ability who, in addition to singing, also interprets in a unique way regardless of style, always performs a fantastic job full of energy and immeasurable, simply incredible, congratulations and “always success” !! !

No clue as to whether it will be released? Argghhh. C'mon Grace, remember your team is there to do your bidding. If you want it released just tell them. It's a great song.
I think she was referring to WHEN, not IF it will be released. Can't image it not being released.

that mic and sound system SSSSSucked!!! sigh
@@saki8888 Not completely. I think it was more of the sound engineers mistakes I'll bet.
Your listening to music recorded by a cell phone randomly situated in the audience, and having to make the best with where the recording was made within the sound field (probably in front off the keyboard speaker), this person did a great job.
@@thebeanpot- Of course but all of the other songs recorded by Henning had great mic levels- as good as could be expected under the circumstances. On this song Grace held the mic different.
