I'm in Portland, and wanted to fly to Cancun. But the flights were ridiculous. 29 hours of travel, for a 5 hour flight. I finally gave up, and decided to paint my office/studio space.
My guess is Serbia! Being a tour guide at Niagara Falls, I found a very interesting hint in this video... The statue of Nikola Tesla! We have a similar statue here on the American side of Niagara Falls.
I wasn’t 100% sure where you were until I saw the national flag at around 14 minutes in, I know most of the worlds flags so gave it away haha. 😁 I miss travelling myself, went to about 4 countries last year and itching to get away. We’ve just had access to air bridges here in the U.K. between here and a number of countries so thinking of going somewhere around late August or early September. Holding fire until I see how thing develop in the coming weeks. Stay safe Gabriel mate, your videos are awesome and definitely inspire me to go to a few different places. 😁
awesome video gabriel and am looking forward to part 2, etc. it is so good to see you traveling internationally again and sharing your experiences. for some of us, the mental health that comes with freedom to explore is paramount! may serbia serve you well!!!
I watched your video where you showed the Cancun, Miami and London airports. It was very interesting and so surreal how quiet the airport are now. By the way, the white mask that you were wearing has that metal bar on the outside that you can bend around you nose for a better fit which might keep it from slipping. Happy travels!
Gabriel you were always responsible and respectful in all your 72 countries travelled! You did well when it was your decision to stay in Vancouver quarantining there instead of the USA. By the looks of things in the United States regarding the rise of the pandemic when it could have been managed a month ago and decreased by now it seems once again you made the right choice to get away from there. You are safer travelling and honestly if everyone took the Covid serious as you have, all Americans would be allowed to travel but most are now sick. Keep your chin up!! Keep loving what you love and don’t let anyone tell you you are wrong to travel when most of us know you have a head on your shoulders and would never want to risk your health nor your loved ones nor innocent people around you. If you ever want to get away to a secluded peaceful setting and do some serious walleye and trout fishing this summer contact me... my husband and I have loved watching you for years... we consider you a dear friend.. Gabriel we live on a farm in a quiet hamlet in Saskatchewan and have lots of room for you!!
You should make a video talking about your most sketchy moments. (Being mugged, people threatening you, sharing a hostal with a crazy man, ETC.) BTW love your videos, me and my family watch them every weekend.
You are in Serbia because I googled orange in Serbian and got the word narandžasta and that was the word you pointed out to us. Good job Gabriel!! Happy travels.
Welcome to Belgrade :) I used to live there, now in Nis, a two hour trip south of Belgrade, you should come visit. Nis is the birthplace of Constantine the Great of the Roman Empire. Hit me up.
I mean... Gabriel is pretty responsible. He's a seasoned traveler. He's also a Canadian citizen, and Canada just doesn't have the stigma that the US has right about now. I hope the dude gets to travel to every country that'll let him in this year! I'm definitely going to continue watching his content.
To Gabe and everyone else travelling during the pandemic, PLEASE be careful. It just came out that Bald and Bankrupt contracted the virus while in the Balkans, nearly died, and will require some serious rehab to breathe on his own again. I'm not usually such a downer, but please remember that a lot of these places are reopening for economic reasons, and not because it's actually safe :(
@@GabrielTravelerVideos He posted it on his Instagram story this morning. I'd link a screenshot if I could. It should still be up on his page. Apparently he was in the ICU for 9 days with double pneumonia in both lungs. He says it will take him months to be able to breathe on his own again. I wish it were just a rumour.
@@adhdchaos4990 Wow, that's really crazy to hear. I'll look for it. I think I follow him on instagram but I didn't see it. The thing is, nowhere is safe really. Being back home in the US is no guarantee I won't get it, it's one of the worst places to be. So unless you're going to hide in your house and order food delivered for months or maybe years, you're taking a chance anytime you go outside, go to a store or restaurant or anywhere that other people are. Everyone has to make their own decision on that but as for myself, I self-isolated for a couple months and am now willing to face the risks of going outside. You could also get hit by a bus or get food poisoning or be robbed, etc. Life is a risk no matter what you do. Obviously I don't want to get the virus or spread it to others, but at some point we all have to accept that this thing isn't going away anytime soon and we're going to have to live our lives despite the possibility of getting sick. Serbia has extremely low numbers of cases compared to other countries around the world so despite Bald's unfortunate experience, it's probably a better place to be than a lot of other places.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos I know you're responsible Gabe. I'm just trying to remind people that the threat is still there. Unfortunately, the reason that Bald got sick was likely that he was going to very populated areas like nightclubs and a huge soccer game which is likely where he ended up contracting it. Those are just the activities that he showed. I'm in no way saying that most people who go travelling will get sick, but lot of people seem to have forgotten about the virus and continue to go about their daily activities as normal which leads to some unfortunate situations like his. Harald Baldr and Tall Travels were with him around the time that he would have gotten sick as well and I don't think that they're been posting at all either, so there's some concern there. I do really appreciate that you're following all of the regulations, wearing masks, etc. You're definitely the most responsible travel UA-camr I've seen out there right now.

