Holy crap who’s this guy!? First time I’ve seen him and my god he’s a brilliant car journalist. Great review of a great car by the looks of it. 10/10
Hey. Thank you, really appreciate the kind words 😊 Mark.
A small but loyal band of followers… thoughtful review and probably the only reviewer not spending 10 mins explaining the screen widgets.
Great review. Your eloquent description of everything really helps us "understand" the car.
I do like this Sportage, especially its modern looks, but not sure if I like it more than the Tucson.
I am driving my fourth version of the Sportage and have been reading a lot of reviews about the Mk V (yeah I know KIA don't call it that, but old habits die hard) and this is the best review so far. I do like the looks of the new 2022 model but I couldn't believe that it could be much better than mine. However your review makes so much sense that I am reconsidering a change "up" to what could be my last car. I took a lot of good natured "ribbing" over my purchase of the "MkI" but you are so right, not only have their specs improved enormously but their "street cred" has as well. Thanks for this video report ... I have a feeling I am about to raid my pension once again. ( I do so miss that accent as well!)
What an amazing comment. Thank you, really appreciate it. I don't think you'll regret getting a new Sportage. All the best. Mark.
You're doin' great. Each generation of their vehicles gets better and better.
Mark is absolutely my favorite new car reviewer.
Thanks mate. 😁 Mark.
I bought my wife a 2.5L, gas-powered, 8-gear automatic. We are getting way over the 32-mile-per-gallon rated by the EPA!!! It's obvious that Hyundai/KIA is raising the bar, both in quality and reliability!!!...and we only paid $25 thou' (dollars) for it!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another of Mark's excellent reviews, surely right up there with the best on UA-cam... the likes of Rory, Henry, Harry, and the Savagegeese chaps. Kia are just on the verge of over-designing their new cars, not quite Honda Civic levels (way too much caffeine..) but they used have the perfect balance of sharp and subtle. Not so sure now? But in terms of brand improvement and reliability, they really are kicking the ass of many other manufacturers, or should be (hello VW...). In the future, one could imagine they'll only be Tesla and Kia/Hyundai...
Your usual unique 'tell it as it is' review Mark. Keep up the good work, man!
Best review I’ve seen of the Sportage. I did have a Qashqui on order until I saw the New Sportage it’s on another level spec wise. I’ve got the 4 on order.
Thanks Michelle. Hope you love your new car…I’m sure you will. 😁 Mark.
Your reviews keep getting better and better Mark.
Cat died?
I do like it, especially the green one, great review as always Mark
Great review. Nice to see you out from in front of that green screen for a change. You're doing great.
You'll fit a carton of Um Bongo - best line so far of 2022 I'd say 😅
Liked the review. Ordered a GT Line S.
Driving the HEV at the moment getting 49.6 MPG so well happy
So is the new Sportage better choice than Tuscon? Does it really worth the price difference?
Just pulled the trigger on a 3. (Launch Edition) will be my 3rd Kia Sportage
excellent review . test drove one yesterday , the HEV .. very quick car I thought
Can’t wait to replace my current Sportage for this
Great review Mark. Did you manage to test the Harman Kardon?if so what's your opinion compared to the ford and qashqai systems?many thanks
Hi Mark. Great video review as always. Quick question, you look like you're fairly tall and I was wondering what the leg support is like in the sportage? I've read bad things. I'm 6'4"and always struggle with leg support if seats are too shallow. Cheers mate 👍
Hello Daniel. I'm 6'4" too but for some reason I never seem to have an issue with leg support - always have seats as low and flat as possible. Poor pedal placement tends to bother me most - if they're too close. I don't think you'll struggle with the Sportage though. Seats and general ergonomics are great, proper VW-standard stuff. Which wasn't always the case in Kias. Hope that helps. Let me know how you get on... :-D Mark.
@@vanaramauk hi Mark. Thanks for getting back to me. Much appreciated. I might just do a test drive over next month or so.
I’m torn between GT line and a 3.
I need to see how the 4.2” cluster display looks in the GT Line as love this new dash but won’t be the same if it’s small on the GT line.
I agree. I cant decide. You loose heated seats and steering wheel in the GT but gain the sportier styling
Yep I've got the same dilemma too, I prefer the exterior of the GT line especially in red or green but the 3 gets heated seats an full dual 12.3 inch displays but doesn't get the sporty steering wheel🤔 hard choice money wise I wouldn't go higher than GT line or the 3 and I be happy with the 1.6turbo petrol in manual 👌great looking car 👌👌👌👍
@@johnwhite2143 agreed I was the same but managed to get some pics of the interior of the 3 and GT line and prefer the GT line for the sporty look and exterior.
