I've owned glocks, sigs, berettas, XDMs, etc and this is my favorite subcompact of them all. I have the v3 model and it's a joy to shoot and very accurate. Get one you won't be dissapointed.
A USP40 was my first gun purchase. I still have it. I EDC a 40 S&W P2000. I love the P2000. I actually consider it to be a soft shooter. I find the P2000SK in 40 to be kinda harsh. I like it better with the flat magazine floor plates so I can just curl my pinkie finger under it. Using one of the larger backstraps that have cushioning may help with recoil.
It’s the same decocker as the P30L. John Wick likes it. So do I on my P30L. My P2000sk is lem trigger which is superbly perfect. You have to shoot it to understand ! Ps both in 9mm. I wouldn’t own a sub compact in 40 cal. Compact yes !
I just got one of these a few weeks ago. Got an HK45 V1 LE last winter, wanted a carry gun with the same trigger system as my big combat/duty gun, so I got a P2000SK .40 V3. It’s excellent. Definitely my new carry piece, extremely accurate, extremely controllable and mild-mannered recoil compared to the G27, and an easy 9+1 capacity of high-powered .40 S&W. Well-worth a custom holster, which will be ordered tonight.
It has been driving me nuts i can find anywhere to compare my glock 26 to the SK. You have fixed my problem! I really would like a sa/da this solves my problem. Thank you for the review!
Thx for the SK vid. Have a P2000 V3 in. .40 (so long that the ameriglo’s I put on it have faded) and it’s a good carry gun. That said, I do think it could use a couple of things: 1. Stippling/grip tape. That texture gets slick with even a tiny bit of moisture. 2. Gray Guns has a short reset trigger package that’s worth installing. Mine has been shot enough that the trigger and reset started feeling VERY sloppy. The GG kit put it back to where it should be (~$90). Next will be the flat-faced trigger from GG…😁.
For the last 12 yrs my duty issue was the .40 p2000 and SK. Thankfully this year we went to Glock 19/26, I do wish we had stuck with .40 tho. I too put thousands of rounds thru the HK,s never failed once even after years of exposure to sand salt water brush . I just hated the super heavy trigger.
I just got to hold this gun yesterday. A little lighter than my rami. Decocker didn't bother me. Not sure it's a good size to conceal other than the winter
It's strange because I have a lot of .40 semi autos that I shoot better...I am thinking the grip problem is related as well. Love the gun, just not perfect.
@@TheConcealedCarryChannel You are probably right about the grip. I have two USPs, a full-sized and a compact, both in .45 Auto, which have comfortable grips and are a pleasure to shoot. The other possibility is that the small size of the 200SK may not allow use / full use of the recoil mitigation features which I understand HK to use. In any event, I would jump at the chance to get one of these, and thanks for doing these videos.

I try and review as many different types of guns as I can, but my personal collection tends to be higher end guns, just because I have had good experience with them and I trust my life to them.
The decocker placement is due to wanting full ambidexterity. If you noticed, the slide release is ambi, the mag release is ambi. The decocker being where it is was I’m guessing their best option. I suppose they could have put that decocker like the other firearm you showed but on both sides. Could possibly have costed them more. Or made it ugly.
One thing you may want to check out. Hk parts offers flat magazine plates. I had the same awkward feeling on my standard size p2000. The plates make a world of difference.
The P2000 SK is a hammer fire designed pistol, and the hammer will stick out and you may not be able to wear it inside the belt. Personally, I find hammer fired pistols are less likely to misfire than striker fired pistols and I know the Glock guys will disagree. I'm biased to hammer fired pistols however as an owner of a Sig 1911 Nightmare .45, Sig P226 Elite 9mm. and HK P30 9mm. I'm looking for a daily carry myself and I guess I should consider a good 9mm striker fired pistol in the near future, but I don't know which one - perhaps a Glock 43 or a Walther PDP compact. Nevertheless, the P2000 SK looks to be awesome for concealed carry for outside the belt. Thanks for the review.
Nice review. I have a 9mm without the decock, it doesn't have the same kick as a 40 but I too experienced a similar grip issue that you had. Ended up grinding down the pinky extensions on sandpaper and very happy with how it turned out. Maybe give that a shot. Let me know if you know of a shop out there that could perform an optic cut for it. Thanks.
