@@aliceglick2933 Indeed the first tune is Milenberg Joys. What happens is that the video starts with the song started, and the beginning is missing, where the most known part is. Thanks again for sharing.
Alice Glick Keep up the great work, Alice, getting these amazing New Orleans traditional jazz bands on UA-cam , so the whole world can appreciate them !
Just browsing UA-cam for New Orleans music I stumbled on this vid. Great outfit. But honestly Haruka Kikuchi on trombone is Out Of This World. What a joy! This is my 'first encounter', I'll be sure to watch each and every vid on UA-cam.
Wow, Haruka! A trombone player who blends in gently. And such tasteful, musical solos. Actually reminds me of Jack Teagarden. I'll play Gentilly Stompers on my radio program on WGDR (The House at Pooh Corner).
A really nice performance by a talented band, with some great solos and very relaxed and effective accompaniment - and a surprisingly smooth recovery after the guitarist launched into "I'm Confessin'" instead of "I Can't Give You Anything But Love"!
Oh Yeah, some of my favorite New Orleans music friends! Hi Katy! You are soundin' great! 'Still swingin' over here in San Antonio. Thanks so much for all your inspiration----Yeah! Livin' the Dream!
I have enjoyed this band no end, they are a very talented all round I only wish that I was there just to soak it in. They are are a real find. Thank you A Glick.
Sean Clarke is one of the very best drummers in NOLA today, playing the authentic New Orleans traditional drumming style, with some later "hot jazz" Chicago style thrown in for good measure. First time I saw him was with the great Panorama Jazz Band. Then I found out that Greg Garrison is their regular drummer, who's just as good. But Greg never smiles, and Sean has a wonderful, infectious smile. So I commended they should hire Sean to give smiling lessons to Greg.
It may not be widely known, but Country Joe and the Fish borrowed a few bars of melody from Muskrat Ramble for their late 1960s antiwar hit, "I Feel Like I'm Fixin' to Die Rag". "And it's one-two-three-what are we fightin' for - don't ask me, I don't give a damn, next stop is Vietnam" and so on. With calliope in the arrangement. By the way, the Gentilly Stompers do a great rendition of the classic tune. Excellent band!!
Can someone put the names of the tunes and the position in the video and then Alice can you pin it to the top. The band are fantastic thank you for posting it Alice
to Pops Coffee. I'm very pleased with your comment. A couple of years ago Roman pointed me out to your blog since then I've been reading it with a big interest. The same with your comments on UA-cam which are very useful. Thank you very much.
Great musicians. Do the Busker bands ever get together? Thinking about Tuba Skinny but I suspect there is competiton between this band and Shaye Cohen's band that would preclude that happening. Haruko has much better tone/technique than Barnabus Jones although don't want to offend him. Also Miles is certainly a more adept tuba player. Big hole here because no clarinet player and Erika Lewis on vocals would be an outstanding addition. Thank you so much for inspirational delight.
Terry Garrett, re competition, I hope and think the New Orleans jazz scene is not like that, and there's respect, admiration, and a desire to play together among most musicians. I only clocked in to TS and all a few months ago, but would guess if we wait long enough we will see this band, or members of it, jamming with TS and just about anyone else you can think of.
Thank you both; thank you so much - and now I´ve also look to Shake Em Up Jazz Band. Oh, so much to look. Sorry, a little problem I´ve: Who is more in love with Haruka than me? And her little mole? I´m writing from Germany and will look, if she is here. Thanks again...
That is a lovely jazz band, all the members sit well together. Never heard a tuba play jazz like before. I will pass on the good news to my friends. Thank you
So the guy, the bandleader is a female named Catie. Kind of turns me off as at first I thought the band leader was a man, when looking at it, then when it talks/sang it sounded like a really gay guy. Then I noticed the vest was hiding its tits. I'm grossed out. I admit sheheit sounds like a pleasant person. But still, I'm not ready for these shenanigans so I'm otta here, for now at least. Maybe I'll come back.
When I posted that I'd only heard the trombone solo in the 1st tune. Then I heard "Margie". If you're referring to the trumpet player, I agree she shouldn't sing, but she plays fine, too.
Raymond Biller There are two females in this very talented band, Catie Rogers, trp/leader/vocals and Haruka Kikuchi, tmb. and they both play very fine solos. PERIOD. Catie is the vocalist, not the "soloist" , if that's who you mean - all the band members take solos- and she knows how to "sell the song".
@@mikesherline5433 How come we are blessed by THREE trumpet playing female jazz band leaders. Or are there more that I haven't heard yet. The other two I have heard are Marla and Shay.

You're perfectly correct. She introduces the band in the beginning at 5:16. Thank you very much. 1. 0:11 - "Golden Leaf Strut"
2. 6:07 - "Margie"
3. 12:37 - "I Can't Give You Anything but Love"
4. 18:52 - "That's A-Plenty"
5. 25:01 - "Thanks a Million"
6. 33:00 - "Muskrat Ramble"
7. 40:07 - "Louisiana"
8. 47:48 - "Riverboat Shuffle"
9. 54:41 - "Second Line"
First tune seems to be Milenberg joys. Great rhythm group. This little talented bone girl looks like my sweet niece from Shanghai.

Watching 2020 in St. Louis. The band looks like they’re really having fun. What great music.

All the band plays excellently but I like especially the trombonist. Thanks for sharing.
For one second I thought you had written "except for the trombonist" and I was like ARE YOU INSANE? Hahaha
Heard & watched this band a few days ago; made my NOLA visit. So fine.
Never heard this kind of music before It's awesome I love it, I think I'm hooked, fantastic musicians
