Crazily enough, my dad had a persistent cough for around six months. Dry and choke-like, and after enough time he gave into my mom telling him to visit the doctor. Turns out he actually had contracted tuberculosis from a co-worker that had been doing international travel and it had been just sort of chilling in his lungs or whatever.
Thankfully, it was dormant, but I remember my brother also had to be tested just in case, as men are more likely to contract it. A few months of medicine later and he was fine, but he still has a chronic cough, although not near as bad. Wild shit man.
Yeah it’s definitely still a thing, it’s just not fatal anymore if you have antibiotics
Was he not vaccinated against it?? That's crazy if he wasn't
this feels like a modern fable meant to warn future generations of the danger of coughing directly into the air
Right? It totally does feel like a modern fairy tale you would tell your kids before bed.
"And that's why you always wear a mask and cough into your ELBOW, not your hands."
Though in a mid-COVID world, all of this feels wildly unlikely. The parts about being out in public, anyway.
"Are You Scared" is the closest thing we will get to see to "Buzzfeed Unsolved" on Watcher and
"Puppet History" is the closest thing we will get to see to "Ruining History" on Watcher
I need both shows to come back. Specially Unsolved
"Puppet History" is a more fleshed-out "Ruining History". I think it is a lot better than the original concept.
I also enjoy "Are You Scared" but I would like to see a version of "Unsolved " take place (Buzzfeed probably owns the rights to the show).
This is still a young company so who knows what direction it will take?
Not even close to Unsolved, weird comment.
@@UncannySwan They sit and Ryan narrates a story to Shane, who listens and also try to come up with theories of what might happen next, except the story might be fictional and and they don't go visit places, I'd say it comes close but Unsolved is better because they have weird chaotic energy on that, also I miss them hanging out in haunted places
Agreed! I much prefer the earlier versions of Unsolved and Are You Scared (back when it was actually scary/ creepy). Now, the jokes every 10 seconds take away any kind of suspense. Maybe it’s just me.
I have a story scarier than this one: I once coughed to hard that I threw up on myself...at work.
And you still work there?
I’m a teacher’s aide and I threw up on yard duty in front of all the kids 🙈
Two years after that incident but not anymore lol!
It was almost in front of the kids! They had just gone outside for recess! Whew!
Honestly the worst feeling, I’m so sorry you went through that 😭 Glad you’re okay now!

Lol same. Plus the "antibiotic only works for a specific pathogen" and "pathogen will exclusively survive in the ""blood"" of under 25s". I'm more scared of the inaccuracies in the story
@@madewrongly6482 The flu from about a century ago was a fair bit worse for young people than old, which was the opposite of Covid-19, so it's not entirely implausible. That was speculated to be b/c the disease quite likely was similar to an older flu strand that the older generations were more likely to have had before.
I guess he specified mostly for the people who wouldn’t know what that is
@@PoochieCollins yeah a disease can effect certain age groups worse, sure but it wouldn't just straight up die the second it touches a middle aged person. That is not how blood, antibodies, or disease work. Its like chicken pox most commonly infects children but not exclusively. If you don't have the antibodies as an adult it will actually effect you worse. Trust me when I say it straight up doesn't make sense.
You should be upset that they chose to read this particular story. The anti-vaxxers and conspiracy nuts don't need any encouragement.
Hats off to the author of this story. I felt like I was expecting one horror trope and did not get lead where I was expected for most of it. Also great video! Super happy to see Are You Scared is back

ryan saying “this episode is sponsored by skillshare” in his spooky narrator voice made me lose it lmfaoo
Hard to get scared with Shane and Ryan. The duo are hilarious.
Well Shane is always poking holes in the story or making fun of a part. Kills the immersion.
On his own Ryan would totally get into it.
My thoughts exactly. The earlier seasons of Unsolved and the first season of Are You Scared were much more immersive and suspenseful in my opinion. Now, they just crack jokes together every 10 seconds and kill any suspense the story might have.
I wish they could bring back the "Is this real or fiction?" back bc this doesn't scare me out at all LOL. Their sketches are the ones creeping me out tho, especially Eric's face
It was probably pretty hard to find real stories that they could use
I agree!
Some of the real ones creeped me the fuck out that I stopped watching. I needed to be in a good space before watching then just never did. Once I found out they were now doing just fictional stories, I started watching again. They are less creepy but still entertaining.
I think a lot of people were complaining about the real ones
i think the reason they stopped that was because they said they weren’t comfortable making fun of real stories? that’s what i saw on a comment anyways

I LOVE how Shane referred to tuberculosis as tizzle bizzle 🤣
I have no reason to fear because I never get called back for an interview....the power of ✨rejection✨
That's a really clever story. You think you're supposed to expect some "typical" horror scenario (like Shane says) and are left confused when it avoids all of them, yet the foreshadowing is all there (for instance, why they want people with "lots of connections" and "experience making things go viral"). Very nice
I gotta say guys, I like that you're doing this in the same room. It actually makes the quality of the experience much higher. Usually leads to better banter. Also when's unsolved paranormal coming lol

You know...I somehow never considered how creepy job interviews are particularly for those looking because they're desperately in need of money or insurance. You go to a meeting place chosen by some stranger, alone, and the whole time you're predisposed to dismiss any worries and be accommodating because you really need the job.
I guess the guy from this story learned that the only thing scarier than a job interview is getting fired on your first day.
Good one 😆

Rewatching this, I love the foreshadowing in the job posting. They were looking for someone with “lots of connections” (to spread the virus) with “experience making things go viral” (excellent pun).
You should definitely research any place you're hoping to work for or even interview with. You need to know what kind of situation you're walking into to prepare appropriately.