@@GabrielTravelerVideos But the difference is being at home doesn't require you to get on a flying tin can stuffed with 300 other people breathing on each other for 12 hours. As bad as I wanted to travel this summer I'm just going to wait till this all dies down. I figure whatever I want to see will still be there when the pandemic is over. I have no reason to rush out into the world. I understand you have a travel channel and have a need to keep your viewers satisfied, so I can understand your predicament. Be safe.
I think you are in Belgrade, saw the Serbia flag on one of the buildings. Was trying to check out the car registrations, the only one I saw was a UK plate on a black Range Rover, typical!
Curious what your plans you have for your career. Short and long terms. I always thought u should operate a guided tour company....like treks to Himalayas, India and Greece. Maybe small customized group tours. Maybe start with outdoor back pack trips to Canadian Rockies, Denali, Glacier etc. I would be interested in a small group experience particularly to some of the more remote locations you often go to.
Gabe , I sure hope you had a test to see if you had the virus because you could have it right now and you could have just spread it all through Mexico and where you are right now Gabriel and in Mexico Cancun and playa del Carmen are not considered a low risk area that's why the beaches there are closed
Enjoy your videos. Great to see you travelling again. You are brave though I wouldn’t much fancy travelling myself at the moment. Good luck. Looking forward to your next video. Greetings from Northern Ireland.
Right about the time in the video when you took off your mask, you walked passed the SLOT CLUB. A google search came back with Hotel Slavija, in Belgrade, Serbia.
The Irish 'quarantine' is only a suggestion that you do so for 14 days - it is not mandatory. The only law is that you fill out the contact tracing form correctly, its a criminal offence not to do so, however there is no offence if YOU choose not to quarantine. Also there is no restriction between Ireland and the UK so you can avoid the UK quarantine by landing in Ireland and either going over the border to Belfast, catching a non-connecting flight from Dublin, or indeed getting a ferry across the Irish Sea.
Hi, inspired by your travel adventures heading to eastern EU. What is the cell service that you recommend when traveling that region? Didn't see on your list of travel gear recommendations. Thank you!
I believe Americans can also go to Iceland right now too, but must take a test upon arrival (or at least from last I heard). If you haven't been there yet, you should definitely put it soon on your list Gabe. Think you'd really dig it.
I've been in Puerto Vallarta Mexico on the Pacific coast for the last three weeks and the city is open. It's hot and humid af but it's really nice. I'm heading to Mexico City soon. Great video, I think I know where you are but I'l wait for the next video.
I have a few more things to wrap up around home and I'll be ready to travel again. Hopefully more places will be available to travel by then. I'm shooting for September or early Oct. Maybe sooner. Keep it easy man!
Wouldn’t it be worthwhile getting a Canadian passport (which you are obviously eligible for) at a Canadian consulate somewhere under the current travel circumstances/restrictions?
Unbelievable Gabriel!!! At 1410 you passed the the University of Belgrade engineering school. If there's any Nikola Tesla fans out there you will see the statue of him sitting down reading in honor of his birthplace.
I question for you gabriel, when you departure from Mexico to u.k what airlines was it? and did the check in front desk ask you if you need to have return flight to Mexico or did not say anything to you ?
I'm traveling to Europe pretty soon. I didn't do it sooner because the 14 day quarantine is kind of a long time to be indoors but o well, I'm exited. It should be more interesting with less tourist around.
I read your post on Medium, and I understand your point. My question is why couldn’t you wait until the pandemic is less severe? It seems like you’re being impatient and just winging it just so you can travel. I know you know this, but you’re 4000 miles away in a country that has no responsibility to protect you. You said yourself in March that you didn’t want to be in Mexico if things got bad, so why is traveling to Serbia 4 months later any better?
I explained in the article that when I made my plans to travel to Europe in early June, Europe was making very public announcements inviting tourists back to Europe, and at the time it looked like that would include Americans. When I flew to Mexico on June 16th things in the US weren't looking so bad. It was over those two weeks that I was in Mexico (in a low risk area) that the situation started to worsen in the US. Considering what was happening and the fact that I don't have a home anywhere, it made a lot more sense for me to fly somewhere with less of the virus rather than flying back to the US where it's escalating rapidly.
Gabriel Traveler oh well, a minor disagreement. I still love your videos, but don’t want you to end up like Ben from Bald and Bankrupt. Being around thousands of people in a city is a surefire way to get it.
