Lovely liquorice stick, it’s seamless; but when we see the sum of its parts, we have the group’s music to which my Mum (that’s how Australians spell the word) taught me ballroom dancing, because the underlying draw is a beautiful rhythmic drawing of one into love’s sweet embrace, no matter the tempo. I fell in love with the young lady who I eventually convinced to marry me (I lost her to brain cancer in 2014, only months after our 51st Wedding Anniversary) who was very discerning of course, AND a very good ballroom dancer, to this music, AND Bill Hayley’s Comets of course - the similarities are just so striking. I go to sleep almost every single night listening to this lady’s music because it brings my lady back to me. So thank you. Besides, the lady’s beautiful daughter Idun has the most gorgeous legs! Perfect? Who is? Einstein said that his best thoughts came to him as he dissected the bit(s) that he had got wrong. These ladies, as with all good musos, knows how to do that which our youngest daughter (very good dancer who soloed on Sydney’s Opera House at 17), and a bit of an academic who has just Graduated with a Degree in Theatre and TV Production and Direction as a Mature Age Student (her 3 kids are older than most of her Uni student colleagues) from the University Of The Sunshine Coast with a string of very high marks) learnt performing, to “own” one’s bad as well as good, and get on with the number. The lady does so well on so many instruments (I failed miserably on the piano and trumpet); but fortunately my Mum had taught me to be a good enough ballroom dancer to eventually win my lady on the dance floor (I come to us as the descendant of the Convicts who set in place the wonderful country of Australia, “landed” here in 1792, and didn’t give up, and I won her heart. I overheard her telling a friend that she wasn’t being hard to get, just “practicing how to keep me under control”. She won that battle too. Thank you to the Goddess of Jazz and Swing.
