Thank you!! I replaced my power steering rack pretty recently and I’ve been meaning to flush the system. I’ve been waiting for this post
Cool! Just the video for ya haha
Just did mine, thanks for the excellent walkthrough! 👏
My man! Keep up the good work!
Thanks bud
Man your videos are gold. I have a 96 and looking to do a few things including flushing the old power steering fluid. Thank you!
No problem!!!
Just picked up a 3rd Gen and I've extensively watched your videos leading up to my purchase. You (and other UA-camrs via your references) have made my journey buying an older car a much less daunting experience. Thank you!
Glad we could help!!
Just got my 99 sr5 back it’s 2wd.. she has 305,618 on the clock and still running great! Will be doing all fluids here soon
Very nice
Co incidentally, I have the rig with almost identical millage, 308,500 miles.
Such a great video. Always so concise and thorough. Doing this tomorrow, my ps fluid is sludge. Brake fluid is garbage too, I’ll check your other vids for a brake flush. Thanks a ton man!
Thx a bunch..after having fluid flushed at shop now car wanders..hope rack is ok..will flush when temps warm up here in colorado 😀
Hmm check those suspension parts and alignment haha
Thank you brother, I can’t wait to make a huge mess now 😂
lol
You rock
Thanks
Regular new content? Nice.
I try! it's been hot so videos will be limited lol.
Using a cheap turkey baster works well for removing fluid from the reservoir. I also use it to remove old fluid from a brake reservoir when flushing the brake lines.
Straw is free and more commonly available :) but can take some time.
i used my old football water bottle with the straw and used it to siphon as much as i could out
Love your videos! Question. You're able to turn the wheel without it being turned on?
Yes, if you raise it on jack stands
I just added an inline magnetic filter for the return line on my '01. Have you done this on yours? Thoughts? Also, my belt seems to be slipping when turning hard to the right, is this a pretty easy adjustment? Or maybe I should go ahead and replace the belt.
Thank you for the video. Thinking. Should I do this when the engine is not hot. Maybe the power steering fluid will burn the PVC hose if still hot.
Probably fine. Don’t think that fluid gets too hot.
Hi there - can I ask why you had to put the front up on jacks? You could just turn the wheel lock to lock with it still on the ground right?
No power steering so it’d be difficult. You don’t want the vehicle on as it’ll pump the fluid
Hello, great channel!!
What fender flares are those??
Stock sr5 flares I guess they came like this in Canada
@@PhoRunner interesting, might be a Canada thing.
Truck looks awesome, great videos!
Thanks
Hey there got my 99 today and noticed that power steering fluid is leaking from cap any ideas guys please let me know
Do you turn on the truck or just turn the key to the on position?
Yes to unlock the steering wheel
How much did you use to flush/fill? I have a partial big bottle and I'm just wondering it it's enough.
Took a whole gallon
@@PhoRunner whole gallon?
Didn't you say you had 2.5qt. left in there?
Did you have to go and buy some more?
I have 2 qt.
Wonedering if that is enough for flush n fill
I had to buy more yes
Hi , My fluid keeps coming up, what should I do , I barley put a quart
I’m not sure what you mean
@@PhoRunner I figured it out I forgot to plug the 1st opening so the fluid would just flow out
Sorry for late response lol
Are the tires supposed to be totally off the ground?? 😅
Hey man just out of curiosity how many miles do you get on a full tank until E light comes on ???
I’m not sure but prob 200 lol city
Dude I’ve been stressing out so I got my catalytic converter stolen & I use to get 200 a tank with just 265/70/17 (trd wheels) with 3 inch lift ever since I got it stolen I average city like 175-180 highway is like 195 I’m just glad you didn’t say 250 or something like that 🤣, when I fill up from my gas light on I get 12 gallons no more is that about right ?
Usually 13-14 gallons when light comes on. Tank has some reserves but one time I ran it til it died and it still filled up with like 16 gallons. Supposed to be 18 lol.
You’re the man , I tried to do your gas gauge fix but no results do you think it’s the sending unit ? It only happened once after my O2 sensors started going crazy from the cat being gone once I fixed it I filled up & I seen my gauge drop on 1/4 tank & slowly go back up to full but it was only a one time occurrence
I thought you sold the 4Runner?
Get pranked!
It was an April fools video hehe
Dang, I fell for it too. 😭 good to know it’s still around.
Lol sorry fellas
@@PhoRunner i was sad when I heard you sold the truck. I’m glad it was April fools. Totally got me. I was going to sell mine too. Lol
What roof rack are you using Pho? (:
My power steering is leaking
Would it have been easier to do this job by removing some stuff out the way? Like the air filter box etc...? Great Video and glad I found your page!
Most definitely . That air box gets in the way of everything haha
