    I bought my H&K P2000 in 2006. Didn't use it for years because I lived in N.J. Now I moved to Texas and I shoot it outdoors all the time. I paid about $540 for it because my business partner had an ancillary business as a gun dealer so I got discounts on it, a Berettta .40, a Glock 30 and a Walther .40 as well as a Walther p99. Since then I've recently purchased a Kimber 1911 45 acp and a Kimber Micro 9. But my favorite gun is the H&K because it delivers power and is extremely safe with its DOA system. They called it the police version at the time.

    About a month ago I was out hunting with a buddy and after, we cleaned our guns. He totally "cleared" field stripped his Remington 11-87 and cleaned it entirely. Put it back together, racked the slide once and pulled the trigger for a function test... click. Racked it again... click. Racked it a third time... BOOM! He accidentally blew a hole through the roof of the hunting lodge.
    Please be mindful of where your other fingers are (or anything for that matter) when dry firing. ;)

      Wow, guess he didn’t TOTALLY clear his weapon after all. Glad everyone was ok, thank the Lord. That is one of the most common ways of accidental shootings and evidently your buddy learned a very valuable lesson.

    I bought the P2000 V3 9mm a month after having bought its little sibling, the SK V2 LEM 9mm. Why? Simply because the fit and finish, coupled with the LEM trigger, was outstanding. I have shot and own traditional DA/SA handguns, e.g., CZ-75 Compact, PX4 Storm, etc., but the HK P2000 SK LEM trigger was a revelation! I digress though, i.e., I wanted a 9mm HK with a decock button and the P2000 V3 9mm became available at an unbelievable price under $650.00 due to a "price match promotion."
    I digress though, your review is spot on with regard to the other reasons, e.g., European magazine release, quality of the polymer handgun's fit and finish, polygonal barrel, ambi-controls, and the recoil spring assembly with the absorber bushing that reduces recoil. Great review!

    HK P2000 in .40 is a superb pistol, very close in size to the Glock 23... and is a better pistol in every way (and I like Glocks) They are now pretty close in price, maybe $150 difference... WELL worth it. The double action trigger could be lighter... but that is a small issue.

    @WRNOVA Have both in 9. The 2000 has a thinner slide which makes the gun lighter. No safety. The decock is left of the hammer. Slide release is ambi. I like the trigger in the 2000 better. Mags are the same. Most holsters can accomodate both. If you like the USPc, you will probably love 2000.

    Bullseye! HK's are awesome. I've owned four of them and never had one failure. I shot .45 acp lead reloads through my USP tactical and expert with no problems. My .40 combat competition model was outstanding and the regular HK USP .45 was also fine. My favorite and most accurate HK was the USP tactical, don't know why maybe cause it was my first HK. Love these firearms, and definitely worth the money. Even a used HK is better than no HK. Great vid Tom, and I am looking forward to the next one.

    I have a P2000 in 40 S&W it is so smooth my fiance is a first time shooter was able to handle it in only her 3rd time shooting was very accurate. The first 2 times I let her use 2 9mm I have for recoil purpose. She didn't even notice recoil in P2000 great weapon. Handles even better than my cousin's VP40

    My opinion, H&K are the very best in hand guns. I own the H&K45 and consider it the best hand gun in my collection. I plan to buy the H&K P30 .40 cal, but have had trouble getting it with the 10 round mags. My state requires 10 round only for commercial use. H&K have only produced a very limited amount of 10 mags. There main focus is law enforcement at this time. The H&K P30 in .40 cal is H&K's newest development to date in the category of hand guns. You really need to try one in your hand!!!!

    My 2 cents: get a H&K P30 instead.
    It is an updated P2000. It's newer, better, improved. Has interchangeable back (3 sizes: S/M/L) and sides (3 sizes as well) plus a hammer drop.
    I put a couple of thousand rounds through mine it and had only 2 stove pipes with my first 50 rounds - no failures what so ever since then!

