- 16" Byzance Vintage Trash Crash (Luke says "splash" but he meant crash. LOL!) turned upside down with a -
- 12" Classics Custom Trash Splash turned upside down and stacked on top
Luke also plays DW drums, Vater drum sticks, and Remo drum heads.
every time I see these 2 I'd watch the video twice. 1 for jason the other 1 for luke. man o' man that was sick!
So glad this was uploaded! Now I can marathon the whole performance! I haven't heard this one as an instrumental since the pre-pro. Cool to hear it in a format where the focus is on the riffs and drum chops again (though Spencer really completes the song). Thanks Meinl for sharing a high-quality audio and video recording of two of the best musicians in the scene performing some of the most technically impressive and melodically interesting music I've ever heard! :)
I still cant get out how good this album it... and the fact the drums aren't programmed? Holy shit, Luke has came such a long way its mind blowing.
Grav: He's improved a fuck ton since TWA.
@@Swedish_Drummer what's twa?
Juan Marin: The Word Alive. His former band.

Brilliant Arrangement and execution. I Personally Love it!!!
Luke you smashed this set!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was so good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And Jason....what?! Them guitar riffs were fire🔥
Aw man, as a drummer who's on a channel about cymbals that's watching a video on my favorite drummer, I sure am glad that we have so many shots of the guitarist during the crucial moments of the song that I'm coming to the live performance video to learn.
Like Jason's great, but come on director, that's not who we're here for.
after watching hos down official music vdo on luke's channel i was just thinking when is live vdo for retrograde is coming up and then after 2 days its out
Awesome as always!
Got so excited when the vocals should have dropped, because now I have an instrumental and vocal version of this song to listen to!

Who is the guitarist
$500 for the hi-hats alone! Fuck me
2:10
2:27
What the fuck do you call 3:52
I'm sure it's a walk in the park for you but the thought of playing that fill gives me a minor panic attack
LukeHollandDrums I saw you always force your left foot stepping 8th note, even in a bar which its end needs double bass, the foot independence was so impressive!!
that is a paradiddlediddle, you can find this used in a fill in 'Play The Victim' by The Word Alive. once you learn that this fill at 3:52 becomes a lot more clear
What is the hand placement from snare to hi-hat to snare to toms etc..
So paradiddlediddle number 1:
RLRRLL - the first right is on the ride cymbal followed by ghost notes on the snare
Paradiddlediddle number 2: the first right is an ACCENT on the snare, the rest of the notes are played on the hi-hat.
Paradiddlediddle number 3: the first right is an ACCENT on the rack tom with the rest of the notes being ghosted on the snare.
The last few notes of the fill are accented single strokes (RLRLKKRLRLKKRLKKK)
SO - the whole fill (the leading right of the paradiddlediddle is played on a different drum each time: Ride cymbal, Snare and finally the rack tom) is:
RlrrllRlrrllRlrrllRLRLKKRLRLKKRLKKK
Hope this helped!
Did you guys film the whole track list or something? Waiting for the hate brigade, he's not in my top list for anything, but he's fucking good for his age (excellent stick control, dem ghosts, dem roles). He'll only get better too. Oh, and just for the fuck of it (becuase some other giant flame war broke out on another one of these), at least he's not playing trashy music like everyone else that looks like him.
No, just four tunes - "Omni," "Hos Down," "Retrograde," and "Fragments." Hope you've enjoyed them! - Chris
MEINL Cymbals Definitely have, he's come a very, very long way as a musician. He used to be the kid everyone shit on just because he has a following, now he's the kid they shit on becuase he's making it. Btw, I'm about to pick up my first official plate from you guys! Sabe fa
boy at heart but your dual crashes are the best sounding crashes on the market.
BurnThePope you're cringey af
Happy Jordan Cool story.
"18 inch extra thin hammered crash...and that's the traditional finish".....They only make it in one finish. Maybe he was just stating its a traditional finish cymbal but he made it sound like there are other finishes to this crash. But enough with the bs nitpicking while he talks...love Jason and Luke's material together. The whole album is straight rippin all day long.
AlastairWain 100 percent positive they don't. It's only one finish for the extra thin hammered crashes. Obviously they have a traditional line and a brilliant line but only one finish for this extra thin hammered crash. I think they should make a brilliant version but they don't as of now.
AlastairWain yeah they have the brilliant thin and medium thin crashes but not the extra thin hammered crashes with the big hammering marks that give this crash a unique trashy quality. Sounds like a hybrid of a China and a crash. Love these crashes. The regular brilliant and traditional thin crashes have very small hammering all over but isn't nearly as trashy as the extra thin hammered crash. I
Didn't know they made 16" trash 'splash'
He meant trash crash. :-) - Chris
3:52 Fuck
