It's not the speed, It's the clarity of each note
She has both
And the speed
Not just the speed*
AS PRONOUNCED AS A SLAVIC CURSE WORD ISN'T IT!???

She's just the Best 💯
This. I've practiced this a little and, while I have yet to reach her speed, I've actually managed to play it really fast. It just sounds dirty and bad^^;
Imagine being depressed in 1800s and Beethoven drops this fire
Yup
Funny thing is that the famous 1st movement is depressing as hell.
@@waryo Depressing as hell? I don't agree at all. On the other hand, there's no accounting for tastes!

I’ve watched this a million times, and each time I hear something different. This is a timeless masterpiece. Beethoven would be proud.
The 3rd movement of the Moonlight Sonata is in my opinion the most incredible musical piece ever written.
It goes well in a hyper-caffeinated society that we currently live in. Urgent and rushed.
Check out Liszt we can all say for certain he was incredible, Mazeppa incoming
Right on! its mindboggling to me of how Beethoven even thought of this stuff, totally insane, absolutely brilliant
if you find this exciting, you should definitely check out rachmaninovs etude tableaux op 39 no 6, and some of liszts etudes (especially mazeppa) and his mephisto waltz.
What about Chopin's Ballade no.1? :(
Beethoven can't beat that coda
How is this even humanly possible? The speed, the accuracy...and the tension between her and the piano. Brilliant.

@@lopezfamily2089 of course it has a lot to do with learning and practice but still, I think one needs to be born with a talent that makes them drawn to whatever instrument they choose for them to master it to this level, just like how singers are born with their unique voices

I don't think Valentina will ever know how much I look up to her performance of this. I've watched these three movements of her playing for almost 10 years. I have learned the first two movements because of her. No one else plays Beethoven with this beautiful passion.
Thomas Headley thanks that is true. It can be difficult I guess every one is different. Never thought music could lead to destruction as the first two movements of this piece singlehandedly kept me alive in some of my most darkest days. This music speaks to my core and every week if it was ALL I could do, I just learnt one bar. One by one. And then I could play it. It was my only source of happiness and beauty for a long time so I can’t really understand that frame of mind.
I learned Moonlight sonata bar by bar as a result of Valentina’s performance.
Don’t give up, Cleary Ellis! I put this aside for now, but will continue again when I’m in the right frame of mind 😉
You got a heart from her
After 6 month of very hard practice I've stopped playing 3d Movement because I heard this perfect version and realize that my piano skills are ridiculous 🙈🤣🤣🤣
This tempo so clearly brings out the hidden phrasing Beethoven so intentionally placed into every arpeggio and harmonic transition. She plays with such intentionality that it almost brings out new phrases and lines I don't hear in other interpretations.

I started learning moonlight sonata back in high school, and finished mov 1, 2, and a little past the first page of the 3rd mov. Then I stopped playing piano altogether for nearly a decade after leaving for university and doing other life things. But I recently got back into piano by some miracle, and was determined to relearn mov 1 and 2 (a surprising amount of muscle memory came back to me), and am on the road to learning the rest of mov 3. I keep coming back to your video for inspiration, pausing and replaying and slowing down to catch how exactly you do it because in my opinion this is the best and my favorite rendition of this piece. The way your fingers just fly and dance across the keys with sometimes tender and sometimes fiery strokes, and insane emotion and dynamics and clarity. Thanks for your years of love and experience and practice in music to bring us your moonlight sonata :) Love from Canada

Zalera In my opinion, referring to her as “Valentina” would be considered more disrespectful than “this person” because you are saying her name from a stance where you are either friends with her or at such a musical talent that she matches your skill as a colleague or peer. Using her last name, “Lisitsa,” would be more appropriate because it gives her a professional stance when being mentioned in third person. There is a reason why most essays require people to speak about authors using their surnames instead of their first names, and this is that exact reason.

This song, specifically how she plays it, strikes a chord in me that I can't explain. It's immaculate, and one of my favorite songs of all time, again, specifically played by her.
I've head many versions of this, and listen to a very wide variety of music, but this is just incredible. I don't have words to describe how this moves me.
