The problem is that they don't pass the fraud check. This isn't anywhere close to 30 notes per second, and it's embarrassing that a guitarist as acclaimed as MAB would attempt to pass his playing off as if he could.

4:52 Unfortunately there is a mistake in the video 😂: if you play 1/64th notes with 30 bpm 4/4 time, you will play 8 notes per second, not 10. However if you increase the speed to 112.5 bpm, you will play 30 notes per second, so that's ok. Or in other words: The brain must keep up with the speed of the fingers, which might become difficult under certain conditions 🥴.

@biscobisco1882 To me !!!! There's more to expressing oneself on guitar than just playing super fast!!!! Playing extremely fast is just one facet to playing ROCK guitar!!!! I started playing guitar in the early 80's and totally get where the whole shredder thing comes into play. I got Yngwie's Rising Force when it came out and still love that album. Fast forward, I am more interested these days in stuff like Meshuggah's odd rhythmic arrangements and the stuff Mike Dawes does. That's when I want to listen to something extreme. Mostly though... I find myself going back and listening to Zep, Rush, Heart, BOC, Eagles and Fleetwood Mac. It's what I grew up with and the songs move me.
I used to play up to 27 nps, when I was playing Impellitterri when I was younger, now I am satisfied with 24 per second (both linear and repetitive sequences)... in all honesty I am fine with 155 bpm 32nds small triplets since I play hair metal, not metalcore or death metal or something ...
You should listen to a guy called Matteo Mancuso. He has a very distinctive right hand tecnique (some sort of fingerpicking, no pick) that he uses in different genres: hard rock, prog, fusion, jazz, blues, classical, etc. He can shred, even if he does not define himself as a shredder. But, most of all, he is very musical and a very nice guy.
I've tried that Paul Gilbert thing of putting picks onto a cordless drill, and it know that I couldn't put it in the highest speed or I'd break the strings, so I checked how many rpm I could safely use on the drill before doing some damage, and even using the drill I max out at around 34 notes per second. Getting 30 without assistance is mind bowling.

So the challenge is playing this specific scale up and down like they do it in the video? Or is the challenge playing 30 notes/second in ANY way possible?? Because theoretically by just doing tremolo picking (aka: BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR) or tapping with the edge of your pick (like Joe Satriani e.g.), you can play faster than that... What is the actual speed record? The important part is what are the constraints? What type of playing?
