Idk who adapted this classic creepypasta, but they somehow managed to crop out 90% of the story and consequently all the scary parts. The actual story includes tons of spleunking and what ACTUALLY happened to scare Ted and his friends. Please read Ted the Caver, it's WAY more than this and is a true classic!
@@caruusel A lot more! It's from 2005 so it's definitely a different format from a modern creepypasta, ya gotta buckle in for a slow burn lol. However it's widely considered the very first creepypasta, so it's worth reading because it's a classic!
spent most of this episode feeling like Shane. i was thinking “wow, this story is a whole lot of nothing happening...” now reading the comments, i see that they skipped most of the story, makes sense now 😅
They skipped the best, scariest parts of the story. This is basically the falling action part. I get they can’t read the whole thing but I still don’t understand why they’d choose to tell the story this way.
Kinda wish they did the full Ted the caver story cause like someone else said there is a full beginning of the cave, the actual exploration, and then this ending piece. It becomes much more foreboding and eerie with the full context, even if its about 2 hours long. Would be a good Halloween special
Right? This isn't a good representation of how scary this story is, because it's just the finale. The really creepy stuff happens in the penultimate post.
Ted the caver was the first creepypasta i ever read growing up and i became convinced i was gonna get killed by the cave monster despite living in ireland nowhere near caves i was that scared
I can’t believe they finally did ted the caver, and didn’t actually cover any of the cave content 😭 This story is an absolute classic, do yourselves a favour and read the whole thing!!
They've done such classic creepypastas like Smile Dog and the Russian Sleep Experiment, I was half joking to myself about them doing Ted the Caver, as it's pretty much the oldest creepypasta on the internet And then BAM! This shit is a classic
Crazy! I watch and listen to so many creepy pastas and literally missed this one! 😂 I have no idea how but no better way to hear it for the first time then with the Ghoul Boys!
I was not expected to see Ted the Caver here. I’m sure it’s as old as me (and I’m 25). Definitely a classic internet horror story and probably one of the first creepypastas.
To anyone wanting to hear the full story: The UA-camr is: The Dark Somnium The video is: Ted the Caver It’s about 2 hours long and an incredible story. Keeps you hanging on every word
When it came down to it, B decided not to go back into the cave. His face was drawn and pale as he backed away to stand in the sunlight outside. He tried to look happy. "You two go on without me," he said with a nervous laugh. "I'd probably just lose your rope, too." Joe and I nodded at each other and began our journey inside. Even with the lights we'd brought, the darkness swallowed us like ink. It was as if the evil around us was so complete and so hungry that it even devoured light. As we approached the end of the passageway, Joe tripped on some loose rock and fell against me. Figuring it might be my last chance, I gave him a quick but hard kiss on the mouth. He looked at me briefly and nodded, but said nothing. "Did you hurt yourself?" I asked. "My ankle," he groaned. "It's sprained pretty badly... you gotta go on without me." I nodded and gave his hand a quick squeeze. Perhaps there would be time to talk later. I hoped. My last light flickered out. I reached for my lighter and sparked it into light. I could feel insects flying around me, trying to get to my meager light source.Ridiculously, I told myself maybe what lay ahead was nothing to fear. The bugs didn't seem afraid, after all... But then I heard the whispering. The vaguely human whispering echoing all around me. Multiple shadowy figures rushed around me, so quickly that they blew out my lighter without my ever truly seeing them. "Who...what are you?" I asked in the blackness. "Please just set me free!" Voices laughed at me, then spoke together as one horrifying chorus: "We've been trying to reach you about your car's extended warranty..."
Most unrealistic part of the story is him going to a doctor, telling him "i dunno I just have anxiety i guess??" and then walking out with a prescription that works perfectly and actually helps- first try. Maybe just me having some grievances with my own medications
no no that’s definitely not normal to get the right prescription that helps first try. the whole deal with meds is finding the right ones that work for you. my doctors and I didn’t know I was going to have side effects to zoloft and morphine but here we are
It’s like 90% trial and error with mental health meds. Hard to find what actually works. The other 10% is them listening to symptoms and making bad suggestions lol
So sad you guys got the experience of this story ruined. It's such a great piece of internet narration history. Hopefully you get time to read it fully someday. Edit: Also, double disappointed because I would've loved to see your super talented illustrator tackle the most intense parts of the story!
