My Favourite times! ❤ I was a 16 year old Stones fan from Abbotsford BC. and witnissed the Tattoo U Tour in Seattle Kingdome in October ! Both nights I made it to! Wow I just loved the atmosphere of The Rolling Stones being in the Same Town even as we arrived! It is a different feeling when Rock and Roll Royally is in the house! The city was Buzzing! Alleys and everywhere everything had a Stones type of Logo or saying something about the Rolling Stones in Seattle! like just Tattoo U She’s My Little Rock n Roll! 🎵🎸🦅🎉 Lots if Bruthas and Sistas from Canada here , The Whip Comes Down! Shedooobeh!! ❤
I am 46 now. I saw the Stones in 89 and 98. I always wished I had been old enough to see them in the '81 tour. They were in their prime then. Right after the release of Tattoo You. It must have been amazing!
OMG I was there. That’s when a concert was a freaking monumental occasion to smoke some good stuff, pass it on, and commune with love and listen to some of the best music the world has ever heard. Wow. I didn’t know this existed. MEMORIES sweet memories.
Wow cant believe there is even a recording of this Thanks so much. I was a senior in high school in Atlanta and always bummed that I missed this one. I think it was a surprise, no notice kind of deal, late night show.
Holy. Fucking. Shit. Can't believe I found this. I was there, Row A, Seat 1, front row, no screen or barricade. Wow, I remember waiting FOREVER for them, think they came on shortly before 11. Will post some pics soon on flickr. Needless to say, thanks for posting.
Brother was 3rd in line for tix @ Civic Center driving from GT's Technique @ 1a.m.... stray cats stood next to us after they opened...2 are tiny, excepting their hair...mick smelled of beer, keith of whiskey
Ese dia yo cumplia 4 años de edad , todavia no los conocia recien en 1983 recuerdo que los escuche por primera vez y hasta el dia de hoy los escucho todos los dias, un placer poder escuchar estos recitales en vivo ....
it would be nice to have em on cd to play your favorite concerts songs whatever in your car cd player thatd be a good reason to put em all on cd it be fucking awesome ineed to get a burner this is priceless and so rare to listen to in your car truck whatever couldnt imagine it possible less than 5,6 years ago gotta get one
I was also there. Senior in high school and I HUGE stones fan, especially at that time! Amazing concert. I was sitting second row balcony center. During the very long delay, my buddy I noticed a guy sit down in the front row, across the aisle, to talk to some apparent friends and we noticed he had a backstage pass. After awhile he left and the stones finally came after a blazing set by the stray cats, their first ever in the US. During the second, we saw the guy with the backstage pass again, but this time he was playing the piano. It was his first show with the stones and his only on the 1981 US tour. He and Ian alternated throughout the show. I assume he was meeting the stones at the Fox as he was from Macon and the stones were delayed getting out of Savanah, where they took a day trip, due to fog. Nonetheless, it was a once in lifetime experience and Keith was running the show!
I wonder if that is Ian Stewart or Ian McLagan on piano. Keyboards sound amazing on this recording. Piano version of Under my Thumb is especially beautiful.
From the Rolling Stone mag review. Ian Stewart and Atlanta-based pianist Chuck Leavell (of Allman Brothers and Sea Level fame) had been kicking each other off the piano bench all night, Ian MacLagan had been zapping Jerry Lee Lewis runs on electric piano. www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/what-makes-the-rolling-stones-the-greatest-rock-roll-band-in-the-world-236192/
Would be SO cool to have a video of this (Saw em' in New Orleans that tour) but wondering aloud why they kept the entire stadium set-list for a club gigs? "Inquiring minds" wouldn't mind knowing!!
Never liked this tour. They steamroll through everything at the same breakneck tempos losing all the nuances that made them special. They did a bit of that in 78 as well, but those shows had much more fire. As much as I love Charlie Watts... At least this show has a better mix than most. A couple of interesting covers, but their 90s shows were better than their 80s shows.
Couldn't agree more. Woody admits it was a coke fueled tour. Mick Taylor said the same thing about the tempos when he joined them on stage in Kansas City. I saw the opener In Philly. Totally disappointed!!! Now we know why they hired back up singers. Never understood why Keith screamed into the mic'.
Beast of Burden from this set is one of RS's best songs ever.

Check out their European tour in 1973. That's when they were hitting on all cylinders. 1972 is really good too. 1981 pales in comparison.
mattie4183 81/82 was a great year for Stones. Ashby did a great film but Leni Riefenstahl should have had a shot at it!
The stones in 89 were better than 81.even better now.
@@josephgurzynski1053 not necessarily, it’s a matter of taste...

There’s still great live music to share that experience...
Thanks so much! Wow ... I was 20 years old back then, thanks for so much GREAT Stones music. Thanks again!!
35 of the 81 tour shows are on soundboard recordings circulating
Sweet Keith the best guitarist ever ..... Indeed a pleasure to hear this ....
Gets better as it goes, Ronnie and Keith a bit rough out of the gate, but by the time they get to Shattered, man, it's Stones Heaven!!!

that's rolling stones!!!!!!!!
Right on
Boy is a raw recording
its a bootleg
I was there - ticket stub says I paid a whopping $16 including service charges.
They played 105 minutes both in '79 & '81 at The Fabulous Fox...non-stop, and with 4500+ standing the whole time...
The Stones played ATL in 1979?
I believe it was '78. Step-dad went to show. He said ticket sale was announced overnight as "The Roaches ". Sold out under a hour in the morning.

Is this the show they were billed as the cockroaches?
