All we need to know in Revelation is Jesus wins! And because Jesus wins, we win also!

Some denominations really mess this book up. Thank you for casting it in a comforting, positive light.

The revelation of Jesus Christ. Thanks. This is helpful.
    1. Who is being revealed.
    2. Who is it revealed to?
    3. Scripture interprets scripture.
    4. What you hear and what you see.
    5. Movement from heaven to earth.

My late mother in law had a detailed chart of all the beasts and images from Daniel and Revelation on her lounge room wall. I believe this was a ploy to begin conversations about biblical prophecy if any visitors came. There was no comfort there. Only fear.

I always had trouble reading Revelation. Then I read it in Kretzmann's Commentary.....WOW! Now I understand it.

    B Dub,
Your office so much more colorful! It matches the surrounding culture...glad that you could fill the pastorate at two churches. Praise be to God!

Thanks for sharing this great list.
A tip i realised.... The incredible understanding that after reading chapter 5 that NOBODY was worthy to open the scroll and read it, except Jesus. Then He goes further then just reading it and undertaking what it says He shares it with us! We are told what the contents of the scroll are! We are not worthy to hear these words only Him and yet He wants us to know it and understand it. It is an absolutely incredible gift, a blessing!!
We are so unworthy on any level to understand this, but the work is done through HIM. I do believe that many things we will not understand until they come to pass and then Holy Spirit will bring the words that are written here to mind when they happen.
He has done that before with scripture for me in certain situations the exact scripture that is appropriate to help or guide. I believe He will do that when the time comes.

I also find it helpful to read the book of Daniel first and see what’s similar to Revelation. Also, look at the persecution of the first centuries for ideas of how some it has been fulfilled already.

are there any other rules you'd add for the book of Daniel, especially toward the end?

The Revelation of Jesus Christ can be interpreted in two ways; 1) as mentioned in this video, as the revealing of Jesus Himself; or 2) as something Jesus is revealing to us. I read it as the latter, because Jesus Himself is already revealed in the Gospels. I only began reading and studying the Bible a few short years ago, never belonged to any organised church and don't intend to be, but once I had begun to study it myself, I have not been afraid, nor have I found the Book of Revelation frightening. Someone else commented that all we really need to know, is that Jesus wins, and therefore so do we; hallelujah! Amen. 🙏💖

I didn't hear you say anything about Revelation 13. I'm not understanding what you're saying.

St. John the evangelist never saw so strange a creature as one of the interpreters of his book. G.K. Chesterton 😁

Ok still don't get it. It terrifies me. I just hope God lets me come home when I die. Everything else is as clear as mud.

Jill, everything you need to know is in John 11: 25 - 26. And this is reiterated throughout the Bible. I've been a Christian since I was 3, and now, at almost 70, the weightiness of things is really starting to set in upon me. But Jesus is, indeed, the Resurrection and the Life! If you trust in Him as Lord God Incarnate and Savior, the promise is for you as it was for Martha, and for me, and for everyone else.
A book which will strengthen your confidence, I think, is "The Resurrection of the Son of God," by N.T. Wright. I very much urge you to read that book.
For even Christians, death is really IT, right? But we have God's promise to His saints of dying grace.

Given Luther's attitude to the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ, I don't think Lutheran ministers are the best to ask. Especially a minister in the LCMS who is required to hold to a-millennial position.