I get that there’s a full version but I simply don’t have the time to listen to a 2hr story. Even the are you scared episodes are too long sometimes. But from the sounds of it, they should’ve chose a different story to tell or told the whole thing.
It's especially annoying because both Shane and Ryan keep saying "When is he gonna go to the cave?" when the entire first two thirds of the story are all about the cave. It's also indescribably infuriating how they never mention the fact that this is only the very end of the story, and even complain about how short and lacking in substance it is when they skipped 90% of the narrative. Considering that they asked for more of it at the end I'm guessing that somebody only sent them this part or something, but it's just a shame they couldn't at least summarize the entire story.
@@CrazyBanana510 I dont blame them for the mix up bc their job is to go in blind and react to it. There must've been a mix up or lack of fact checking behind the scenes, idk how they got this story I know people can send stories which has a word count limit or maybe they got with a quick google search and this was the first thing they came across. Idk you cant really do anything about it now but its really such a shame for the ghouligans and others who know or dont know the story.
Guys its not ryan and shane who pick the stories. Watch the first episode to know. Their crew looks it up or people send it to the others who then give it to ryan and shane. Please don't hate just because you all know doesn't mean they did.
Update: I have returned from the cave, it was just a cave, after retrieving the camera and rewinding the footage we realized that what we all saw that day was just a bat flapping its wings in the dark, sorry for making you all worry it's just that at first I was too embarrassed to admit it, also I'm eloping with that one guy from the hill who's name I forgot
This is part of a very long story, btw. There's a 2 hour version of this floating around on YT. Definitely worth the listen, as it helps build up the tension. A bit more context: Ted the Caver is said to be the first creepypasta. The story was split up in several blog posts that included pictures and the like, and slowly build up to what you are reading right now. I'd consider this a massive spoiler, and if people haven't read or listened to the full story they'd do well to go and do that first. I don't know who picked this story for you guys, but they dropped the ball a bit with starting at the end of a 2 hour long tale. That's like watching the last 15 minutes of a scary movie and then wondering why it doesn't work.
shane's "get in the cave!" jokes got me through this one. this story kinda sucks without the context of what happened to them in the cave to make them so scared that comes in earlier parts of the story. least scary episode of are you scared, unfortunately
whoever sent them this version of the story messed up as this is the last third of the Ted Caver story it skipped the part about find the cave and what happened in it this just was just the last post and the falling action of the story i highly recommend the rest of it because despite it being long it's genuinely one of the scariest internet stories id ever read
Thank u to the comments for helping to alleviate my confusion lol I figured something was missing but the fact that it's basically the whole story makes me sad :')
I thought I had somehow skipped through the video accidentally, then I realized it wasn't the full story. Even if the boys don't do it for the show they should give it a full read. It's an absolute certified classic.
Man the full story of Ted the Caver is fantastic, and features PLENTY of cave time to give context for why he doesn't want to go in the cave. unfortunately I think it'd make for about a four hour long episode 👻
has anyone here ACTUALLY visited Ted's website? not just the creepypasta entry?? the thing has MULTIPLE pages plus PICTURES!! i love how extensive this writer went.. lol tolkien levels, man!
It's because it's actually based on a real story, the cave is real, the people are real, the fact that they opened up that passage is all real. That's why in the original there are pictures included too.
@@lilybird6868 Well not all of the cave is real, the large room with the round rock and hieroglyphs in the story were impossible to stage which is why there aren't any photos of it. Ted says he couldn't develop the photos but we all know that's just codeword for "use your imagination just for this one part please". But yeah, the cave is real, and the authors of the story really dig through a section of it. It's called Interstate Cave which is part of the Timpanogos Cave network in Utah. As the name suggests, it goes right under an interstate highway which causes a constant rumbling in the cave. Ted then used this rumbling as inspiration for the supernatural parts of the story.
I NEED a narration of the full thing! The scariest parts for me reading it as a kid were in the beginning, the suspense, the build-up, it was all much scarier with the full context!
