Linux is a rabbit hole for some pc's like mine. I tried four times to install Linux and after a bunch of Linux forums and much advice, not recommended, my PC would still not boot to Linux, so I went back to Windows 10 and it worked fine. You can also go to Windows 11 for unsupported hardware. Those of us in Third World countries find this option appealing. Not all people are rich like Microsoft and America and most arrogant IP guys! "Buy a new computer already".

I would've updated to 11, if it didn't suck as much. I use 11 at work and hate it, yet I don't really want to switch to Linux, since there's no HDR support, but it's a solid option otherwise. Extended support was an option I considered, and 0patch is now another one.
I may be talking out of my @$$ but I thought HDR support might be a thing in Wayland? I get it though, there are reasons why folk can’t/ won’t hop over to Linux. It’s been fine for me but I don’t really game anymore and don’t need to use things like Photoshop and so on.
@@sonsieface it's being worked in in Wayland, but AFAIK so far only SteamDeck has (its own and custom) HDR support implementation. Wayland folks are working on a more general solution, and it might be a thing sometime this decade *shrug*
don't forget Windows 10 LTSC 2021 IoT will still get support until 2032 also keep in mind Windows 11 LTSC 2024 IoT will not require a Microsoft Account, not TPM or Secure Boot and can be installed on even older PCs and still get support
I once upgraded to w11. And that is the worst decision I ever made for my laptop. When I played Saint Row IV on W10, i can put it on highsetting with minumum of fps drops happened. But in W11, it unexpectedly downgrade my performance. I have to put the game down to low-medium setting, plus the ram using of them gadgets and other useless background apps running. After like 5 minutes, I immediately downgrade back to W10. Never gonna do it again
Use win10 IoT LTSC if you are not ready for Linux Mint yet. Either change your license to IoT enterprise on a existing win10 install for just the 10 years of security updates. Or get the OFFICIAL IoT LTSC enterprise ISO from Microsoft's publically accessible database. DO NOT use the evaluation release of IoT LTSC as it CANNOT be legally activated. Use the full official ISO which you can activate with any legally acquired license key, which you can get from the company you work for.
Yeah LTSC shows it’s quite possible to make a more stripped down version of Windows. Shame Microsoft won’t even try something similar for the general public

Theres also windows server version (I think it was that version) which will still get security updates for a couple years.

That’s a useful option!
@@sonsieface I had to use a very specific language to not have my comment banned straight off.

Went to Linux in 2020. I think W11 is rubbish and a data scraping, advert serving, crap-fest.
You’re not wrong
