    Some tips from a 2700+ hour scout main.
    -Nobody notices a good scout, but everybody notices a bad one. It's a thankless job, but an important one.
    -If you're not almost out of flares by the time the first resup is called, you're not using enough flares.
    -Put faster recharge on your pick axe. Everything else is useless, for the next point.
    -Platforms are a luxury, not a necessity. Do not depend on them. Learning the grapple + power strike is invaluable (this is why I said faster recharge, the aoe perk does NOT make a bigger hole). If you're not a master at it, load up a haz 1, find a good wall, and practice until you are. Eventually, platforms will do nothing but get in the way.
    -Build synergy is important. We don't have a "hold down trigger, point away from face, kill everything" option. Make sure you're primary compliments your secondary. Good example: electric reload GK2 and trifork volley boltshark with magnetic shafts.
    And last but not least: Special Powder is the absolute BEST overclock in the game and don't let ANYONE tell you otherwise.

      1. Grapple + power attack is probably the most game changing tip for scouts.
      2. i always need at least 1 weapon for swarmers and 1 for tanky targets.
      3. special powder is indeed the best

      1. Grapple + Power Attack works in every scenario except weird terrain generation like magma core where there is a nitra vein in a crack in the ceiling
      2. Bullets of Mercy GK2 + Cryo Bolt Crossbow is a crowd slayer
      3. Special Powder is actually bad (not)

    • @Jorvalt
      @Jorvalt Рік тому +7

      Correction: Special Powder AND Hoverclock are *both* the best overclocks in the game.

      "Nobody notices a good scout, but everybody notices a bad one. It's a thankless job, but an important one." Absolutely this!
      Although I´m quite new to the party (lev. 55) and mostly playing as scout I noticed that even so-called greybeards don´t recognize and value a good scout. Yesterday I was in a public lobby with 3 high lev. players. At some point they started questioning my contribution to the team and griefing the chat. I´m sure they would´ve kicked me but I was hosting. In the end I had most resources and kills (including many high value targets they barely had to encounter). After the match I asked them what they think about my contribution!? They left wordless and without saying bye ;) I love being the scout...

    The best scouts I've played with in my short two week ventures down into the caves are gone as soon our ground-locked boots hit the cave floors.
    Every so often you'll hear, but not see, the zipping of the team's ghost as your Nitra count ticks up.
    And everywhere you walk is inexplicably lit up for the rest of us miners to collect the lowly ground minerals.
    Aquarks and eggs will suddenly fall from the heaven when you stand near the deposit points.
    Then as soon as the team gets into a fight, the scout suddenly reappears, flying around and raining death from all angles on the bugs (who are probably fascist).

    Scout Golden Rules
    - Light it up
    - Finish the Secondary
    - Get (all) the Nitra
    - Reach the Dropship alive
    That's it. It's that easy to play Scout well. Everything after that is icing on the cake.

    thrown flares inherit your momentum, so if you throw a flare while grappling, the flare gets flung much faster and further than if you threw it at a standstill. this can be helpful if you’re out of/low on flare gun ammo and need to light up a hard to reach area like the ceilings of large caves that could hold minerals or long stretches of tunnels between the larger caverns

  • @maslnaa

    during storms of sand and rain, shoot flares at the ground to enhance visibility of incoming bugs for yourself and teammates. shooting them at ceilings and walls will have most of their light be obfuscated until the storm ends.

  • @Ninjat126
    @Ninjat126 10 місяців тому +21

    The support a Scout can bring to the team is massive, but less flashy than a satchel charge or sentry gun.
    Big swarm coming in? The Scout can light the entire cave in a couple of clicks.
    Team finishes a swarm without taking a scratch? That's probably because your Scout took out all the spitter bugs before they ever had a chance to attack.
    You've got enough nitra for another supply drop? That's probably because the Scout found a couple of nitra deposits up in the ceiling where regular tossed flares wouldn't have reached.

    Here's a handy technique for Scouts I learned called the Snap Grapple. Suppose you are playing scout and the fourth to join you is another driller or you are playing solo in Onsite Refining, and you are having Bosco fill out the pipeline (he can do that) how do you mine those high up resources that are flush against to wall? The answer is mid-air power attacks with your pickax. The key to the technique is to let go of you grapple part way to the target and the power attack. If done right it will make a hole you can stand in to di to or hind the resource. The timing can vary depending on loadout of you grappling hook and it does take practice. It is easy to do in Sand Blasted Corridors or into Morkite.
    Engi Platform are still great, especially for resources in to ceiling, but now if for some reason you don't have one it's not a mission fail. Oh, and you can also use this against melee weak enemies too like breaking Brundle armor or a powerful strike against the heart of a Tyrant Weed. This version I call the Snap, Grapple, Pop!

    • @Webly101
      @Webly101 Рік тому +6

      That’s not snap grappling for the record; snap grappling is when you make a quick snap-turn and shoot your grapple in a general direction, usually to avoid fall damage or enemy damage. The skill portion is being able to grapple to a useful point in a split second

    A little note I'd like to make here is that praetorians are actually not a priority for Scout. They may be fairly deadly if you get caught by one, but they're easy to spot and easy to evade (even for those without a grappling hook). Leave those to the gunner and driller. Enemies like acid/web spitters, mactera, and septic spreaders are a much higher priority and much easier for you to deal with as a Scout.

    • @xQc_Enjoyer777
      @xQc_Enjoyer777 Рік тому +10

      Yeah it's a shame how many people don't realize Praetorians & Oppressors are LST's (large single targets) not HVT's (high value targets) due to their slow movement speed and large health pool & size they are much better left to someone with a decent ammo economy against enemies with lots of hp.

      IFG is mostly used for applying shock effect on enemies to get more value from bullets of mercy overclock or the zhukov upgrade
      Also i think you can carry a max of 8 stun sweepers
