Companies be like "you better buy our game or this franchise will die" and the proceeds to release to worst game known to existance and then trying to understand why it performed so bad come to the conclusion that it was the franchise's fault
I’m surprised people always think this is the case, wouldn’t it make more sense for the company to be intentionally killing the series off in instances like these? Like with Chibi-Robo, you make a game that is intentionally unacceptable but throw in “do it or else” so you have a motive/scapegoat to kill the series off with while still making a little cash from the fans who buy the game to support it. That way you don’t end up in an F-Zero situation where you don’t want to make a new game in the series but you can’t blame the series inactivity on death since you didn’t/don’t have a reason to kill it off that won’t make fans mad at you for “being selfish”. I mean, they can’t really go in thinking those games will actually do well.
Or release a port for full price. Like, might be a GOOD port like Chrono trigger DS Or a dogshit one like the one for iOS and Steam But since it won't sell as much as newer games they can blame it for not wanting to do more with the franchise...
Y'know, as a target employee I really appreciate the attention to detail for not only historical but the cultural accuracy in the representation of target employees via Target Employee. The way he held the sign at the end. dressed in the proper cultural attire is really heartwarming to see.

Why does this entire ending sketch, song number, and morale at the end with quick lyric changes feel like a joke old nostalgia critic would’ve made but about saving failing movie studios so we don’t have to watch more Michael bay before telling those movie makers and directors to just try harder because we don’t want rehashed shitty movies.

That doesn't really make sense. Who is this person, buying an online multiplayer game in 2022 and believing that the game disc won't become useless in the not so faraway future, due to the game being reliant on a server? We're not in 2007 anymore.
Fun fact: E.T was meant to be like that, but since it had to be a Christmas release, they expected the prototype in 5 weeks. After the tester played the game, he asked for a few changes, but the designer said it was the most he could do. And that's what caused E.T's failure.
That's not at all what happened, though? The Howard Scott Warshaw was only given five weeks to make a game period, not just the prototype. He had to find some way to adapt a movie like E.T. into an Atari game, which itself is basically an impossible task, and he's joked in modern interviews that he should have just made it a Pac-Man clone since it would've been easier and turned out better.

I think that’s because we not only don’t know how much the game actually sold, but we don’t know if it was an actual commercial flop or not. All Square said was that it didn’t hit their sales expectations, that can range anywhere from “it flopped” to “it sold decently but not enough”

He just kinda messed up the schedule a bit, because he took a long break in 2022 (with the first episode releasing as late as the mid of May). Edit: Yes, he does still work on the Christmas Special, but he would've probably just taken a break, had these videos released "regularly".

Looking at the ET for the Atari, its almost 40 years since the video game crash of 1983 and how they have improved making video games. Today, I think gaming industry should relearn from mistakes like they did 40 years ago.
That won't happen naturally, which is why another crash would be fantastic to kill off all the shitty devs and practices. But it won't happen because idiots keep buying pokemon and fifa.

I had a friend group where one guy bought the most expensive edition of Anthem on Pre-Order and his main selling point to him was that you could fly like Iron Man; safe to say I knew a bad looking game when I see one and it’s pretty easy when it’s an EA title
No kidding. I’ll give it he’s not perfect, but IMO the realness of imperfection can make a song sound better than if it was perfect (esp. with songs like this that are supposed to have more emotion) so I’m all for it.

Yeah if I'm not mistaken, according to his twitter, this is because he did not finish his Christmas video in time so did this basically as compensation.
@@xProward I thought it's because the Christmas special would then be episode 250 and double as the season finale (similar to "A very Madden 08 Christmas" as episode 50, "It's Awesome Baby" being episode 100, "It's a Bargain Bin Christmas" episode 150 and "Borderline Forever" being episode 200). He just kinda messed up the schedule a bit, because he took a long break in 2022 (with the first episode releasing as late as the mid of May).
Edit: Yes, he does still work on the Christmas Special, but he would've probably just taken a break, had these videos released "regularly".

Looking at the ET for the Atari, its almost 40 years since the video game crash of 1983 and how they have improved making video games. Today, I think gaming industry should relearn from mistakes like they did 40 years ago.
That won't happen naturally, which is why another crash would be fantastic to kill off all the shitty devs and practices. But it won't happen because idiots keep buying pokemon and fifa.

I had a friend group where one guy bought the most expensive edition of Anthem on Pre-Order and his main selling point to him was that you could fly like Iron Man; safe to say I knew a bad looking game when I see one and it’s pretty easy when it’s an EA title