This one has really stuck with me. When I get bored I think of it and put Ted in all new death cave scenarios. Also I feel like Ted is that person that says stuff like “I thought I’d update on the website so everyone could know what was going on” but he only has 4 followers. Nobody is asking Ted anything 💀
I want a series where Shane and Ryan roast old school creepy pastas. Like, “This Jeff guy is a real loser!” “Can you believe they named this monster after a stupid rake???”
Actually "caving" is the professional version where ropes might be used, while "spelunking" is the amateur version (that usually ends up more dangerous). Remember to never go into a cave without a partner and at least 3 light sources that use 2 different fuels (so like if you have a flashlight and a headlamp which uses batteries, take a backup glowstick or something that doesnt need those batteries).
this is one of the original scary stories to go viral on youtube, i wish you guys read it from the beginning though. i realize that would take hours but its worth it. if you haven’t heard the story in its entirety i highly recommend it!
The actual Ted's Caving blog is this really long slowburn story that I don't think presents well just reading the last chapter and nothing else. This story might have just been too long to do an are you scare of.
@@Jukajobs they don't find the stories themselves so Ryan and Shane probably don't know what they missed. They likely know it's not the full story but not the extent to which they skipped. The stories are either recommended/sent in by viewers or are found by their team, so that their reactions are organic when they read it for the video
This is actually the last part of a series that was presented as blog posts. It would be way too long for an episode, but the rest of it is pretty good. This was coming in at the denouement of IT and wondering why everyone is so scared of that funny-looking clown.
The full story has a lot more spookiness to it I feel - the actual cave content and the bit where they cut the rope is chilling. But I understand it’s a bit long for a video like this. Shane’s frustration with Ted is too funny lol.
I just listened to it in full (the 2 hours) and all I can say is, wow. It left me feeling scared and it was truly atmospheric. Seriously good. Hopefully one day Ryan and Shane could react to it in full.
The story really doesn't land as much with two thirds of it missing. It's one of my favorite creepypastas and it's a shame that you only looked at the ending basically? It's a long creepypasta but idk it kinda doesn't work like this. Especially since Ryan and Shane are full-on complaining about Ted not going into the cave, when in the full story, most of the time is spend in that cave :, )
I think they're just as confused as we are. I'm sure this'll get sorted, like an extra episode to make up for it or maybe just, an apology and a disclaimer in the comments
It's not their fault, clearly someone ripped the story and submitted it anonymously trying to pass it off as their own work, otherwise they would have credited it properly
Ted the Caver is pretty long and impossible to cover in its entirety in < 30 min- especially considering commentary. Shane and Ryan are always super funny but the story itself was not done justice so if you’re interested I’d super recommend checking out the full story (all my favorite bits happen earlier in the story).
I gotta say I think this is my favorite are you scared. I am well aware that the majority of the story isn’t here, but they were extremely funny throughout it.
wish they could do this one over, next time from the beginning of the entrees and not the last one lol. its one of my fave stories, it was written by a guy named ted who documented his actual explorations of an unkown cave, and threw in a lil horror twist for flavor. theres lots of good stuff in there.
huh?? whoever chose this really messed up because you only read the end of the story and left out all the scary shit at the beginning... man i was so excited when i saw the title of this video because i guessed it would be ted's caving page which i read when i was a teen, maybe 9, 10 years ago? but as soon as u guys started reading i was so confused, because even though its been so long since i read it i definitely remember reading this story for a good two hours and it starts with the three of them exploring the cave, then coming back and feeling all messed up about it and deciding to go back. The part you chose to read was the dullest part and it sounds even more boring when there's absolutely no context, this was so disappointing. This would have been so much better as a stream or something which would give the opportunity to read the full story, its a shame that this video will probably be a lot of people's first introduction to this story bc its completely ruined the atmosphere and experience, like when i read it for the first time i was terrified.
