I used to listen to this over and over and over when I was a kid and just got this record. This was and always will be next level. RIP Brad Delp

As a kid, every time I'd get an album, it was right to the record player, side one, over and over, then side two, over and over. We'd listen to it twenty times the first day. The next day we invite our friends over " TO GET THEIR REACTION". WATCHING YOU AND OTHERS REACT TO MUSIC ON UA-cam IS LIKE BEING A TEENAGER AGAIN.

The greatest first record by anybody ever ! Tom Shoals is a genius, musician and engineer. He made this entire record in his home studio. Played all of the instruments. Brought in Brad Delp for vocals. Took it to the record company. They said ok, go to the studio and make it. He tricked em. Brought it back again and said here it is ! Then he found musicians to create a band so he could tour. If you look at the cover. Boston is a guitar shaped space ship. The city of Boston is seen at the top under a bubble. Along with the other cities of earth as earth explodes in the background. So were off to a new home. Boston kept this motif alive with the next record called "Don't Look Back" and the 3rd album is called Third Stage. It has a great song called "Cool The Engines". After that Tom waited too long for another record. The rest of the guys made one without him. Pissed him off. So they're done. Then Brad Delp committed suicide about 15 years ago. Very sad.

@tomhill9445 Not quite. All of Brads vocals were recorded by Boylan at big name LA studios not Toms home studio. Tom does not play a single drum track on this record and this has been documented in the liner notes of every copy of this record that has ever been sold. The liner notes are clear that Sib plays drums all songs except one. There is a total of 5 musicians playing instrument tracks on this record. There is not one track from the demo on this record. The demo was a 6 song demo and yet there are technically 9 songs on the record so your claim can not be true. In addition, the band as pictured on the back of the record recorded three songs in LA before this record was finished one of which made it to the record and that song is Let Me Take You Home. This is proof that the Band Boston had recorded as a band before this record was ever released let alone a tour even planned.
Here it is direct from Tom through his attorney under oath:
      8. Scholz re-recorded the demo songs, plus some additional songs, for BOSTON's eponymously named first album, released in 1976 (the "debut album"). There were nine songs on the debut album, two of which were listed as one, "Foreplay/Long Time." All of the songs on the debut album were written by Scholz, except for "Let Me Take You Home Tonight," which was written by lead singer Brad Delp.
      Goudreau's involvement in BOSTON
      9. Goudreau is a talented guitar player.
      10. Goudreau played on just two of the eight cuts on the debut album: "Let Me Take You Home" and "Foreplay/Long Time." Bassist Fran Sheehan played bass on "Let Me Take You Home" and "Foreplay." Delp played acoustic guitar on "Let Me Take You Home." Otherwise, excluding drums and vocals, Scholz played all instruments on the debut album, and performed on every song, performing more of the instrument tracks than all other musicians combined.
      11. On BOSTON's second album, Don't Look Back, released in 1978, Goudreau appeared on just four of the eight cuts: rhythm guitar on "The Journey," lead guitar on "Used To Bad News," and some of the lead guitar on "Don't Look Back," and "Don't Be Afraid." Scholz played the majority of the guitar tracks on these four songs, and all other instruments on all songs, except for drums and a few notes of bass guitar on "Don't Look Back."

Tom Scholz and Jeff Lynne should get some special award for Ingenious Recorded Tapestries in rock. Lynne was a little earlier but both of them (along with perhaps Steely Dan) were taking what the Beatles and others showed was possible in studio in the 60s, and just exploded it. One of the great album productions in recorded history.
