I really like how Austrian values the national dishes and presents continuously presents them onboard their aircraft instead of just serving the mainstream steak. Nice report!
WOW, what a great national airline. Great to see Austrian doing so well. Seems like many other national airlines are having a rough time at the moment, (BA, AI, Qantas, etc.) and other national carriers are becoming more noticed for their excellent service, and great food. Thanks for the ride, it was great.
I have had quite a few experiences like this such as KEF-JFK on Icelandair and EWR-DUB on Aer Lingus but I have also had the opposite on SQ from SIN-HYD which was such a huge disappointment.
@@CTravelsAviation If you are from Europe, and just want to experience a proper business class, your cheapest options are probably the Milan-Barcelona route with Singapore Airlines, or Air Europa 787 most common on Gran Canaria-Madrid
The seat looks really appealing, would be nice if they did like Singapore (singapore does FRA-JFK.) LHR-JFK with them would be good. Along with this, when you next try a British airline try Loganair.
They wouldn't them do them routes Austrian is Austrian Lufthansa and Singapore serve Frankfurt to Singapore which is in Germany. As for LHR to JFK one of the most competitive routes in the world well again no airline has Fifth freedom rights to serve that route they are all direct flights with American Airlines, British Airways, Delta Airlines, Jetblue and Virgin Atlantic BA has like 5 or 6 flights a day American 3 or 4, Virgin has 4 or 5, Delta has 2, JetBlue has 1 where would Austrian fit in they couldn't even do VIE - BHX - JFK as that would not make sense Air India or EK doing DXB - LHR - JFK or DEL - LHR - JFK Which I believe they used to do would make sense your connecting Delhi or Dubai the national country of that airline to London but also serving JFK which Indian passengers could go on. No one would fly Austrian when they offer Direct VIE - JFK flights. Delhi to New York and Dubai to New York are long flights so would offer a break and Dubai to London is a busy route
if you fly this the other direction you get to use the polaris lounge just gotta take the shuttle to T5. Austrian is definitely on my bucket list as well as visiting vienna.
Hello Simply aviation I was watching you for a long time and I love your videos about reviewing flights their very good!!! Keep putting on your efforts!!! 😀
When I was a preteen on my way home from visiting maternal relatives and friends, I was on a Lufthansa plane in a window seat. I spent quite a few minutes glancing at an Austrian Airlines jet at a neighboring gate. Interestingly enough, the same Austrian plane took off before the Lufthansa flight my family was on departed. I like to think that the passengers on the Austrian flight to Vienna over 15 years ago had the same positive experiences that Felix had.
Hello Felix. Another good trip report. Lucky guy being upgraded from a connecting flight in Premium Economy to a non-stop flight in Business Class. Loved the meals served. Hope they tasted as good as they looked (especially the Double Chocolate Cake). On a long-haul flight like this one (9+ hrs.), it is always a excellent idea to book a class where you have more space to move about (e.g. Premium Economy, Business Class, First Class) as long as you can afford the extra cost and the upgrade is worth it. Kudos to Austrian Airlines for such a good product on the route flown. Keep up the good work!
Great video! Thanks I think the food service reflects how much respect and care an airline has for its passengers over just profit making. Very pleasantly surprised by the wonderful Austrian presentation. Hope to fly on Austrian one day . How is there economy ? Anyone ?
Great vlog as usual, Simply Aviation! To complement the review, it is important to mention that the Austrian B777-200 is an outdated plane with an extremely noisy cabin and no WiFi at all. If you're flying long-haul for 9-12 hours, you can easily get tired even in business class. It's a big difference compared to more modern planes such as the A350. A great catering is not everything.
We don’t do this because it would be extremely complicated to come up with a way to compare so many different airlines and products, Business/Economy, LCC/Full Service Carrier, Long-Haul/Short-Haul, etc. We believe it’s impossible to break this down into a reliable, usable rating system, so we decided to only report on the experiences you can expect to have…
Intresting Business class, I would probably say the hard product isn’t that competitive, but the service is austrian quality! I had a deal with austrian found on sky scanner (provider Austrian) a return trip for two in business class from Vienna to Tokyo for 2300 euros, But at the end I rather opted for Cathay Pacific form FRA-KUL via HGK!
Austrian is actually pretty good in long haul C...I agree with the hard product although I always slept very well. The service usually is top notch and I am looking forward to my next Austrian long haul flight in Sep later this year
Can we all expect Air France's La Premiere first class flight's review someday from you guys? There are other reviews available on UA-cam, but none beats your level, specifically Brutally Honest segment. 😊
Unfortunately for me I tried Austrian's premium economy which I found to be the worst I ever flew on. I went on EVA's 787 economy class out of Vienna later which turned out to be better!
It was just announced that we're finally getting new aircraft. 10x 787-9 it is. Yes the planes are old so it's REALLY needed. Still better than Americans 777-300ER in economy That flight from lax to lhr was a nightmare..
I sincerely hope that the Lufthansa Group will be able to offer Austrian a more modern long-haul fleet. The 767 that they use for YUL is so outdated for business
You do realise BA or other Airlines have A320's or 777's the same age as that 777-200ER that did this flight it is 26 years old which means in 4 years it would be 30. BA has 777's that are a year younger many Airlines have planes the same age
The only letdown of flying Austrian Business Class are the lack of wifi and the seats, which feels a little bit outdated. Other than that I cannot praise the food, the crew, Vienna Airport and everything in between.
I flew Chicago to Vienna 3 days ago and I think that the LH group has really balanced their own offerings. LH x LX x OS is like comparing VW Golf to Seat Leon to Skoda Octavia lol
The twisty turny map at beginning of all your videos is very disorientating. Would of like to see you cut the chicken to see how tender it was. Fried food on a jet is always an adventure
At the beginning of the pandemic, the chefs were removed from Austrian Airlines flights and they are returning now as summer 2023 is the first full summer schedule since the beginning of the pandemic.
Perhaps the best upgrade anyone has ever had in the history of flying. And those triangle plates and bowl look quite good and unique.
Indeed
Very true !
I really like how Austrian values the national dishes and presents continuously presents them onboard their aircraft instead of just serving the mainstream steak. Nice report!
Most of it was Italian-inspired food lol...
Thank you for filming the full takeoff, as when you fly in a higher class you don’t just get first class service, you get first class engine noise!
WOW, what a great national airline. Great to see Austrian doing so well. Looks like an amazing flight ! Nice upgrade and great food & drinks by DO&CO as always on OS, love those beautiful throne "mini-suite" seats...
Nothing beats when you are expecting a flight to be good & just turns out to be Sooo much better due to the upgrade👌🏻

It is very rare to see Felix vlog a flight in or out of his home airport
Amazing trip report Felix, catering wise, I’d say Austrian is the best of the Lufthansa Group!😸
I really want to fly premium economy class or business class someday, but it's too expensive for my parents to afford. Nice video, though!
How old are you? You can take a trip during your winter break if you get a summer job and save up.

Good for you, Austria is going to to replace the 777 whit the 787. So you soon would find modern on Austrian 👍