yeah same. i was listening to it like "is this actually Ted the Caver?? I don't even remember this part of the story". i can understand wanting to abridge it, it's a pretty long story, but this was not the way to do it
Yes, but tbh, it didn't ruin it for me, being my first time seeing the story. It was basically like reading the last words of a book, a shame that you didn't get it how it was intended, but it didn't take away from th entire rest of the book
nothing funnier to me than them reading this story for the show and having no idea that like 90% of it got cut and becoming increasingly irritated with the lack of actual caving
You two are the reason I’m still sane after getting my heart monitor and a very short timer on my life and you make me want to fight to keep going so thank you and I love you guys so much and all of the watcher crew
i checked the comments before ryan began narrating, went to read the full creepypasta and am now back, y’all are right!!! the full story is INSANE this part really does not do it justice. actually i was disappointed by this final bit, the act before this was soooo much more terrifying! this one was really worth reading it through a two-part halloween special or smth… anyway i’m all for longer episodes with longer stories like these you guys don’t shy away from it!!! (even if has less artwork hehe)
There’s some quality scares in the full version of the story. I’d recommend it to any of the people reading this comment. It’s a slow burn, but worth it. The tension is amazing.
You guys watching this won’t even know what happened to Joe. And what about the cave hieroglyphics? The caving trip before these guys pick up on it was terrifying. With the scraping behind him, and the rock sitting on the phone cord.
@@prestonb.f. Guess i'm gonna reread the entire thing lol. Tbh they should probably read from r/shortscarystories so the entire story can fit in one video and not really downplay the great long-form authors of stories like this
Omg. I read this story years and years ago as a teenager and loved it, and have been looking for it again with no luck. And here I watch this video and it’s the same story!!!
genuinely thought the ad would end in yall saying you were dropping a series with the team working through the mystery, would kill to see that honestly!!
You can just tell how wonderfully put together this content is. It’s magnificent. This series deserves a lot more attention. I love just relaxing and watching this, maybe a cup of hot coco or something.
@@Huzaifarehman252 They read the last entry, so this is the ending. It frustrated me, actually, because Shane kept saying "don't talk about the cave, just go", and literally the entire rest of the story takes place inside the cave -_- It's fine tho, I mean, I'm just glad more people are going to read this story, because it's one of my all time faves. I promise reading the story is worth it - I knew how it ended when I read it for the first time, and it's still amazing. The feeling of dread and unease is amazing.
Ryan **casually doing intro** : “A show where I tell my friend Shane Madej the internet’s scariest stories” Shane’s face every intro this season : I am the scariest story
This being spooky season you should have done the entire creepypasta. It's long, but it would have been epic and well within your capabilities. Still well done. Thank you, Boys.
You asked for an ending: As Ted and his spelunky pals make their crossing of the tomb, several different times they feel small pebbles that seem to squish beneath their feet. Eventually, Ted reaches down to see if he can find one of the small pebbles. He locates one. Turning on his flashlight, he sees that the pebble is an unatural color of red for a rock. It is very light in weight. Struck, with inspiration Ted puts the pebble in his mouth. It tastes of cherry. It's jelly like innards slide down his throat. Ted realizes he has not heard or seen his pals in a few minutes. At that point he sees a small blue furry blur in the corner of his vision. He thinks that he is simply still hallucinating. As the strap from a small satchel is tightened around his neck he knows that he was mistaken. Slipping into unconsciousness, he hears labored breathing and a voice choking out the words "We have a couple of c-dawgs today." His last earthly thoughts center around two main points. One, I should have just stayed home and took the drugs and the other one is an intensely strong love for time travel and teaching history.
i wish they had done a mini series or something reading the whole thing because this last piece probably will make no sense to anyone who hasn't read ted the caver before. it would also be very entertaining to see shane rip to shreds the long sequences where nothing happens and the guy just digs painfully slowly for multiple days
9:25 Fun fact: hodag sounds like a word in my native language (chodak) that basically means an old type of shoe. Imagine encountering a weird ass creature in a cave, running out of there and going "That thing sure did look a lot like a shoe"
I saw the title and thought "Is it Ted the Caver this time?" Then I saw the duration and thought "It's WAY to short to be that." Then it ends up being Ted the Caver, but just the ending section which doesn't include any of the actual scary parts or the discovery of Floyd's Tomb, which got me into looking into one of the most famous caving deaths which I highly recommend looking into. Even knowing how it ends, it really has you rooting for Floyd Collins to be rescued. Please, if you can, read the whole thing of Ted the Caver.
thanks to the comment section, i managed to pause the story just right (where he gets prescription meds) and looked for the full story. after reading up until the entry before may 19, i played where i left off. everyone is right, the build up and the photos are great.
