Great music! And, thanks for Shaye Cohn for keeping Tuba Skinny on track for all these years. I don't think it's any accident that this band is lead by Shaye Cohn and has an international following as well as being among the best if not the finest performing New Orleans jazz band. Dixieland, New Orleans, whatever-you-may-label it, this is American New Orleans-style jazz at its finest. Keep it up!

If I was stranded on a dessert island and I had to pick just one band that I could watch for the remainder of my days at a campfire in some weird dream I'd pick Tuba Skinny no kiddin.
It's hard to believe that just eight people can make such a full, powerful sound like this. Anyone who has ever played in a band appreciates how difficult it is to sustain a tempo. Shaye starts it off, and they don't seem to deviate one microsecond from her initial tempo throughout the entire number. Tuba Skinny is a fabulous band!
Is there any finer jazz ensemble anywhere than this? Clarinet, cornet and trombone playing together now for years with full respect for the great New Orleans tradition. No showing off, just serious dedication from everyone. Simply marvelous music making!

Shaye leads with such respect for her fellow musiciens. They look and sound like old friends. Shaye's cornet so reminds me of Bix. How many songs does Erika hold in her head? Making us happy by having fun together. If they ever return to the South of France I want to be there.

I've been listening to this kind of jazz for 75 years that I can recall, and I love Tuba Skinny and Erika's Lonesome Doves. I wish I was still playing. Oh, that Erika!!!! Love her.
I'm 74. When I was four and there-abouts, I used to play my great aunt's wind-up Edison Victrola for hours on end. My favorite song was _At a Georgia Camp-Meeting._ I remember it to this day.
The music is great on this recording. The mix is well done, which brings out all the instruments and voice clearly. About the best I have heard of Tuba skinny. c'est bon!

Tuba Skinny is definitely a group of musicians that are destined to be considered, as their history continues to be written, as one of the best jazz bands of all time. Precision musicianship. This video is magnificent. Shaye leads with such a driving and clean horn and all the rest are experts as well. I have been very fortunate to visit them in NOLA.
These musicians are utterly fantastic, they make the hair stand up on my neck. The music is old New Orleans style jazz and blues ,you can sure tell these musicians practiced many hours to get as good as they are ,like they say practice makes perfect. The true Life of this music is gone, those extraordinary musicians allow us to feel deeply what it was but they fail to bring it back to Life just because the community of the original audience with the musicians has disappeared long ago. @jamesp34 perdón, no hablo francés. Creo que el percusionista principal, el que toca este objeto que se cuelga al cuello, no es nada atípico de estas bandas. Esta música fue creada por músicos negros, pobres en su mayoría, que no tenían acceso a instrumentos caros, además eran bandas móviles, ambulantes. Así que ese instrumento increíble, corresponde con todo esto.
Fantastic players that have excellent blend,balance and intonation. Their rhythmic groove is perfect. It’s hard to find musicians that have a natural ear, touch and feel…all at the same time. They all got “soul”. I hope someday I can meet them and possibly sit in with my 1925 bass sax.

Tuba Skinny’s awesome musicians make my day each time I listen to them. Shaye Cohn is the perfect “hub” for their magic wheel of wonderful Dixieland jazz players. Erika Lewis channeling the true blues Black ladies of 100 years past is a tasty treat for fans of that era. Merci Beaucoup!

Ils ne soignent pas que le coeur et le corps, ils guérissent aussi l'esprit et l'âme avec leur élixir traditionnel des racines mêmes du Jazz ! 👍💥👏

Tuba Skinny is definitely a group of musicians that are destined to be considered, as their history continues to be written, as one of the best jazz bands of all time. Precision musicianship. This video is magnificent. Shaye leads with such a driving and clean horn and all the rest are experts as well. I have been very fortunate to visit them in NOLA.

These musicians are utterly fantastic, they make the hair stand up on my neck. The music is old New Orleans style jazz and blues ,you can sure tell these musicians practiced many hours to get as good as they are ,like they say practice makes perfect. The true Life of this music is gone, those extraordinary musicians allow us to feel deeply what it was but they fail to bring it back to Life just because the community of the original audience with the musicians has disappeared long ago. But thank’s so much to allow us to share , with your in crédible talent those so nice little moment so close to these Ghosts.

@jamesp34 perdón, no hablo francés. Creo que el percusionista principal, el que toca este objeto que se cuelga al cuello, no es nada atípico de estas bandas. Esta música fue creada por músicos negros, pobres en su mayoría, que no tenían acceso a instrumentos caros, además eran bandas móviles, ambulantes. Así que ese instrumento increíble, corresponde con todo esto.
Fantastic players that have excellent blend,balance and intonation. Their rhythmic groove is perfect. It’s hard to find musicians that have a natural ear, touch and feel…all at the same time. They all got “soul”. I hope someday I can meet them and possibly sit in with my 1925 bass sax.
