My mother just died last week, and the Lutheran funeral was the day before yesterday. She is the one who told us that a funeral is for the living, but she was referring to those who list all of these rituals or "instructions" about how they want their funeral to be. Her point is that the person who died is absent from the body and not hearing the funeral itself, and not able to know whether their "wishes" were carried out or not. And some non-Lutheran friends were surprised that we had a sermon rather than a eulogy, and I explained that in a Lutheran funeral, the main focus is on Jesus - what he has done for all of us on the cross, what he did in the life of the deceased, and what he will do in the future. So the myth about who the funeral is "for" depends on what a person means by "for."
Have you ever noticed how we only say the people we like become angels? No one says, "Creepy Uncle Fred is watching over us" or "Nosy Aunt Matilda" is still checking in on you.
I've always thought the "becoming angels" myth was a misunderstanding of Mark 12:25. (which of course is mot the point of the text, but it needs to be read in context of the previous verses and the question that was asked) Love your show -so informative and comforting!
...it would be too late to donate them AFTER you die, because you'd still have to give permission, and that would be impossible, right? 😉 Why would giving such a precious gift to someone be a sin? My dad's best friend received a heart from a kid who crashed his motorcycle, and he lived another 25 years because of it-- years, he otherwise wouldn't have, and they were extra years he got to love and serve his family and neighbors, too. Just my opinion, though...
hello Pastor! ive been watching your videos for a long time. What do you think about all these people that had near death experiences where they go to hell and also see the Kindom shown by an Angel or Christ himself?
Everything God does to us, saves us. His Word, His actions, His life, His death, His being - His name! So, the Word heard by a child is saving in the womb - when the mother sings, prays, reads the Word, the baby hears it and it causes belief ... that is because we can only walk away ... and a baby is going nowhere, TBTG.
Paul didn't say believers go to Heaven when they die. He said they sleep until the Lord appears, then we will always be with the Lord, which Jesus promised in John 14 would be in his Father's house, which is Heaven.
In Revelation 6 we read about the souls under the altar, crying "how long, o Lord". Is it a myth that in heaven all pain and suffering will be gone? Jesus will wipe our tears when He returns, on the new earth, but before that, are we joining the cry "How Long O Lord" in the awareness of the suffering on earth, and subsequently also suffering ourself?
In modern greek folk (demotic) songs it is very interesting that, although the greek nation is historically christian, you can nowhere in them hear for something existing after death. Death is considered to be the final end, the final and lethal enemy, the absolute evil without any hope after him. None is mentioned to have beaten him. It is so strange. Nowhere is mentioned Christ. It is as if the people who created these songs has remained in the ancient, before Christ era.
An appearance before "the judgment seat of Christ" does not necessarily mean a condemnation. "There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." (Romans 8:1) Christ does not condemn his own. In Christ, we are made righteous (sinless before God, completely good with absolutely no evil) being washed in His blood by grace thru faith. There are thus no evil deeds that would condemn the righteous. Those sins have been washed away. On the other hand, there are no good deeds that would spare those who remain dead in their sins as only God is good (see Mark 10:18, also Ephesians 5:9) and they are apart from God. Besides, man is not saved by works (see Ephesians 2:9). "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23) "However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness" (Romans 4:5)
I don't think it matters what body is laid in the ground. Since people have been dead too long, their bodies are physically changed into different matters. If their was a buried body and God raised them from the dead, they probably look the same but their corpse was deleted.
Can we say that believers in Christ’s completed work of His cross and empty tomb “are not judged guilty (or are judged not guilty) by a just and Holy Judge? While those who go to the grave insisting on holding on to their sin as there own and declaring that Jesus did NOT die for them will be judged by a Just and Holy Judge to remain and be judged guilty and receive the appropriate sentence?
Paul does not say to be out of the body IS to be present with the Lord. That's out of context. the verse is "2 Corinthians 5:8 New King James Version 8 We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord."
Pastor Brady Blasdel said that Lazarus was raised from the dead, true but he was raised to the old life - not to the new. Hence, he died again. I read where he was a bishop or elder somewhere in the Med - perhaps it was Crete. I'll be sure to ask him when I see him as I had the same question bro
The second myth does not seem to be a myth? "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad." 2 Corinthians 5:5-10
I think the bee dies trying to get away after it stings, since the stinger has a little hooks, it anchors the bee to our skin temporarily, but if it gets scared, it tries to fly away and tears it’s body away from the stinger, that’s when and why it dies from stinging a human vs living after stinging another insect. So it fits your analogy even better, death bee dies because it’s afraid of Jesus, the real human, haha! but it can’t escape without losing its stinger and dying.
My previous church believes in ‘wholism’. You cannot divide the body and the spirit. Therefore, it all goes into the grave. Their funerals are very bleak.
I know the trend is now to have a party instead of a funeral. The funeral is for the living to mourn and to witness about the death and resurrection of Jesus. So in that respect it is a witness to the living.
Dying you will die. That makes me think of how we are (because of original sin) dying or who life, aches, pain, suffering with one physical issue or another, then we finally can't go on anymore and death overtakes us. Dying you will die. Yes, that is how it is. Also, Adam and Eve already knew good, how sad that they wanted evil. That is what is happening in our society when adults want to expose children to evil. So sad.
I’ve come to term with taking off this body of corruption (death) and putting on the new incorruptible body (life) yes this body will die and go back to the earth. I don’t see this guys point.
"This Guy" is a Pastor, a Reverend; His point is that death is unnatural. It's not something we should come to terms with but something we should rejoice in for, Absent from the body, Present with the Lord! And one day, God will reunite our soul with a new body, made to be as it should have, Immortal, Imperishable, Incorruptible!!
in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth! If heaven was eternal then it would not have to be created. the trinity is eternal! God, Jesus, Holy Spirit was never created (they have always been there)!
Dear Pastor, You message is needed. However, you lost me when YOU laughed at the suffering of your POOR CAT!!! What kind of family neglects their pet to such a point that their teeth are ROTTEN!!! WHAT KIND of MAN of GOD would show no REMORSE at the POOR Creatures SUFFERING??? YOU have really fallen in RESPECT in MY EYES!!! YOU should be ASHAMED of YOURSELF!!! SMH!!
OMGoodness!! Not everyone inspects their cats mouth! My cat had rotten teeth too and likewise, we had them pulled. It was many MANY Years ago! Time heals all wounds, it sometimes makes them funny too.... Lighten up my friend!
@@METVWETV Almost ALL Dental Issues are preventable with minimal effort! It is our CHRISTIAN DUTY to provide GOOD Care of Pets in our Charge! PERIOD! Whatever response you may have does not change this basic fact!!! It is when people do nothing and say it is no big deal that animals continue to suffer and attitudes DON’T change! I have nothing else to say on the matter! Good Day!