Updated post by Ted: "Hey guys, went to the cave. It was actually pretty sick. Found the camera, which captured some dope footage of bats. After being outside for a bit I started to feel less paranoid. Turns out there was a carbon monoxide leak in my apartment. Don't know what was up with Joe, but he's always just kinda been like that. Oh, and the creature we saw just ended up being Spiders Georg, who lives in the cave and eats over 10,000 spiders each day. Nice guy, but hard to talk to on account of all the spiders in his mouth."
30 mins later, we reached the cave.Just the presence of the cave itself and what might be taking refuge inside shook us to the core. B tried to sound cheerful but we could see right through. " ill just wait for you guys" B said. we nodded and ventured to the insides of the cave. Each step me and joe made echoed off the moist walls of the cave. a sort of tip tap tip tap that was constant, almost never ending... almost.we feared that every step we took would mean us closer to our demise. Both were envious of B but at the same time we felt a sensation of relief as we continued down. the lights flickered. my heart stopped until i realized that i packed spares. a sense of relief overtook my cold shaken body calming it down like a mother to its weeping children , i opened my bag to the realization that yes i had packed spares, but without batteries. my heart skipped a beat i looked at joe, he slowly swayed his head from right to left, left to right. When the pray is most helpless the predator attacks , and so it did. We heard a blood curdling screech from the ends of the cave . He, no rather it was coming and fast. Me and joe's eyes met, we knew our fate . it was pitch black so we didn't know when it was going to attack, the feeling of suspense was overwhelming. im scrambling to write this down as whatever that creature is is making its way towards us. i fled further up the cave while joe stood still in his tracks like a deer staring at the headlights of the car. i kept running and running until i heard joe's screams. i stopped dead in my tracks, it sounds like his face and body is being ripped apart ,it pierced so far through it was scratching the hard stone rock underneath. im going to throw this journal as far as i can up the cave i need someone to find this because , i am next.
i know the whole ted the caver story is too long for this kind of video but I wish we got the whole thing because the beginning really builds the suspense so well
also the fun part of the story is that it never is blatantly supernatural! it doesn't go to far and it built up over months and left an air of plausibility to it because it never showed a big spooky monster, it just ends! check out the full thing if you haven't its really good :)
Love that they did this story, it's one of my favorites! If anyone's curious about the truth behind it, there's a statement somewhere from the original author saying that he actually did explore the cave (I believe it's called the Freeway Cave) and created the new passage, but made up the supernatural elements when he posted the story. The cave is apparently open to the public now!
I read this story for the first time a couple weeks ago. I know it’s longer but it would have been nice to hear the whole story. But great work as usual, love hearing the spooky shit from our favorite Ghoul Boys!
I remember reading this story something like 10 years ago, and there's actually a lot more to the story involving them entering the cave for the first time before this part of the story and it's significantly more terrifying with all the build up. It kept me up for days and inspired a life long phobia of being underground/in caves
This is such a classic. I’m kind of sad they only read the last part of the story but I understand it’s extremely long. If you want the cave action I would highly recommend reading the entire story
After seeing all the comments about the full story, I had to hear it. The video I found told the story in a little over 2 hours, but it SO worth it. Gotta say, I'd also like a re-do. Maybe even compress it into key parts from each story?
Everyone is saying they wanted the full story, and I don't like sounding like a broken record, but... MAN. The full story is so much more bone-chilling!
So like everyone else. You guys read the last 20 minutes of a 2 hour long amazing story. And honestly i think you guys should revisit it and Ryan should read the entire story. I think Shane would appreciate the story and the fans would definitely love it. Its a great creepy pasta and both of you would enjoy it more if you read the entire thing.
I remember reading this story a few years back and loving it. It's MUCH longer than this, and jusy reading the final entry doesn't do it justice. I'd love to see this revisited in it's entirety.
Mr Ballen has deeply instilled a (I think sensible) fear of caves/caving in me. So yeah…caves got me scared. Really laughed at this episode a lot regardless of being creeped out! Can’t wait to see more of what you guys put out on Watcher when you are free from Buzzfeed!