I like Serbia, it's a nice place, but it's a very limited place to be in a lockdown, and the numbers of infections are spiking, so maybe jump over to Turkey and hang there, because you get 90 days on arrival, and the political situation of Erdogan makes a longtime lockdown much less likely than Serbia, and there are some nice villages in the mountains there to hang out in if the cities becomes crazy ;)
"Keep on rocking in the free" world while you can my friend!! We are in the philippines since the lockdown, but cannot travel anywhere, just enjoying the beaches nearby. Waterfalls are still closed.
First time I’ve ever seen your video was the one that said you were turning off comments due to brain drain / negativity.Anyways most ppl I’ve seen comment are really quite positive. A lot of you tubers would love to have this class of ppl.
Roughly 90% of the comments are positive, which is definitely appreciated. But 10% of a large number of comments means that you still have to filter through a lot of negativity every day. And my viewers don't see the worst of it, because that gets deleted. It's more a matter of the whole process of managing the comments section which takes up a lot of time every day.
nothing personal Gabriel, but for those who have a very limited amount of time off, quarantining for 2 weeks would blow through my vacation and then i would have to pay for that hotel, food and anything else, just to sit in a hotel? i will pass for travel until things, well maybe never get back to normal. 2020 is shot. 2021 could be worse. I live in Florida and some states want me to quarantine because i am from a high covid state. i will stay put and watch you travel. sounds good.
I totally hear you on that. I did six weeks of self-isolation in Canada, only going out to the supermarket and for walks. It gets old fast. Not much of a vacation.
I was thinking about you, I thought you were in some place, your house , waiting this pandemic situation... but my surprise is this video. YOU STILL TRAVELING!!! You aren't bored like a lot of us. You so lucky traveling . 👍👍👍👍
The city where you are declared state of emergency on Friday July 3rd. The numbers in Serbia are up massively, all of them; new cases, ICU, deaths and there are not enough testing being done. Serbias government did a money decision. Combined with a general lack of the population not changing their behaviour with some needed restrictions, like limiting crowds, it’s a viral disaster. If you are willing to risk your health that’s up to you but that ends when it puts all of us at risk. Honest question; have you grasped that it’s about all of us? It’s not about you. We need to protect each other. That’s what individual responsibility is about. You are a very smart guy so I expect more than the “me and my rights” which puts us all in danger. Please go home until we’re not all walking viral paper trails. It’s not a human right with non essential traveling.
He is taking every precaution and sanitizing and following rules like social distancing etc it's not like he is going to a concert. There are more irresponsible people who are not travelling but they are meeting up with friends, going to house parties, not washing hands, kissing, hugging etc in their own countries every single day and not following the rules atleast he is trying to do everything he can to be safe and not harm others also he is willing to quarantine if he has to before entering any country. Atleast we get to see something positive online instead of all the negative videos media always shows us now. Show him some love!
Blah blah blah. Just look at all the people dropping dead on the streets there. Yeah. Keep believing what they tell you. And oh, be first in line when that 'vaccine' comes out.
You shouldn't be traveling in this time. You should be lock down at home while this situation passes. May God bless you, Gabriel. You're a great traveler.
Saw a recent video of a British travel vlogger (Bald and Bankrupt channel) who just spent a month in an ICU unit of a Belgrade hospital. He had Covid, double pneumonia and blood oxygen levels below 80. Barely survived the ordeal and lost a lot weight.
It looks like Belgrade to me- I had a fantastic couple of days there last year. There is a fantastic walk by the Sava and Danube rivers in the city where you can see the confluence of these two great rivers- there is a video of the walk on my chanbel (just search on "Danube" on my channel). Glad you're travelling again.
Wherever you are looks pretty cool to me. A+ for going, Gabe. Great walk-and-talk. Yeah, we were supposed to go to Ukraine (Lviv, Kyiv & Odesa) in September but are going to postpone. As u mentioned, there is uncertainty about having to quarantine both going & coming back. One thing I've been impressed with, watching various travel videos and from what I see in NYC/NJ/MA, is how good people are about wearing the masks - whether in the Philippines or Colombia or Ukraine. If the whole world is taking things seriously & playing by the same set of rules - social distancing & wearing masks, hand-washing & sanitizers and temperature checks, etc. - as much of the world seems to be - then the key thing is to just not catch or transmit the virus on planes - then the whole world could travel freely because, when you're on the ground, everything is the same. From what I've heard/read, flying itself is the weak link.
the flag in the bldg is a giveaway. Belgrade Serbia.
"Where Can Americans Travel in 2020?" umhhhh…. to your local supermarket?
Gabriel is a true traveler and lover of individual freedom. Much respect.