    Just yesterday, added the P2000SK to my handgun group. The first thing I usually do is a side by side with the others to check things out. What I had not realized until I got it home yesterday, was that the slide rail guides, are metal, molded into the polymer frame. Every other polymer handgun I own, has a complete, metal slide rail guide system. One piece. On the HK, its actually a polymer guide, with metal "flats" molded into it. I was alittle disappointed at this. Now, I am NOT an expert, and this is my first HK, but with a .40 and its recoil, the first thing I got worried about, was how these polymer guides are going to hold up, longevity, and wear. I've seen full metal guides crack on other makes, split sometimes as well, so this being a polymer molded guide, with a metal insert, just seemed at first thought, "flimsy"? With all the searching I've done, there is nothing reported that I can find of this being an issue, so this might just be me being overly critical of the most expensive handgun I own to date. ( Others being the M&P.40C, M&P Shield .40, Sig P320, Beretta 96, Taurus PT100) I'm going to check out your other vid, "HK Equals Quality" hoping to learn more about this feature. Thanks for the reviews by the way.

    • @Blaydrnnnr
      @Blaydrnnnr 8 років тому

      +davidrx795 Wow. Thanks for the reply. Ive been reassured by alot of people that this isnt an issue. I dont have tens of thousands of rounds through it, but its good to know it could. Since posting awhile back, I am now in the process of getting used to several weapons to decide which to use EDC. Differences like DA/SA or striker are one point. I started on DA/SA, but guns like my Sig P320 are almost the best of both worlds. Alot to get used to, but right now, my HKP2000SK in a Vedder holster, is my primary carry weapon. Thanks for the reply!

  • @Dr_Xyzt
    @Dr_Xyzt 13 років тому

    Really nice, and here's why. It doesn't seem to have a safety. I'm a firm believer in no safety, in a DA/SA configuration. First round is very deliberate, and the rest are under a light trigger if you really need to rip out the rounds. Also, no "why won't it fire" by having the safety under stress. The sandpaper-ish grip is great in case you end up with wet/slippery hands, and the ambidexterous properties are great if you need to use the other hand, which happens a lot. Very good gun!

  • @f0xmuld3r
    @f0xmuld3r 12 років тому

    @a2birdcage You're comparing the trigger to the USP 9mm, which I owned as well. Got the P30 instead (15yr later). I'm used to it by now. But the new kid on the block I hear good things about is the Walther PPQ (striker fire). So I am looking forward to getting some experience with that gun!

    Man I'm debating getting one of these or the sk new or waiting for the p30sk to release in a month or two. I've talked to some shops around here and they can get the p2000 for 632$ new through davidsons. The p30sk has same msrp as the vp9 so I'm guessing that will sell for around $600. Choices choices

    • @Condition1
      @Condition1 9 років тому +1

      jonathan retzsch Just a consideration, but are you planning to carry it? If so the p30sk will be a bit harder on your side if you run it IWB. The p2000sk has smoother sides which may feel better. I have a p30 and an hk45c and the 45c is definitely less noticeable when I carry it. Honestly i'm very interested in the p30sk as well, but just thought i'd share an observation.

    awww. why no video ever to compare the sk? im about to buy one and wanted the review. i'd definitely be sold if the sk came with the extended mag with spacer to make it appear like the full size p2000. was also checking out the p30sk, but I'm thinking it's a bit more bulky/rough on the grips for IWB carry.

      +callofgeorge I was just about to look for the SK video he promised here, but it sounds like it was never made. I bought an SK a couple of days ago and the only field strip video out there I can find so far is some ponce who doesn't even speak during the video. But anyway, I was also just on the H&K website and it looks like the 9 +2 mags are getting ready to be released in just a few weeks! There was a button you could hit to get notified, I THINK. Hope this helps. And if you find a non-suck field strip video of the SK pls let me know.