Just tried my new P2000sk out at the range a couple of days back, and yep, I have the same feeling about that "pinky" extension. Interestingly enough, the CZ Rami, same problem. These companies really don't do a thorough grip test on these pinky-things. A guy on ebay provides a pinky extension for the CZ, made from an altered Pearce extension, that fits the hand like downtown. Going to see if the he might have something for the H&K. I put 300 rounds thru my H&K with all different loads and brands, not a single problem. BTW... I had the gun in my hand about 20 times b4 I even noticed the decocker! The P30SK V1 has the lem trigger and tritium night sights. They have 13 round magazines that are very close to fitting flush. It is available only in 9mm.

As a lefty, I prefer the decocker at the rear of the slide as opposed to the left side of the frame on the USP Compact. Compared to more traditional designs, I can see how this would be a foreign and unnatural feeling. As a side note the orange background is great.

Sounds like the P2000 v2 LEM 9mm is what you need, to solve your issues, with the P2000sk. The LEM trigger takes a lot of trigger time to get used to it. Otherwise, you get all your fingers on the grip and a 3.66 inch barrel. Works for me.
Great video, really like the orange background, good contrast to show the product you are reviewing. I have the p2000 v3 in 9mm, it is a range toy, need lots of practice more than my Glock 17
I got used to the trigger my doing dry fire with my P30 every day. I also fired every magazine in double tap strings decocking after every double tap. That way, I get 5 double action pulls for every magazine. Double to single action transition is critical.
Great Video. I have an HK P 2000 I bought new in 2006. It's got a slightly longer barrel and grip. Its imprint states HK/P2000 instead of P/2000. Instead of "BD" on the slide stamp it's described as "AE" which I believe means it's an earlier date. It even came with the "collector's" first shot bullet casing sealed in a small envelope signed by the "collector" in case the gun is sold for historical value. I probably have about 500 rounds or less through this gun since I bought it new in 2006. It fits a Glock 30 holster pretty well. I've never had one failure to load with this gun. I also own the Kimber Micro 9 and a Kimber Stainless II .45ACP along with the Glock 30 and a Sig P299 (.357/40SW). I also have a few other guns that I won't compare here. To me, the HK P2000 is the almost perfect carry gun. But due to its size, it has a visible "footprint" when worn concealed. I like to carry a Canik Elite 9 because it is more concealed and can hold 15 rounds in the mag. I used to carry the Kimber Micro 9. Although it is a beautiful piece of art, it can not be depended upon in case of an emergency. Its short sight radius requires some practice to get used to. Also, it always jams up at the outdoor range I belong to. The Kimber Stainless II .45 ACP 1911 is much more reliable and extremely accurate, but it's too large for me to carry concealed. I'm not a person who likes to show off my gun hanging from my side, even though I have an LTC in Texas. So I carry the Canik Elite 9mm. But if I had my choice, I'd carry the HK P2000 for safety, or my Sig P299 .357. But not the Glock 30, which I like at the range. I don't feel comfortable carrying the Glock anywhere near my nads. The DAO of the P2000 makes it a perfect gun to carry, equal to the Sig P299 .357/40. IMHO.
AE means your gun was manufactured in 2004. BD means an HK manufactured in 2013. The system HK uses is as follows. A=0, B=1, C=2, D=3, all the way to K which stands for 9.
Bought a used HK P2000 back in July of 2023. It date code was BC= 2012. It had a shell case with a date on it I think was May something of 2012. I didn’t know what it was and threw it away. Anyway it didn’t fit quite right and only had the XL blackstrap. Finally ordered some smaller blackstrap and the medium fits good and I shot better with it. Oh mine is a 9 mm v2 LEM version.
@@TheConcealedCarryChannel I went to my local FFL and tried it. Unfortunately, my hands are too big for the P2000sk to work for me. The USP 9C is perfect for my hand size. Thank you for your feedback and recommendations.
Ya know then make magazines without the finger ledge. For $100 you can throw your own Trijicon sights on it. That said for $800 it should have luminous sights. I’m adding em to mine. You can also swap in the bobbed hammer.
I have zero problems with the hammer. But I have a holster that covers the hammer. Obviously some holster companies are not doing a sufficient job researching it. Also love the rear decocker. Oh and get the bigger mag with the xgrip.
I have the LEM V2 9mm. It doesn’t have the hammer sticking out. Way better for CC. No decocker either. I’m very happy with it. It’s a beautiful, accurate pistol. I don’t care for the version in this video. Too many issues.
I agree with the extended hammer & the decock being a negative. I carried the USP compact & the P2000 compact both double action only for 20 years with the US Border Patrol, both with LEM triggers and bobbed hammers. IMHO that’s the way to go.
Thanks for the well-articulated video. I like your presentation style. I had the same issue with my pinky on the P2000SK. A good solution to resolve the pinky issue is to buy an OEM P2000SK flat floor plate. They cost $10. Curious, if your P2000SK was LEM, 9mm, and had a flat base plate, would you like the P2000sk as much as your P30SK?
