Thomas Headley thanks that is true. It can be difficult I guess every one is different. Never thought music could lead to destruction as the first two movements of this piece singlehandedly kept me alive in some of my most darkest days. This music speaks to my core and every week if it was ALL I could do, I just learnt one bar. One by one. And then I could play it. It was my only source of happiness and beauty for a long time so I can’t really understand that frame of mind.

I started learning moonlight sonata back in high school, and finished mov 1, 2, and a little past the first page of the 3rd mov. Then I stopped playing piano altogether for nearly a decade after leaving for university and doing other life things. But I recently got back into piano by some miracle, and was determined to relearn mov 1 and 2 (a surprising amount of muscle memory came back to me), and am on the road to learning the rest of mov 3. I keep coming back to your video for inspiration, pausing and replaying and slowing down to catch how exactly you do it because in my opinion this is the best and my favorite rendition of this piece. The way your fingers just fly and dance across the keys with sometimes tender and sometimes fiery strokes, and insane emotion and dynamics and clarity. Thanks for your years of love and experience and practice in music to bring us your moonlight sonata :) Love from Canada

Zalera In my opinion, referring to her as “Valentina” would be considered more disrespectful than “this person” because you are saying her name from a stance where you are either friends with her or at such a musical talent that she matches your skill as a colleague or peer. Using her last name, “Lisitsa,” would be more appropriate because it gives her a professional stance when being mentioned in third person. There is a reason why most essays require people to speak about authors using their surnames instead of their first names, and this is that exact reason.

I would give every one of my meager possessions for the chance to hear her play this in person.
This song, specifically how she plays it, strikes a chord in me that I can't explain. It's immaculate, and one of my favorite songs of all time, again, specifically played by her.
I've head many versions of this, and listen to a very wide variety of music, but this is just incredible. I don't have words to describe how this moves me. I have a vague understanding of the work that must have gone into playing like this, but it just seems less like she's playing this song, and more like the song is just flowing out of her.
I don't think I've ever heard another composition that hits me like this does.
Thank you for this masterpiece, Valentina Lisitsa. You deserve every ounce of praise that can be given for this.

For this I came down to the world to wait for the Fa
I have fulfilled the contract from a prehistoric time
What is taking place is not a fairy tale
Many people have the same dream as I
      Summer 2013
      ***
      I Help You Cleanse Yourself
Dafa disciples have told you the truth behind illusion
Those truly poisoned are the mass of people, including you
Believing the lies, you will disintegrate along with the red demon
Telling the truth to save people-this compassion comes from my heart
Reaping no reward, I often get up early on cold days
Having no time to eat, nor rest in steaming hot weather
To save people, I withstand terror and pressure
Since I promised Gods to wake you up in the time of danger
You came from heaven, and gaining Dafa is your purpose
That will help beings in your paradise escape calamity
This is the reason for your descending to be human
Do not let the red demon brainwash you with Party culture
Beings in your paradise are longing for you
      December 2, 2014"
Master Li Hongzhi (Hong Yin IV, from Falun Dafa teachings)

She plays it much faster yet cleaner than anyone I ever heard
The notes so clear, the volume so dynamic, the movement of her hands absolutely effortless and the emotion in this performance is just over the top
I think that’s how Beethoven himself would have played it