If i ever had any doubts, those videos have convinced me that no one should ever go caving or diving. Fun fact: i had a friend whose whole family were really into caving. When we were in high school her dad had an accident and fell over 40 feet. He survived but was in a full body cast for over a year and a wheelchair for a few years after that. As soon as he was well enough he went right back to caving.
I think the first half of this story is so much scarier tbh look up the full story if you want to actually lose a little sleep. The description of his experience of what happened in the cave is truly horrific and SO immersive with photos and realistic timeline of events. It's so suspenseful and scary. 10/10 classic creepypasta masterpiece.
Man, the full story is so good. It's really unfortunate they only read the end. I get it there isn't enought time, but I feel like it isn't nearly as good this way.
Reminds me of that one guy who was a normal caver & went in with his friends to widen a hole so they could get through but when he posted about it online he made it all supernatural.
This isn't the full story, though? This is just the final post by 'Ted.' There's a whole blog of lead up where he does, in fact, spend a lot of time in a very spooky cave 😂
This one was fantastic! I like that all of his symptoms were symptoms of other realistic mental/physical issues, it made him seem more real because he was dealing with vision issues (flashes and shadows? vision issues, maybe from straining his eyes in a dark cave?), anxiety, and depression, which were causing him to have insomnia, possible sleep paralysis, hallucinations (due to lack of sleep?), paranoia (anxiety), social withdrawal (depression), and weight loss (anxiety or depression). I need to go read the full story people are talking about in the comments, I hope you'll have an episode for the full thing :)

Dark Somnium is OP. You will not regret watching
When it came down to it, B decided not to go back into the cave. His face was drawn and pale as he backed away to stand in the sunlight outside. He tried to look happy. "You two go on without me," he said with a nervous laugh. "I'd probably just lose your rope, too."
Joe and I nodded at each other and began our journey inside.
"It's sprained pretty badly... you gotta go on without me."
I nodded and gave his hand a quick squeeze.
"Please just set me free!"
Voices laughed at me, then spoke together as one horrifying chorus:
"We've been trying to reach you about your car's extended warranty..."
I feel like I just got rick rolled. 10/10
This is the ending that this story truly needed 😂😂😂 BRAVO 👏 👏 👏
That was the perfect ending. Well done!

Most unrealistic part of the story is him going to a doctor, telling him "i dunno I just have anxiety i guess??" and then walking out with a prescription that works perfectly and actually helps- first try.
Maybe just me having some grievances with my own medications
no no that’s definitely not normal to get the right prescription that helps first try. the whole deal with meds is finding the right ones that work for you. my doctors and I didn’t know I was going to have side effects to zoloft and morphine but here we are
Also getting an appointment that quick! Being able to just walk in, say you're anxious, and get a prescription THAT fast XD Wild!
I feel the same too man ! Just gimme those drugs already !
Nah the unrealistic part is walking in with as many flesh wounds has he would have had, and the Doctors accepting “Just stress!”
It’s like 90% trial and error with mental health meds. Hard to find what actually works. The other 10% is them listening to symptoms and making bad suggestions lol
Don't be shy, drop the full video of Ryan playing hunt a killer
Can you imagine the amount of wheezing?
And Shane using his detective brain

So sad you guys got the experience of this story ruined. It's such a great piece of internet narration history. Hopefully you get time to read it fully someday.
Edit: Also, double disappointed because I would've loved to see your super talented illustrator tackle the most intense parts of the story!
I get that there’s a full version but I simply don’t have the time to listen to a 2hr story. Even the are you scared episodes are too long sometimes. But from the sounds of it, they should’ve chose a different story to tell or told the whole thing.
"I want to see what all the fuss is about"
*skipped directly to the third act with none of the mystery and buildup*
It's especially annoying because both Shane and Ryan keep saying "When is he gonna go to the cave?" when the entire first two thirds of the story are all about the cave. It's also indescribably infuriating how they never mention the fact that this is only the very end of the story, and even complain about how short and lacking in substance it is when they skipped 90% of the narrative. Considering that they asked for more of it at the end I'm guessing that somebody only sent them this part or something, but it's just a shame they couldn't at least summarize the entire story.
