On a recent lock job my son was trying to shim open a Schlage cylinder from a deadbolt he was rekeying (I was on a different door) and I heard him say he thinks it’s a wafer cylinde. So I thought what the heck you talking about and when I seen it had the + sign above the keyway I instantly knew it was a Schlage “secure a key” cylinder. I also dont keep those special “blue keys” around (required for rekeying) so I told customer we needed to replace the deadbolt which we did. Haven’t see one of those “secure a key” cylinders in a long time. You ever mess with one?

That’s terrifying Mike, glad you’re okay and that local law enforcement is doing something about it. Did he say why you needed to change the wording on your van? They did a great job on the new stickers looks super professional still. Are you keeping the van stocked or since you’re retired are you going to do use it for recreation now?

That’s sad that someone would waste their time trying to scare or hurt someone for absolutely no reason. Keep up the great videos and them lock tips.😊

I cut my followers out of 3/8” I’d (1/2”od) x10’ white pex-b pipe from big box store.

late to comment but would the sc20 lishi fit in that keyway or would it only be good for the lishi shown in the video?

Help, my door sounds like the door in a haunted house after 3 months. Is there anything I can do to get rid of SQUEAK?

SC1 & SC4 are for the Schlage “C” keyway whereas the SC20 is the Schlage “L” all section key and work in C, CE, E, EF, F, FG, & G keyways; that’s why the SC20 is so thin. If you don’t work with Schlage keyways outside of the C, which is far and away the most common, then you don’t need an SC20. Also you can usually use 6 pin Lishi’s in 5 pin locks either on their own or with a spacer. Also Beat are a tip stop key and PIN numbers are reversed from traditional bow stop keys so if you’re using the 7 pin in a 6 pin lock, which will work, just remember don’t try to pick space 7 in a 6 pin lock. Also Best is also only for the “A” keyway which is a small portion of Best keyways of which there are a lot.

Hey Mike, I'm curious how you determined, based upon the markings of the wafer kit, that a #00 Tumbler was the first position and measures .250", a #22 Tumbler was the second position and measures .225 and so on and so on. Is a #00 Tumbler always .250", etc., etc. Where would I locate this information? Any help you could bestow would really be appreciated and thanks for your help.

While I agree that re-pining cam locks is a PIA, I had to re-pin the cam locks for the saddle bags/tour pack on my old classic Harley Davidson (Chicago Lock Co) to retain the visible SN stamped on the face of the locks because the contest judges will mark you down if you install aftermarket locks (that don't have SN's stamped on them).

In Australia we have Lockwood , Yale , mostly on our homes and shops - which lishi do we need

Are those strictly house lock or are they for car and house I lock my keys in car way to often
