@Rhonda Busby Vindman & Yovanovitch weren’t Cabinet Secretaries, nominated by Tramp himself, & they weren’t well known on conservative media, & they weren’t famously devout Tramp supporters, but Sec Esper was all of those things. So if he had gone public with these horror stories that he’s written about in his book, & if he had condemned Tramp’s insane behavior as clearly & resoundingly as he does in this interview, it would have made a difference. @Rhonda Busby you’ve got to remember how it was during that time though. If the information was coming from a journalist, no matter how credible they are, no matter how stellar their reputation for being absolutely nonpartisan, no matter how well-sourced their story was, it didn’t even matter if there were recordings of the horrible things he said & did, Tramp & his followers called it fake and ignored it. So even though some (but it really wasn’t “most” at that time. It wasn’t until after Biden was sworn in & Bolton’s book hit the shelves that we learned about a lot of it. But even so, there’s a bunch of new horror in this book) of these recollections had been reported on, it hadn’t been coming from a sitting Secretary of Defense who was very popular with the MAGA crowd, and who was a big MAGA guy, himself. He was also getting regular airtime on Fox “News,” so he could’ve spoken directly to the MAGA crowd, on the channel that they actually watch and that they believe, and told them all about his terrifying experiences with our potus. He had credibility with them. And he decided that him being able to keep his job was more important than informing the American people about the things he witnessed when he had a duty to do so. Tramp wasn’t just enacting crappy policy or something like that. He wasn’t acting like a president at all. He was betraying all of us, and he was betraying America! Esper had a duty to inform, at the very least, the Congress, particularly when they were impeaching potus! And the American people had a right to know about all of it before we voted in 2020. Maybe we would’ve had that repudiation of Tramp and his hate and ignorance and incompetence that many of us were hoping for if those 74 million had been told about all of those things by the sitting Secretary of Defense, and so they could have based their decision on a little more information.

Excerpt: - Bob Woodward - FEAR
Former chief economic adviser Gary Cohn saw a draft letter he considered dangerous to national security on the Oval Office desk.
The letter would have withdrawn the US from a critical trade agreement with South Korea. Trump’s aides feared the fallout could jeopardize a top-secret national security program: the ability to detect a North Korean missile launch within just seven seconds.
Cohn was “appalled” that Trump might sign the letter. “I stole it off his desk,” Cohn told an associate. “I wouldn’t let him see it. He’s never going to see that document. Got to protect the country.”

I took, I believe, the same oath when I enlisted in the military and I considered that often, because I had taken it. I knew what it said and what it meant. At one point in my time in the military I carried a loaded weapon and not in a war zone. I asked exactly what the order was about using the weapon because I did not want to assume that I knew what was/is required. I was given the order that if I felt that the gun needed to be pointed at someone that my order was to shoot to kill. I asked the question because my situation warranted absolutely knowing the answer. You were in a number of years and you never questioned your oath? I wonder how many people take that oath and have no further thought about what that means. Do you wait until faced with a situation that gives you no time to think or ask about that oath? That seems to be rather dangerous when you have to make life and death decisions. It seems to me that if you take so little notice of that possibility of having to make life and death decisions, while in the military, that you don't consider it for years that maybe there is a problem, either with the oath or with the person taking it.
