Why doesn’t Kia offer the new Sportage with adaptive dampers in the UK like they do in other markets? I actually tweeted to the author of an Auto Express review on the new Sportage asking why they weren’t offered in the UK, and he said that - and I’m quoting directly here - “it's probably down to the UK market aiming for a certain price on the car and choosing the manufacturing variances accordingly.” So maybe that could be why?
Of course this is always the reason, if the market doesn’t demand this feature, it will not be available. KIA is a mainstream car manufacturer and they need to sell lots of vehicles to make money because their profit margin is lower than the luxury brands. As a result, they do market analysis on each country and determine what are the best options/trims/packages to offer. Compared to Porsche for example where the available options will be the same throughout the entire world because they can have very high profit margin

I bought the kia and find it quiet. This review is on a car fitted with winter tyres and they are loud usually. Also tested on German motorway, which is fine really noisy : I travel every year from the uK to poland (through France, Belgium and Netherlands) and German motorways are the worst ( not even talking about construction zones every 20km, lol)
Why does the US not have the new one yet? But also look at all the rear features this thing has. This is why people are not looking at traditional car bodies for their next car asuch anymore. The automakers put a lot more effort into practical features in their CUVs!
Fantastic review, thank you Thomas! I have to say, the 'broken design' in the back looks much better with the two-tone scheme where the upper part is blacked out, alongside the rooftop all the way to the A-pillar. Shame they gave you the most boring color for the outside too, looks gorgeous in the green, blue and the moon grey.
Really wish these car youtube videos would have an actual idea. This isnt the GT line, this is the GT Line S. Totally different, higher spec and much more costly.

We can at this moment only review Kia vehicles we can get over the dealer, because Kia Germany refuses to work with us because we speak English. We are always trying to find other solutions for you guys however, working on it.

They make some good looking cars but this is not one of them. Overuse of common automobile tropes to look expensive but is really cheap like rear chrome lip and piano black everywhere
Thomas you are right about the steering feel. Horrible. Gives no confidence at all at Highway Speeds. Just no. Rest of the car had a lot to admire. But the steering. Just no for me.
Saw it in the saloon. Awful plastics inside. Great trunk space. Interior is tight. The price is too high. 45000E for a hybrid. The dashboard is nice. Consumption is terrible for a MHEV. I would not dare buy it. Bye Kia, best of luck.
@@george0t As the cheaper option- the Toyota Corolla Cross. Coming this fall. The other more expensive option- the RAV4 (the hybrid is about 40000 Euros, and it gets around 40 mpg (5L /100km).
@@CROMA1927 I found the previous gen RAV4 kind of disappointing, especially on ride comfort and cabin feel. Have you checked out the Mazda CX-5 or the Peugeot 3008?
@@george0t RAV4 currently is the best car in this class. Mazdas are very fuel inefficient and underpowered. You get around 25mpg (8.5L/100km), and the acceleration is laughable for such a vehicle (11secs 0-100kmh). Toyota is my choice.
I had mine for a week but only did 140miles in small journeys (max 5 miles at a time) and achieved 42mpg, which translates to 6.7l/100km so I'm happy with that. Gt line S auto, 1.6l turbo hybrid.
Ah, Kia, why oh why. Rightly pointed out - the "design break" is awful. The use of chrome on the outside is also an Asian-origin giveaway of sorts. Moreover, in Europe, larger SUVs sell best and Kia decides to offer a SWB version of the Sportage.... In my opinion, since it's shorter, the C-pillar section looks unfinished or finished hastily. Really disappointed with it... Sorry, hard pass from me. Kia can do so much better, just look at the amazing EV6! Now I have to look elsewhere for my new car..

Forget Mazda. Drove them both. Kia is 2-3 times quieter and more comfortable...eve more responsive. Mazda has a very noisy engine.
I have the HEV and my fuel consumption is 6.3 l/100km.