It still has the dual dash but the speedometer is slightly different to the 3.
Have you seen pics of them?
@@mattlawton5977 no only seen the GT line s and the 3 but not the GT line only interior, think it's a case of either sporty exterior or get the 3 for heated seats an heated steering wheel lol🤔
@@johnwhite2143 exactly what I was thinking.
I was worried as seen a pic of the interior on the 2 and looked the dash in the current model but defo think the GT Line is spot on.
I’m not too fused about the heated seats but the auto on the gt line looks good.
Happy to send these pics for you to see if you know how to on here or send me an email address 👍
So, it’s perfect for an Um Bongo drink, on the way to the gynaecologist. Brilliant!
Another great vid Mark , but ( its not a big but ) you hardly ever talk about the gear change, drivers spend most of their time changing gear in a manual car and the clutch/gear stick and gear change is far more important than haptic feedback, (I can not lie, :)
Hey mate. Noted. You're right. I think that's because most manual gearbox setups are so good now that it ends up being en exercise in cliche, which I try to avoid (like the plague) :-D
FYI the change in the Sportage is like that ^^^. Light 7 lovely clutch feel (apart from a slightly high bite). M.
The long wheel base version looks much nicer but we don't get it in Europe. Thanks Kia,and thanks for not letting us have the Sorento X line or the Carnival and even the Telluride.
Brand snobbery is the only thing holding Kia back. Great review as usual. 👍
NOTHING is holding Kia Back!...they're KILLING IT!
They are not really being held back...they are selling these cars as fast as they can make them...
Great review. Subbed!
U know thats a seat tarraco not an ateca in your comparison. Small thing but may be thats why SEAT sacked you mark? Cant tell the models apart 😂 in all seriousness decent review
Brilliant review!
The panoramic roof means a 6" person is a touch tight in the back. Any taller and you're in trouble.
As I said to the dealer, I don't care, I won't be sitting in the back 😂
@Vanarama Which colour do you think looks the best?
I think it looks good in white tbh, with a black roof. 😀 Mark.
I always carry a carton of Um Bongo around. So this is good news 😬
I enjoyed watching the Video Review. GT Line will be the best selling Model
A lot of people don’t know about the basic GT line only having a 4.2” cluster display.
The 2 x 12.3” screens only start on the 3
@@mattlawton5977 I cant find a photo to compare them anywhere
@@JoshuaShawMusic I’ve managed to get some pics from a garage down south.
Going for the GT Line as still has the all in one dash just slightly diff display
@@mattlawton5977 Oh really amazing. I think im going to pull the trigger on the GT as well. Is there any way I can see the pics you've seen?
@@JoshuaShawMusic I don’t think I can add them here. Leave your email address and I can share if you want?
You to remember buy a merc or beamer for 41k you get less tech to
Is that silver trim at the front at the start of the video not straight? 🤨
Kia 👍
Hello, how is the soundproofing inside the car with the panoramic roof?
Hey, it’s good. Didn’t notice any noise issues with the roof. M.
Very nice car!!! But I have already the 5years Renault megane...!!!
how tall is this guy?
This guy is 6’4” 😁
Very informative. Having reviewed both recently, if you had the option of a hybrid Sportage or an EV6 which would you go for?
Hey Gordon. I don’t really like hybrids tbh, but even if I did I’d take the EV6. It’s brilliant that thing. I think the best Sportage on balance is a petrol GT Line, or the higher power diesel if you’re doing big miles. Don’t need any more than that. Cheers, M. 😁
I’ve just tried the hybrid petrol Sportage, and it’s very good, but was more interested in the plug-in. As it only has a 13.8kWh battery pack, and we will tow a small caravan it’s not going to run on the battery for long - maybe 20-25 miles at best, and with the impact of the extra battery weight most of the time. Looks like it’s going to have to be the EV6 😊! Already on order for April delivery 🤞! Thanks for your input Mark and for your refreshing presentational style. Cheers 👍
Exceeds expectations? Not when it's £30k to £41k!
Brill review ,I prefer your comedy than the noise coming from the engine.
Those pants!!! Lol
Trouser legs like your name, eh? 😁
Kia is going to eat Audi/VW's lunch with cars like these
I give my approval , as it beats Z Germans at their game.
residual values are so so on Koreans still, but they are starting to appreciate especially for 2nd hand buyers cause You are buying the car still under warranty after 3-4 years, while Z Germans start to fall apart and getting hit with repair costs of so called premium tax.
Nice looking SUV with the exception of that overstyled and frankly ugly front end.
it looks like it shrunk
Not as much as his jeans have
@@crystalmethking lol
Its way bigger
no mention if having to drive miles to clear the petrol particulate filter?