It's possible. I am normally a fan of DA/DA but I just don't like the rear mounted de-cocker. I think with the right magazine plate it is still a good contender. Thanks for watching!
@@TheConcealedCarryChannel I have the DA/SA and all I did was took a heat gun to the lip of the floorplate, which made a huge difference. I also bought 2 of the standard USP 10 rounders (I'm in California) with the X-grips which help as well. Additionally, shoot only 180 grain ammo as 165 grain produces great recoil vs. the punch from the 180 grain. I'm now curious to test some of the not-so-available 200 grain (Grizzly makes them) out of this little beast. Best defensive ammo so far has been Gold Dot and Federal LE 180 grain. Superior grouping with these rounds. The heavier grain is key. These little (or big) adjustments have made a big difference in the shoot-ability of this gun.
It’s not the grip. It’s the trigger. You would have been happier with the lem version. I have this gun in 9mm lem and it’s spectacular. Sub compact always 9mm. ! Ps I use Tulster kydex iwb perfect. I’m a point shooter. Sub compact no sights, less to snag !
It's the most reliable pistol of it's size. I prefer to bet my life on hammer fired HK or SIG.. The P2000SK 9mm is my EDC. A P30 9mm sits on my nightstand.
LOL....OK, now I'm writing an addendum to the below post. I watched this video on the 2000sk and then happenstanced upon a video you did a year earlier (2 years ago) on the USP Compact 9mm. I'm leaving the original post below in place because I took the trouble to generate it. BTW....that video from 2 years ago was excellent as well. Thanks for the info on both great guns. More than ever now leaning toward the USP Compact in .45. Merry Christmas! Sincerely....excellent presentation. I've compared (online only via photos and spec descriptions) the 2000sk .40 cal and the USP Compact .45. Can't compare in a LGS because they're always out of stock of the USP compacts. I'm leaning toward the latter because of 1.) the decocker location if I choose DA/SA version, 2.) the safety only and bobbed hammer if DAO, 3.) the somewhat longer grip, and 4.) the two added rounds in the magazine compared to my Glock 43. Curious as to why you don't prefer the USP-C .40 caliber because of the issue with small grip on the 2000sk....being that the USP-C is only about 3oz heavier, can come in DAO without a snaggable hammer spur, and gives you an additional round in the standard magazine (although I remember you saying you're ok with the 2000sk capacity).
good video but saying this gun in not out the box accurate is not the case. i have had mine since 2006 0r 2007, & it is extremely accurate. it shoots so hood i bought a 357 sig barrel for it.
Love how easy the disassembly is, I’ve personally got small to medium man hands and have the perfect fit for the gun. Sorry that’s not the same for you. I personally got the 9mm version and don’t feel it’s all too snappy but that’s probably just because of the smaller cartridge, great review either way!
This weapon fits my hand absolutely perfectly! It couldn't get any better! I just wish Glock would get the hint! Accuracy is unbelievably good! For you(s) out there sweating the decocker! Get over it! The good on this one out-weighs the bad! ^..^~~
Glad I stay with what works. HK up and now the 2000sk 40. Grate guns. I had one of them junk glocks in 45. I know they just put a barrel and a magazine and stick it in a 9 mil frame. Which is what caused me to get rid of it before it broke. I heard different about the 9 mm but I'm not going to put my life in danger. Anyway it's been hard for me sometimes I grabbed my springfield.xdm or my HK.
@@darrenhaywood7924 What are you implying? That this is some kind of "break-in" period, or poor ammo choice? Do you own junk firearms and consider this normal?
I would have reached out to them. That sounds like a defect. Mine I fired like 500 rounds right away. I didn’t even oil it. Not one jam or issue. I would look into having them fix that.
What are you talking about dude? Its very accurate, not snappy at all. It’s no different than shooting a 9mm. One draw back is the small magazine but you can use full size p2000/Compact USP magazines with an X grip adapter..I have one on my hip. I use it as EDC and around the house. It is Awesome. I have the LEM a trigger on mine
Why's that? I like it on mine. If I decock the gun it is going back into the holster, thumb is already is a good placement to hold the hammer forward while safely reholstering.

Awesome gun!!
Weird
I had the same problem with a sw .40 compact
Switched to the hk and loved it
Have they dropped the .357 Sig for this piece.
Would you recommend the P2000sk in 9mm with the LEM trigger? I did get the USP9c based upon your recommendation. Thank you sir.
