You can use hose picks to break the seal on the hose to make it easier to remove 3:00
True story. I worked part time for O’reilly auto and got into an argument with a mechanic about using ATF in the steering.
He asked how a part store employee knew better than him.
I responded that my full time job was for Jtekt automotive. THE FREEKING MANUFACTURER of ALL Toyota steering parts.
That wasn’t good enough for him. Smh.

I just used Preston power steeling fluid full synthetic for Asian vehicles in my 4th generation 4Runner.
How does it fair in the system? I have always used the Toyota recommended ATF personally!

When I first bought my "new to me" 2003 4Runner in November of 2022, I noticed a leak on the driver's side of the steering rack. Nothing major, but noticeable and the reservoir was almost empty. I added some AT205 and ATF to the reservoir and the leak has disappeared. It's still at the proper level as of yesterday.
Yes, I'm cheap and I know someday I'll have to change the steering rack, but not today.

@@looseaxles being that I don't drive the car regularly, I have a battery maintainer hooked up to it so I can't help but look at the reservoir each time I pass it. Yes, it's dirty and stained so I shake the car and also check with my ONE PIECE CAP.
Got mine from a buddy. 2003 in October 2022. I don't have a leak, but my psf looks like molasses. Gonna try this out.
Great video! My return hose cracked and all fluid leaked out while on the highway. Fluid everywhere... Reservoir and lines are bone dry. Should i perform a flush before replacing the bad hose? All the other HP lines and hose are good. Just ine small section. Had Napa cut 3/8 radiator hose to length.
Thanks Gabriel! Oh boy! I would probably flush the little remaining out of the resi and then fill it up with new fluid! If it leaked quite a bit the remaining may have burnt or got stuff in it, so better to ensure it’s all clean!
