Amazing how this one 45 year old show is infinitely more entertaining and engaging than anything currently on any of the three network late night shows. Actual conversation, not plugging something, not doing stupid gags, etc…. It’s a whole different world now with people’s very short attention spans and all of the other competitors to ABC, CBS, NBC.
Can tell someone’s political leanings by their criticism. How dare they mock corruption and stupidity. 🥴😉🤣🤦♂️ Sadly they don’t go far enough. People acting like this is new on tv forget the Smothers Brothers and people saying SNL was funny and non political back in the early days with the original cast of Saturday Night Live were constantly mocking politics . People view the past with Rose colored glasses. Nixon, Ford and Carter were constantly lampooned and later Reagan, Bush sr. and Clinton. But the same people calling the left snowflakes offended by everything are the whiniest bunch of babies we’ve ever seen when they fail and don’t get their way. The same people who openly call for boycotts of Disney, Bud light, M&M’s, the NFL for showing Taylor Swift a combined total of 2:06 ( 2 whole minutes spread over a 3 hour game) 🤣🤦♂️🥴 Books, science, the NBA, Crackerbarrel, and a bunch more and then the people hand picked by a political head turned President who are now called phonies and RINO’s. From the same guy who says he only hires the best people and has been caught assaulting women sexually and slander not once but twice. A huckster who has hocked Sneakers, figurines and bibles. If Biden or Obama stooped to those tactics Fox News and the quasi celebrities like the actors who played Luke Duke and Chachi from Happy Days and Kid Rock 🤣 and Ted Nugent would lose their little minds. The My Pillow Guy, Rudy Giuliani and Trump and his phony marriage to the high end escort from Russia and his dimwitted kids are so easy to make fun of they have given late night talk show hosts and shows like SNL an under handed softball to Tee off on. When it was Clinton lying and surrounded in scandal there was non stop parodies from the same shows. You just are the snowflakes you talked so much about not us. Buck up little camper it’s gonna get worse not easier on orange Jesus and his cult actively trying to dismantle democracy while praising our Cold War enemies like Putin and North Korea. If we only had talk shows like this. Charlie Rose was close to it, but Tom Snyder had a perfect mix of journalism street cred and humor for a smart talk show on commercial television.

Definitely more entertaining than anything coming out of Stephen Colbert's mouth.

How refreshing to not see a crap ton of ads for wonder drugs with bizarre names. It’s fun to watch intelligent, well spoken people conversing. THANKS!
Those ZipLoc bags at 43:20 look like they may catch on!
What? Tons of ads in this video
Regis so young .RIP to all of these stars .
Legends. The three of them. Thanks for sharing!
This was a wonderful hour...I felt transported back to 1979......
Oh I would have done so much better , back then .
I watched this again all of the way through and loved it even more. LOL. This is the way that a talk show should be.

Except that Charlie Rose was a total pompous jerk and a super creep.

The NBC/ABC switch from WRTV to WTHR was a big deal in Indianapolis. It’s crazy to hear Tom talk about it.
I thought the impression at 8:43 was more Dan Aykroyd
I was waiting for the laugh. Hawhawhawhawhawhawhawhawhawhawhawhawhawhaw

Opening theme: Come with Me Now - Bill Conti
Did anyone catch that the opening theme song of this show would be better know, years later, as the theme song to "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous"?
I noticed that as well.
Yep.
At the time it was actually Regis’s theme on AM Los Angeles.
I'll say this: Tom Snyder was the Joe Rogan of the 70's.
Gotta love the Disco theme, May of 79, right before Disco died.
Old Tom was so fast on his feet, even with a ciggy burning in his ash tray and hand!
And now ladies and gentlemen here's Malachi.
Wonder why they never used the theme song created by the Brothers Johnson? They wrote it specifically for this show but was never used.
I totally don't remember the "Tomorrow" show disco theme. 😀
This was used on "Lifestyles Of The Rich & Famous" in the 1980's into the 1990's.
The show started using "Relight My Fire" by Dan Hartman soon afterwards.
56:26 Hilarious! LOL.

Carson was about to retire in 1979?
He was considering retirement at that time, but he enjoyed it so much that he stayed a little longer. Plus, the salary was pretty nice in 1979-80 days.
20:50 - And yet Johnny lasted another 13 years!
18:38 I was convinced it was a young Nick Offerman, but he would have been 9 years old at the time.
Wonder what type of test pattern KCRA used in those days.
