Joe Braun (alto sax/vocals), Kris Tokarski (piano), Earl Bonie (tenor sax/clarinet), Taylor Kent (Bass), Molly Reeves (Guitar), Craig Klein (trombone/vocals)
What a great concert. It's so good to see that the wonderful NOLA music is alive after(?) the pandemic and the Vipers are still active - and it seems even better than ever. Joe Braun is cool as ever on alto & vocals, Earl Bonie has some excellent parts both on tenor and on clarinet, the piano player seems to be a guest or new to some of the less familiar tunes, but is an excellent pianist, and Craig Klein on trombone and the wonderful Molly Reeves on guitar are a pure pleasure to listen to, especially in their vocal duets. Video and audio quality are superb! Thank you very much for free posting this valuable hour and a half of outstanding New Orleans music!
It is so nice to see Molly Reeves in action again. Love her singing and guitar playing. I enjoyed watching videos of her and the other 5 women in the Shake 'Em Up Jazz Band.
to wwoz, a complete list of personnel would be appreciated ! I know only Molly Reeves on guitar, and Craig Klein on trombone . Saw the Vipers in Ascona a few years ago without pianist, but with Kevin Louis on trumpet , woulkd have been so nice to have both.

A stick of tea , I'm viper mad , I love this band . Excellent sound and interpretation. Professional . Second tune really set the stage and mood , for me . As I have heard it said " Community support is vital, tell a friend ". Folk music for folks . I'm diggin the vibe .
What can you say about Molly Reeves. First and foremost the girl SWINGS HARD! Second of all her percussive style of rhythm playing makes it sound like there's a drummer playing which there isn't of course but that driving beat of hers locks the whole group tight into the pocket. Sometimes a guitar player in the back is overlooked when you're watching the soloists out front but when you ask yourself what makes this group swing so hard you immediately lock on to Molly's guitar playing. It's like she's this tiny little powerhouse that's driving the whole band. I noticed how the Shake Em Up Jazz Band also swung really hard and now I see why. I think it's also great to hear a feminine take in a male dominated field. Perhaps it's that delicate touch that catches your ear. Great video.
I'd say the same thing except, THE TROMBONE SOUNDS LIKE HE'S PLAYING IN THE NEXT COUNTY. If I'd been him I wouldn't have been shy about and told the mix guy, turn up my sound. If no mixer, I'd adjust the mic.
Best greetings from a country that has truly gone through hard paths and shouldered the greatest guilt. But today Germany is a country that wants to flourish again and also wants to learn from others. Shalom. And I say this in love. ❤. Shalom ❤
Saw them dozens of times at the record stores on Canal Street many JazzFests ago. As a sax and clarinet player, I thought that the sax and voices stood out as the most distinctive raw sound I’ve EVER heard. The Jazz Vipers … don’t get more great NOLA than that!
Hey Craig!!! WOW!!! FABULOUS!!! FABULOUS!!! FABULOUS!!! Now I know what it means to miss New Orleans. I hope when I visit my family in New Orleans you guys are performing there. I miss seeing you guys playing that good New Orleans music. Hope you remember me. I'm Dianne Lewis, my son is Kerry Lewis a Bass Player who performed several gigs with you and Leroy. I'm so happy I got to see that wonderful performance even if I wasn't there in person.
I think............, no...., I am realy sure...... you, all, seperatly are amazing. But, you fit together so good. It gives me a great smile, respect and joy.
As a newbie to the NOJV. I ask myself, "Where have I been all my life." How have a missed t his fine group. Thanks for You Tube! I'm not some kid = 77 yrs. and I flatter myself to consider myself a fan and former woodwind (clarinet & alto & tenor sax) of jazz. The more I dig into YT the more discoveries I make + Cheers! My jazz tastes were formed back in the mid to late 50s and early 60s. Big Band of the 30s and onward. The Duke and the Count. Ella = Yes! Ragtime and King Creole. The Blues of the Mississippi Delta, etc. the 1950s Dave Brubeck, the NYC Jazz Scene, and so on. New Orleans' Dixieland, Al Hirt, The Dukes of Dixieland, Pete Fountain, and that era. I could carry on with name dropping for hours. but, I hope you catch my drift. What I consider "real jazz" and not the noise that passes for popular music in the 21st century. A modern interpreter of classic NO jazz is Tuba Skinny. Gosh, I wish I could travel down to NO more frequently. And, how do these folks earn a living? Where do we donate $ for their performances?
I first saw the Vipers at The Spotted Cat in 2015. What a show! We closed down Frenchmen Street that night. I was invited by Earl Bonie to sit right next to the band so I had the best seat in the house. They had a standing Monday night date at The Spotted Cat forever but unfortunately they had a dispute with the management several years ago and they haven't played there since.
Maravilha esse é sem dúvida o jazz tradicional das décadas passadas gosto de todas as vertentes do jazz mais e sse e sem dúvida o mais suingado viva nel orlleans

Joe Braun (alto sax/vocals), Kris Tokarski (piano), Earl Bonie (tenor sax/clarinet), Taylor Kent (Bass), Molly Reeves (Guitar), Craig Klein (trombone/vocals)

I'm a newbie to the NOJV fan club. Thanks for the resume of players.
The piano player is Kris Tokarski, a New Orleans regular who plays with the best bands in town.
It is so nice to see Molly Reeves in action again. Love her singing and guitar playing. I enjoyed watching videos of her and the other 5 women in the Shake 'Em Up Jazz Band.
Dobrá kapela,je škoda, že nemají trumpetu.😢
Simply beguiling guitar and vocals. What a pretty face too!
Quel talent, quel savoir-faire, quelle perfection! Et la douce voix de Molly. Un grand morceau de bonheur!

Wow what beautiful music. Very pleasant. My compliments to these masters. Well done!!!😀👍👋👋👋
Excellent jazz band. 48:49
Some bands use vocalists, while others are purely instrumental groups. 51:52
If you find slightly similar musical notes that you already know, don't worry, it happens. 52:22

100% agree
..
She's the front person vocally and instrumentally. Sit her right in front and center
Absolutely. As a guitar player myself Mollys playing really jumps out at me as absolutely exceptional. She is a rhythm powerhouse
She’s my favorite guitarist right now.
Whomever did the live sound and recording of this wonderful concert is brilliant! Great job!!

@@jeffreycraven8154 I hear ya but overall a great job and very entertaining to watch and listen to.

Such a great band. Its music made me feel very happy!
One of my favorite bands I discovered thanks to HBO's Treme more than a decade ago. Time flies but good music stays!

Que hermosos son los Vipers. La mejor banda de New Orleans. La voz de Joe Braun es mágica y el tempo de Molly insuperable
Wonderful!!! It made my heart churn. It took me back 60 years, feeling the same emotions as then.

Great band, great music! I am your fan.
What a fabulous group. I wish it had its own website with lots of music ...maybe it does. Better check!
Love the saxo's singing. Full of underground character and life's pain.
I've had a blast for the last 90 minutes. Please, tour the midwest. :)

That is some world class jazz right there!!
Many "original" songs leave me cold, but "If I Could Hug You" is definitely an exception. Lovely flowing tuneful song.
It's a great pleasure to listen to you all. And it's so well recorded and filmed!
Beautiful music, beautiful artists, beautiful crowd, energy, gesture.... just beautiful. I hope they are still playing
I really enjoyed you guys/girls🎶🎶🎤 There was only one instrument missing- The trumpet 🎺