Thank you Pastor. I know I just cringe when I hear someone say their loved one is an angel now. I pray more people seek truth. Praise be to God.
Thank you Pastor Wolfmueller for your teaching. Joyful, hopeful and biblical.
Have you ever noticed how we only say the people we like become angels? No one says, "Creepy Uncle Fred is watching over us" or "Nosy Aunt Matilda" is still checking in on you.
Such a beautiful uplifting video. Thank you!
Amen! Thank you Rev. Wolfmueller! I needed to hear this again! I should make this one I listen to once a month. Praise be to God🙏🙏🙏
''Cemetery'' is from the greek and means ''where they sleep''.
I'm bookmarking this so that when I am resurrected I can come back here and watch this again.
Thank you, Pastor Wolfmueller. I needed to hear this! ❤
You settled my question about the Judgement.
I've always thought the "becoming angels" myth was a misunderstanding of Mark 12:25. (which of course is mot the point of the text, but it needs to be read in context of the previous verses and the question that was asked)
Love your show -so informative and comforting!
Is it sinful to volunteer to donate your organs after you die? Why or why not?
...it would be too late to donate them AFTER you die, because you'd still have to give permission, and that would be impossible, right? 😉 Why would giving such a precious gift to someone be a sin? I have always been Lutheran and this is the first time. I've heard of heaven being temporary or did I miss what you said.

Just found this during Holy Week in 2021.
If believers are not judged what about 2 Corinthians 5:10?

Another question, what happened to Lazarus after? (curiosity)

Can I ask a book about Christian funeral? Do You know any? I'm really interesting in this topic a lot.

Asking a pastor about what happens at death is just begging to be lied to.
I was wondering when the resident Atheist was going to rear it's ugly head...
Thank you for not disappointing!
Very bad
