Odell Mateo nothing beats a nice strat style guitar with singles, but splits sound great for their purpose. I have both - I love the sound of split humbuckers AND singles depending on the sound I’m going for. I now understand why people own multiple guitars lol! (I’ve only had one electric for 19 years up until last year - a strat).
Epic Shneak they’ve been opening and people are taking their sweet time jamming out in there while there’s a line at the front waiting to get in. Consider yourself lucky.
I’ve been going to them when they only had 3 stores. I use to go to the one in Fountain Valley as a kid in the 70’s and look at the walls of guitars in amazement.

He is very humble, he’s honestly one of my idols. If you listen to some of his interviews one of his biggest milestones was getting a jp7 music man and you can tell that was a pinnacle moment in his life. Now music man and sterling make sig guitars for him. Not to mention the dude is a complete guitar god, totally deserves it.
Everything he played in the video made me laugh out loud. from the high string pinch harmonics and drop F# chugs to the fast country licks he pulled out of nowhere to when he messed up the tapping lick from aviator (it's a hard lick to play cleanly). Such an incredible guitarist.
I don't think it's out of tune, just dissonant. That part of the song (tendinitis) has a really dissonant final chord in the progression and resolves after that. It's also a lot more subtle in the original recording with the backing.
Analogies used by Jason to describe this beautiful guitar; "beefy", "creamy", "liquidy". 😂😜 Music Man Richardson 7 is basically a nice pot roast it is confirmed.

For those who are criticizing the tone, more than likely for Covid reasons Jason probably had to just record this with whatever Camera mic is picking it up. A lot of guitar reviews will run the sound through a mixer first and have it recorded on some kind of recording software where they can further refine the sound. I don’t think he got to do this for this interview otherwise you could probably pick up the more subtle frequencies.
I saw this guy play when he was basically fresh out of high school doing small gigs. He was extremely talented then playing for All Shall Perish. Crazy to think he's now somebody noteworthy enough to be sponsored by a company.
I’ll tell you one thing, as you progress more and more his guitar playing becomes even more amazing. I’ve only been a fan for about two years now and every time I progress in a technique it becomes more evident just how flawless his playing is. Keep up your hard work and don’t give up on the guitar!
Wish the JP series had coil splitting for positions 1 and 3. Might look at one of these some days for the versatility. I'm not much of a metal dude, but like something that plays fast with a lot of tones.
That top is next level. I’ll stick to my tele and strat but the duality of this is amazing. The only issue I have with splitting coils doesn’t really give you a true single coil sound, just like on my tele combining the two single coils doesn’t really duplicate a humbucker. Technology has gotten the difference really close recently though.

The majesty pickups aren’t nearly as bright and harsh which makes them sound great with distortion but you’ll never get those bright vintage cleans from them.
probably because he's using DI. clarity takes a lot on 7 string and di is clarity death. unless youre dual tracking its probably going to sound a little muddy like that

MANY low tuned / 7 / 8 string recordings are done with DI / Impulses etc. It's just a muddy horrible sound, funny how John Petrucci has the same muddy arsed tone from his musicman.... I'll agree it takes a lot to get a low tuned guitar to be clear, normally involves less gain, however dual or quad tracking will only add to the stereo width, and won't improve tightness, just your perception of how "big" it is which maybe more pleasing still doesn't indicate a better tone IMO.
I’ve always thought 7s and 8s tuned down sound like pointless shit it’s sometimes cool with one dude playing or clean tones but in a live distorted 2 guitar and bass mix it’s ridiculous
Something completely different. It’s a custom MusicMan bridge, the purpose and function is similar, but not the design. Floyd-Rose tremolos have locking nut as standard, whereas these tremolos don’t require that, still, they can hold tune amazingly from what I’ve heard. This bridge design has been taken from the Majesty Signature of John Petrucci. :)

The only thing that bothers me about the JP’s, Majesty and basically all their high end guitars is that they don’t recess all the back plates. That seems odd to me. I mean even Gibson recesses the back plates on their LP’s.
Only downfall for me is the position of that pickup switch. I understand the benefits of it being right there but I've noticed he's constantly grazing or bumping it while down picking. That would get hella annoying to me and cause me to hate playing it. It's his signature so I'm sure he designed it to be there. If it was about an inch and a half forward I would definitely consider buying one.
I have the Sterling version of the guitar, and honestly I also thought the pickup switch location might be an issue but it's really not! even though it's not impossible, the angle you have to flip it is almost parallel to the strings so it makes it a bit difficult for you to accidentally toggle it... I've had more issues with Gibsons than this one, it's a great guitar

When down picking I usually have a lot of movement in my wrist (very loose). I just know how I play I would constantly hit it. I do see the benefits of it right there but if it was about an inch and a half forward it would be perfect position for me. Everyone is different.
According to Musicman’s website(they have a wiring diagram for this guitar specifically on their site), the middle position is the two inner most coils, but every video I’ve seen on this guitar says that it’s the two outer most coils. Which is correct? Regardless, I fucking want one, but I can’t afford one yet. One day!
He is not that good.... just practice 30.000 hours and you are halfway there. Calling him mind blowing is a big understatement. He is on a level we have never heard of and we will never reach. Love him cause he makes me just love playing even more and practice as much as possible.

They have been tweaked and improved over years. He’s 25 years behind.