I like Serbia, it's a nice place, but it's a very limited place to be in a lockdown, and the numbers of infections are spiking, so maybe jump over to Turkey and hang there, because you get 90 days on arrival, and the political situation of Erdogan makes a longtime lockdown much less likely than Serbia, and there are some nice villages in the mountains there to hang out in if the cities becomes crazy ;)
you're in Belgrade, heard that they're shutting down the city
Eastern europe, for sure...
Im a beer drinker and Jelen is from Serbia (7:02 in the video); thx
There is written University of Belgrade on that building at 14:28 . So I guess you are in Madrid?
Anyone notice the uk plate on car at 16.21?
"Keep on rocking in the free" world while you can my friend!! We are in the philippines since the lockdown, but cannot travel anywhere, just enjoying the beaches nearby. Waterfalls are still closed.
Belgradee,my city.
My guess is Belgrade or somewhere in Serbia? I read the sign on the door Ulaz which means entrance or enter in Serbian :)
I'm here in the USA rn... Americans should not really travel seeing how poorly we're managing this pandemic.

nothing personal Gabriel, but for those who have a very limited amount of time off, quarantining for 2 weeks would blow through my vacation and then i would have to pay for that hotel, food and anything else, just to sit in a hotel? i will pass for travel until things, well maybe never get back to normal.
Rather be 6 feet apart then 6 feet under...
Then stay 6 feet apart.
You're in Serbia 🇷🇸. That was easy.
Thanks for the update! Stay safe!!
He’s in Belgrade, Serbia, Yogoslavia 🇷🇸
I was thinking about you, I thought you were in some place, your house , waiting this pandemic situation... but my surprise is this video. YOU STILL TRAVELING!!! You aren't bored like a lot of us. You so lucky traveling . 👍👍👍👍
Always nice to see you on the road again 🤙
Asia is pretty much closed now. North Macedonia is hot for me this summer, but I am not sure how open it is and where I can enter it.

@@marijafilipovic8622 Byebye!
How about don’t travel? Stay in your countries and support the local economy?

Serbia
Serbia............
My first guess was Ukraine Kief but maybe Belgrade????

Serbia??
Wooow!
În Moscow...
So nice!
What time is there?
@Mario Michaelides

Gabriel - what's your favorite country to live if you had to pick one to live on a medium budget?