@@CrazyBanana510 right its so damn frustrating :/
@@CrazyBanana510 Yeah they clearly didn't know that this was only part of the story -I actually feel bad for them rather than annoyed at them haha

Yesss
This makes sense! I was wondering why it felt like I was missing something! Thanks for the tip
yes!!! i was like uhh this definitely isn't the whole thing, because the whole story actually gets spooky lol
I kinda feel sad that I watched this whole video before I found this out :(
This explains so much! I have read the story before and without that context this story was plain boring. Living for Shanes reaction tho
shane's "get in the cave!" jokes got me through this one. this story kinda sucks without the context of what happened to them in the cave to make them so scared that comes in earlier parts of the story. least scary episode of are you scared, unfortunately
whoever sent them this version of the story messed up as this is the last third of the Ted Caver story
it skipped the part about find the cave and what happened in it this just was just the last post and the falling action of the story
i highly recommend the rest of it because despite it being long it's genuinely one of the scariest internet stories id ever read
ryan: that dirty hole of yours
shane: do you speak of my mouth???!

Sounds like a great reason for a multi-part series 🙂
And I’d still watch every bit of it tbh
You mean fortunately*
has anyone here ACTUALLY visited Ted's website? not just the creepypasta entry?? the thing has MULTIPLE pages plus PICTURES!! i love how extensive this writer went.. lol tolkien levels, man!
That was one of the first creepypastas I ever read, and definitely the best.
Dark Somnium covers it well, 2hrs plus the pictures. Really helps it all hit home, if someone doesn't feel up for reading all of it.
I’m so happy the site is still up. Reading it in the way it was meant to be makes it scarier.
Straight up I’d kill for a video of Shane and Ryan trying to figure out a hunt a killer box, feels like it’d be chaotic as hell
I NEED a narration of the full thing! The scariest parts for me reading it as a kid were in the beginning, the suspense, the build-up, it was all much scarier with the full context!
I'm sad they didn't do the rest of the story, this is like the last sixth of the story. The story proper has so much cave time.
and photos! dont forget the photos! lol
I don't want cave time though.... or photos!
XD
This one has really stuck with me. When I get bored I think of it and put Ted in all new death cave scenarios. Also I feel like Ted is that person that says stuff like “I thought I’d update on the website so everyone could know what was going on” but he only has 4 followers. Nobody is asking Ted anything 💀
I want a series where Shane and Ryan roast old school creepy pastas. Like,
“This Jeff guy is a real loser!”
“Can you believe they named this monster after a stupid rake???”
God knows he'll have a field day with sonic . Exe and tails doll
Oh my God yes
Yes!!! that sounds amazing @watcher
i remember all of those rake videos. Good times
noun: rake; plural noun: rakes

Actually "caving" is the professional version where ropes might be used, while "spelunking" is the amateur version (that usually ends up more dangerous). Remember to never go into a cave without a partner and at least 3 light sources that use 2 different fuels (so like if you have a flashlight and a headlamp which uses batteries, take a backup glowstick or something that doesnt need those batteries).
me, in my teens, avoiding a creepypasta phase…only to have ryan and shane show up with a gun in my twenties and force it on me 💀
You can never escape!

My creepypasta phase didn't even happen until I was 29

this is one of the original scary stories to go viral on youtube, i wish you guys read it from the beginning though. i realize that would take hours but its worth it. if you haven’t heard the story in its entirety i highly recommend it!
The actual Ted's Caving blog is this really long slowburn story that I don't think presents well just reading the last chapter and nothing else. This story might have just been too long to do an are you scare of.
They basically just read the epilogue
Yeah give us a huge multi part one or maybe give us another episode
yeah, somehow it seems they're not aware that they missed most of the story
kinda reminds me of NoEnd House (prt 1).. i've been wanting to submit that for the past couple of seasons.
Ryan narration makes the story 100 times scary. Just outstanding.

The full story has a lot more spookiness to it I feel - the actual cave content and the bit where they cut the rope is chilling. But I understand it’s a bit long for a video like this. Shane’s frustration with Ted is too funny lol.
"GET IN THE FUCKING CAVE TEDDY" classic Shane.
I just listened to it in full (the 2 hours) and all I can say is, wow. It left me feeling scared and it was truly atmospheric. Seriously good. Hopefully one day Ryan and Shane could react to it in full.