Yes. The P2000sk is also a great pistol. I’m not a fan of the rear de-cocker, so the LEM variant is a thumbs up in my opinion.
@@TheConcealedCarryChannel thank you sir
@@TheConcealedCarryChannel I went to my local FFL and tried it. Unfortunately, my hands are too big for the P2000sk to work for me. The USP 9C is perfect for my hand size. Thank you for your feedback and recommendations.
Ya know then make magazines without the finger ledge.
For $100 you can throw your own Trijicon sights on it. That said for $800 it should have luminous sights. I’m adding em to mine.
You can also swap in the bobbed hammer.
Aside from the grip size and caliber, are there any real differences between this and the P30SK? Which one would you rather carry?
I prefer the P30sk. Between the grooved grip and the LEM trigger, it just feels better in the hand a shoots smoother.
@@TheConcealedCarryChannel Thank you. I am leaning towards the p30 as well.
Use your left hand to decock the weapon without breaking grip. Why would you try to use your right thumb??
These little (or big) adjustments have made a big difference in the shoot-ability of this gun.
all my hks are v3. i love the dcker location.
All I carry is HK Nothing else.
Nice
Love it
This gun is a great shooter. Glad it’s in my stable.
Why the whining about the decocker? You drop it once, put it in the holster and forget about it. How often are you going to use it on a carry gun?
I have a Milt Sparks holster for my sk.....very comfortable.
Double single action over striker fire any day is better in every way
If it doesn’t have a decocker is that an older model
A very well machined slide, highly reflective!
The V2 with the LEM doesn’t have the hammer sticking out. It’s a better model. It raises the price by about $100.
I like feeling the hammer because it reminds me it's not a Glock.
I have same gun in 9mm great gun...
I own this gun ...its a good EDC. 9MM.
good video but saying this gun in not out the box accurate is not the case. i have had mine since 2006 0r 2007, & it is extremely accurate. it shoots so hood i bought a 357 sig barrel for it.
^..^~~
HK2000 vs UPS compact would be more comparable. Great video though. Thanks.
And VP9.
Sounds like you're not enamoured with it. If you want to get rid of it, let me know and we'll see if we can work a deal.
Putting one on layaway today
use a 13 rnd usp mag with xgrip and u will hold perfectly
Спасибо за хорошо проделанный обзор показал пистолет со всех сторон!
To solve your grip issue, buy a flush mag and hold like you do the G27.
For the first 100 rounds, my P2000sk shaved metal off of its frame rails. Not confidence inspiring at all. It lives in the gun safe.
Really? I would get with HK on that...seems way abnormal for them.
Did you bother trying different ammo ? Or did you shoot 100 rounds and just say oh well...
@@TheConcealedCarryChannel Agreed.
I got the 9mm as my carry
damn, no offence but you've got some real sausage fingers lol. Nice review though :)
Yes...Yes I do.
X grip w 12rd mag
Cz rami 9mm, check it out, unfortunately cz does not offer them all the time.
CZ75 PCR.....👍
Cut the pinky grip and the hammer off. 2 problems solved. Do they make a flat bottom mag? Decoker, sell me the gun!!!
I’m considering trading my mint Browning BDA .380 in nickel for a new 9mm PK2000sk. Decisions…decisions.
Hk way better
Your hand fits
...... . should've bought HK VP 9 SK.
I have shot the VP series. Nice firearms, no doubt. I just prefer the hammer fired when it comes to my HKs.
I got both! The VP9 and VP9SK are range toys for me.
I think you didn't do that great on the shooting is because of the short barrel
Williams Linda Anderson Margaret Jackson Sharon
That de-cocker location is a NO GO.
Yeah...I'm not feeling it.
It is ambidextrous. I'll take it. I carry the full size P2000.
Why's that? I like it on mine. If I decock the gun it is going back into the holster, thumb is already is a good placement to hold the hammer forward while safely reholstering.
The location works for left handed people
Cut the hammer.
Got one for my wife for xmas.. she doesn't like guns, going to put it under tree with her family. They are ok with it..hopefully she will like it.. or im on the s$#@list.
Give it to me lol 😂
How did that go?
if you werent a pansy youd file off the pointy bit of plastic on the magazine base plate. if that effects function i will eat my hat.
Awkward if right-handed, ,Like it even less if left-handed shooter. Decocker was dealbreaker for me, not joking.
I dislike the decocker location a lot on that firearm, prefer the standard mag release on the trigger guard.
I disagree. As a left handed user it’s an extremely good gun. It’s fully ambidextrous for me. I really appreciate the way they’ve built this. I love mine
To solve your grip issue, buy a flush mag and hold like you do the G27.
