Tom Snyder needs to be recognized as an institution. His style of communication can not be taught, but it should be studied and evaluated in schools of communication.....

Thank you. This was just 29 years ago, but it seems like another century. The pacing was slower and the conversation was more intelligent than today's talk shows. This video and sound quality were excellent. This segment may have been copied from CNBC's own tape, rather than something recorded on a remote VCR.

These are so great!…THANK YOU FOR THE UPLOAD! I miss Tom ….he too me, was the greatest broadcaster ever………I’m in my early 40s but my dad always watched him and told me….” See son, that’s how you interview a person, look at his timing , no annoying band or audience to interrupt the questions, he knows how to ask , what to ask and when to laugh, and what a smile ……”📸 To this day I listen to jazz at night because of Toms intro and outro score…….10/10

Thats because people think that just because they can talk they can have a talk show. Or because they get subscribers on youtube or tiktok that they can do a show. They dont understand the craft. Its like a guy who makes their friends laugh thinking they can be a comedian. Its about craft and sustainability

I believe some professions absolutely require a natural affinity, excellent coordination and concentration, an overall calm demeanor, critical thinking, and all need genuine interest in learning skills and then honing them... in order to accel in that line of work. The people who say to kids: You can do anything---are being disingenuous and setting them up for disappointment or mediocrity. We're not cut out for everything.

It's funny how Tom opens up the show asking 'why Manhattan wasn't made into one giant park' back in the 17th Century. If people had their way today, they would remove Central Park today and turn it into commercial & residential real estate. NYC would make trillions of dollars.

"NYC" would make the money, yeah right kid, and I'm sure you, me, and every person living in NYC would see that money in our pockets. Get fuckin real: they wouldn't reinvest a dime of it into anything for the community, just filling a few real estate mogul pockets.

Colour TV was not perfected yet even then, everyone is filmed in that particular NTSC-yellow that makes them look more like hepatitis sufferers or Simpsons characters than real people.

In the late 1980's and 1990's, late night talk show hosts turned yellow due to a lack of sleep. That's why Johnny Carson retired in 1992 and the talk shows of Pat Sajak, Dennis Miller, and Chevy Chase were quickly cancelled. For a year, Conan's show was given just one-week renewals. Bill Maher was able to move Politically Incorrect from Comedy Central to ABC, but was eventually cancelled, as the network turned yellow, instead of the host. Too much yellow

At 6:16, Tom guesses the population of the U.S. at 250 or 260 million, that being said in 1994. My question is: How did we get to the current estimate, as of 2019, of 325 to 330 million in just 25 short years? Excluding Hispanic birth rates our total replacement rate has been at significantly less than 2.1---meaning that somebody's not counting the population very accurately for it to be so off.

@burteriksson ......It's not only in the EU, though. The common threads in other countries like Canada, Japan and South Korea are their first world economic status, high living expenses, and young people choosing education and careers over parenthood. The last two generations of youth have enjoyed a secure, comfortable lifestyle with minimal personal time responsibilities (compared to just a few generations ago) and see no reason to interrupt la dolce vita.

Older people live longer, Latinas pump out babies quickly, Latinos break into this country with ease, and the birth rate is increasing.

0:55 Snyder "... Manhattan and its enormity..." " _enormity_ " ? Really. Joking aside , Snyder should have said, "enormousness" not that there isn't great enormity associated with the 'Big Apple'
Speaking of enormity and enormousness both adjectives can readily be employed to describe the out-sized, monstrous egos of these two clowns. Painful to watch . It's a test to see which of the two will do a better job at disguising their fragility
