I can say without reservation that EVA Air is my favourite airline by a long way. I have travelled LHR - BKK return on EVA maybe a dozen times since 2006, and apart from a 2 hour delay which happened once, their aircraft and service are tops. Even their economy class seems a cut above other airlines flying direct on this route (Thai or British Airways); leg room, cabin crew, food and drink selection are much better. The aircraft used on the LHR - BKK route are currently the Boeing 777-300ER, but I would certainly wish to try their newer 787 at some point, although I'm not sure I would change in Vienna just in order to do so. Well done, David, for a fantastic and eye opening report this time.
MrSnout5 I agree 100% , it would take a great deal for me to consider any other airline , like you we travel LHR-BKK-LHR every year and always love the service from EVA Air.
Last month i flew from Brisbane where i live to London with EVA airways on board their Boeing 787-10 to Taipei from Brisbane and then on their Boeing 777-300ER from Taipei to London via Bangkok and they are nothing short of spectacular i will definitely be back to fly with them again soon.
EVA is one of the best. And Taiwan is a great tourist destination too. I haven't been there, but my equally well-travelled brother has, and he says it the best. Apart from Japan, that is.
A very nice review. I recently flew EVA business BKK-LHR-BKK. Some of my thoughts : - Ticket was reasonable and towards the lower end of the scale, with the benefit of a direct flight to LHR versus numerous European/Middle-East transit options. - Your hard product looked different, on my flight middle seats were aligned straight but window seats angled. I flew out in middle and back at window. - Overall hard product was very comfortable, on window seats the leg cubbyhole when sleeping was a little tight. - Loved the 1-2-1 configuration, a sense of space and privacy in all seats. Hopefully, this will continue to become more common in business class. - Lounge at BKK was good. At LHR, I was instructed on boarding pass to go to Air Canada lounge, this was a shame as I had read that EVA business could use any of the Star Alliance lounges there. The Air Canada lounge was distinctly average and disappointing. - Personally not that bothered with in- flight food but must say it was very good. - Customer service on board was exceptional . Discreet, polite & professional. - On the outbound flight, they appeared to run out of beer within a couple of hours of take-off and we were offered some kind of weird Taiwanese jasmine tea-beer hybrid instead 😄. Not ideal. Also kicking myself for forgetting to try the famous Evergeen Special cocktail 😢 In conclusion, probably the overall best direct flight option for BKK-LHR and a very enjoyable journey. I would still say Emirates is my overall favourite business class, (although I note their prices are noticeably creeping up ex-BKK ) but I would put EVA business ahead of others such as Turkish, Thai, Korean, KLM & Lufthansa.
La Grande Dame! Wow. EVA still serving some of the finest champagnes in J, after all these years. The food looks top notch too. Can't wait to try them!
I saw a trip report of just how bad *Emirates* has gotten as of late (super rude staff and inedible meals on a Bangkok to Dubai flight also on Business Class).
I worked in Taiwan on the construction of the Taiwan High Speed Rail, Eva Air were part of that company so all our flights were with them. We flew premium economy and with air miles we could up grade. If we bought our own tickets we got an automatic up grade, in the four years I was there I mostly flew business class, though it was not as nice as the present day version. I now live in Vietnam and fly Emirates to the UK every 3 or 4 years and spoil myself by flying Business class, they operate the B777 for the Saigon to Dubai leg and it's very similar to Eva's, but the crème la crème is the A380 for the Dubai to Birmingham leg wow what an aeroplane. In the UK and many other destination there is a complementary limo service from and to the airport for business class passengers, plus a speedy check in and short cut to security checks. I do miss Eva Air though and especially all the crew members who lived in the same complex as me.
Good Moaning Vietnam - I live in Bangkok and have used Emirates for years into BHX but their prices to Brum are now ridiculous, 50%+ more than London/Manchester. Is this the same out from HCM ? If not, maybe I will take a connection via Vietnam 😁
Cathay businesses is not meet my expectations for the last five years, food is just served like economics plus . Going down hill, that why I changed to fly EVA . Food and service is much enjoyable. Only I need to get connected flights to HKG
Absolutely loved it. Although I'm not enthused about premium classes, because of the exorbitant prices, this video was magnificent. Thank you for sharing.
Guys this is the best aviation channel on youtube! Your passion about flying really does come through. Big fan :D keep up the great work! Ps. David you're so cute when you pat the things you show us, like "yeah pillow, good boi", "blanket you're a good boi too", "and you too, amenity kit" :D so cute
I very nearly booked swiss air to fly to Vienna from Hong Kong via Zurich, on their old A340 aircraft, and with seats that are either blocked for their premium members or PAID to reserve. After watching this and checked out the very attractive price, I've decided to stick to EVA instead. Even if that means I had to fly into Bangkok on a separate ticket, still works out quite reasonable, and almost same as Swiss all the way, but your get Asian FA who normally are nicer than the western ones, plus u can't beat a nice 787-9, 1 2 1 configuration (aisle access everyone), pyjama and all that! A shame they no longer give out the rimova kit, they were fabulous and so collectible.