Shane looks like a ready-to-retire, small town cop

He looks like the older brother of the Town sheriff who likes to fish
I was honestly so confused when the title appeared; like how is Ted the Caver, a 2-hour long story, going to be told in less than 20 minutes? o_o
The story really doesn't land as much with two thirds of it missing. It's one of my favorite creepypastas and it's a shame that you only looked at the ending basically?
It's a long creepypasta but idk it kinda doesn't work like this.
Especially since Ryan and Shane are full-on complaining about Ted not going into the cave, when in the full story, most of the time is spend in that cave :, )
right? -_-
Agreed! We need the whole story for real context
I think they're just as confused as we are. I'm sure this'll get sorted, like an extra episode to make up for it or maybe just, an apology and a disclaimer in the comments
No I don’t think they will, it’s nothing to them if the story is incomplete, and they may not even know it is.
It's not their fault, clearly someone ripped the story and submitted it anonymously trying to pass it off as their own work, otherwise they would have credited it properly
I love how Ryan says "his friend Shane" and Shane has a smile when he looks at Ryan. I want a friendship like that one day 😹❤
Ted the Caver is pretty long and impossible to cover in its entirety in < 30 min- especially considering commentary.
"TED GET IN THE FUCKING CAVE" has the same energy as "SHINJI GET IN THE ROBOT"
wish they could do this one over, next time from the beginning of the entrees and not the last one lol. its one of my fave stories, it was written by a guy named ted who documented his actual explorations of an unkown cave, and threw in a lil horror twist for flavor. theres lots of good stuff in there.
huh?? whoever chose this really messed up because you only read the end of the story and left out all the scary shit at the beginning... man i was so excited when i saw the title of this video because i guessed it would be ted's caving page which i read when i was a teen, maybe 9, 10 years ago? but as soon as u guys started reading i was so confused, because even though its been so long since i read it i definitely remember reading this story for a good two hours and it starts with the three of them exploring the cave, then coming back and feeling all messed up about it and deciding to go back.
This. I feel exactly the same.
yeah same. i was listening to it like "is this actually Ted the Caver?? I don't even remember this part of the story". i can understand wanting to abridge it, it's a pretty long story, but this was not the way to do it
Exactly😊
Yes, but tbh, it didn't ruin it for me, being my first time seeing the story. It was basically like reading the last words of a book, a shame that you didn't get it how it was intended, but it didn't take away from th entire rest of the book
Sounds like the anymous submitter tried to make Ted the Cavers story his own by omitting a lot of the blog story in hopes no one would catch on.
nothing funnier to me than them reading this story for the show and having no idea that like 90% of it got cut and becoming increasingly irritated with the lack of actual caving

You asked for an ending:
As Ted and his spelunky pals make their crossing of the tomb, several different times they feel small pebbles that seem to squish beneath their feet.
Ryan: “…help solve a murder- something I don’t know anything about.” He just had to add that disclaimer.
9:25 Fun fact: hodag sounds like a word in my native language (chodak) that basically means an old type of shoe. Imagine encountering a weird ass creature in a cave, running out of there and going "That thing sure did look a lot like a shoe"
“Of how to catch a murder. Something I know nothing about.” I understood that reference and I’m not ashamed of being proud of it.
I love that they had to add the creature at the end of the illustration because there was NOTHING else to this lol

It kept me up for days and inspired a life long phobia of being underground/in caves
im really starting to adore this series
im glad everyone agrees they should read the whole story, i would love to hear 2 hours of ryan and shane cave commentary
Imagine how long it could be including their commentary. Like 3 hours lol
Man Ryan make me want to revisit the full version of the story his narration is so good
Everyone is saying they wanted the full story, and I don't like sounding like a broken record, but... MAN. The full story is so much more bone-chilling!
I could feel how irritated Shane was going to be as soon as Ryan read the end of the story lmao
I would FULLY watch a video of Ryan and Shane figure out a Hunt A Killer mystery. Just sayin.
Man- the full Ted the Caver is so good. This small bit doesn’t do it justice. It would be cool for Ryan to narrate the whole thing for Patreon maybe.
Ryan: where i tell my friend the scariest stories.