👍🏻 to David for dressing for Business Class. The last flight I was on Swiss ZRH-LAX, the 30 something across the aisle from me sported shorts, flip flops, and a baseball cap which he never removed for the entire 11 hour flight. Seriously. 🙄 I want to say ... dude you’re not taking a Greyhound Bus. Dress appropriately. 🧐
Although I been on their business class only once...my majority of their flights were on economy . Next one next month...and I must say it's hard to find faults with this airline. They are superb even in economy. I always enjoy their hospitality...thank you for a great video...although I am bias being a Singaporean and loving SQ ..eva is one of my favorites...

Great review as always David...the VIP service, although very good...is VERY expensive..almost a $1000 (Australian) which could probably buy you an economy ticket return on the entire flight !! Lovely take off vision and sound from Vienna !! No shortage of food on this flight !! I agree with your comment at the end of the video...great flight and a great review as always David !! Well done mate and here's to more great flights in 2020 !!
Thanks again for your videos!! while it is nice to look at business class - (setting up an envy chain of desire), the reality is the majority of us don't get to travel Business class so a more accurate measurement of EVA air flight experience would be economy class. (Still it is always nice to see how the wealthy travel) And may I recommend a quality system of rating. I know every flight can be different, but if you set a standard rating for those fixed things offered by all airlines such as quality of seat, seat pitch, friendliness of Staff/Flight Attendants, economy food, comfort. noise level. Variety of UEFI offerings, Cleanliness of cabin.. etc... would be good. As a foot note, EVA used to fly into NZAA, but stopped a number of years ago - but China Airlines still flies to Taipei via Brisbane from NZAA. Ironically, AIR New Zealand is still using one of EVA's 777 300's on lease to compensate for the downtime of their 787-900 RR fitted Dreamliners. (as of 1/2020)
BR is the cheapest 5-stars airline I think. I usually pick it on flights to HKG, SIN, BKK, and CRK if it is available. SQ, KE are way more expensive; CX, OZ are slightly more expensive.
12:41 put the traditional delicatessens into the congee if you don't want plain congee. Try it out next time if you see this set up. The menu probably didn't translate very well in describing how to eat those delicatessens. A better translation would be: congee garnishes.

A great video nice to see you partake in some alcohol it finishes it off nicely one of your reviewers never has anything but soft drinks which spoils the whole business class experience
777's Biz Class is superior than the 787, imho. The middle seat modules are more intimate for couples or business clients that travel duo. There's more individual space allotted, as the aircraft is set up for First Class flyers in front. The 787 is a step down as the cabin is a true Biz Class, with no First class. Obviously, this was a cost cutting measure. The 777 cabin has two sections, and I often have flown when the forward section was not sold out, so that the second section was empty. This worked out in my favour at times as my wife and I were the only passengers in there.... and we were served by a staff of four which was the normal complement for both sections.
I like flying Eva Air. Really good business class product. The reason why they provided you with the VIP Service Lounge is because the Star Alliance Lounges at Vienna Airport both for Business Class Passengers and Senator *Alliance Gold run by Austrian Airlines are nothing short of embarrassing particularly the food offerings. And that's their hub! Definitely not a good start for a trip.
I don't know when you visited Vienna for the last time, but in the past two years Austrian has significantly improved the food offering in their lounge. I have critized them in the past for the lack of hot meals and since around a year, hot meals are always provided in the lounge. Also, EVA Air uses Vienna Airport's own lounge, not the Austrian lounge.
@@simply_aviation So what did you find in terms of hot meals? A hot meal or two per se does not make for quality. Unfortunately, I have to use these lounges often enough. There is no significant difference to Vienna Airport's lounges, i.e. they are more or less the same.
@@classics39 I disagree. Vienna Airport's lounges don't offer a hot breakfast, but Austrian's lounges do. They provide scrambled eggs which I find are one of the best I have tried yet and all other dishes they offer during the day are made by Do&Co and are thus high-quality and taste good. I have not yet tried a meal in an Austrian lounge which I did not enjoy. But Vienna Airport's own lounges offer food with less quality, less selection of dishes and no hot breakfast which I very much dislike.
I've been flying with EVA in every cabin class and every equipment that was used between VIE and BKK over the last 10 years (A330, B777 and B787). EVA economy is at least as good as every ohters airline on this route. EVAs Premium Eco is just great, but has been a bit overpriced in the last years. And EVA business (Royal Laurel) is just a great product, that doen't need to hide from other airlines services. But since I've been able to fly one leg (BKK-DOH) in Qatars Q-Suite, I simply have to give the "best business class" to Qatar. If other airlines would adopt this konfiguration, there would be no more need for first class. Just my 2Cents.
