Hi Pete, based on your review I went and had a test drive. I was so impressed I ordered a GTLine S HEV in lunar silver. One thing worth mentioning my wife is of limited mobility and found the KIA very easy to get in and out of. Keep up the good work 👍👍👍
@@davel9359 I’ve just checked again and despite being hybrid the tax is £560 (£245 for three first year, which the garage paid). The extortionate road tax is based on the car’s list price. I paid less than the list price, but that makes no difference. I decided to bite the bullet anyway. Our flame blue GT Line S HEV arrived last week and it’s gorgeous.
@@veratibbs7361 Glad you like it. They hadn’t quite been launched when I bought the Tucson and we were close to the end of our contract, otherwise I’d have got one. We have the Ultimate HEV and it was obviously a bit cheaper then, so we didn’t cop for extra tax. I think a new Sportage will be a bit too much this time round as we want to escape finance. Considering a Niro instead.
I’ve just bought a 9year old Lexus CT200h Self charging hybrid. It’s got the cvt gearbox and I can easily get 54mpg with 84,000 on the clock. This Kia looks awesome 😎
I've had mine (HEV 3) for a couple of months now and done just over 1200mls, mainly on motorway. The consumption shows a healthy 50-55mpg on the motorway and around 40-42mpg in town (I'm not ma very fast driver, I enjoy the car very much so don't rush around often and always drive in Eco mode). It is pretty fast when I put my foot down if I need to get out of trouble, however the revving drives me mad, I honestly thought that there might be something wrong with the gearbox but now seeing your review I realise it's something I have to live with. Doesn't happen very often that I notice it, it's just something I could do without. Other than that, I am exceptionally pleased that I went for this Kia after researching different makes for around 6 months - Very luxurious inside, lots of space front and back, great look with the large screens, easy to use and manouvre. The mid range is perfect if you're after something a bit extra but without the hefty price tag.
When a truck took me and my MK1 Hot rod Golf, which I had for 26 years, out,I bought a little Kia Picanto Smart.Has everything you need and looks really good in gunmetal grey.Take care.
I used to hate The new Sportage at first because I thought the design was overkill. But then I grew to like it very much. i’ve got a brochure of it and I’ve even tried to get a picture of it which I succeeded in after several failed attempts. I will admit I do like the old Sportage more but this new one is growing on me a lot. 😎
Very honest review as per usual Ped. Great testimony to the Kia brand, “they are up there with the BMW and Mercedes” After driving about 500k miles with ZF autos, it is hard to adapt to anything else, although I did have sojourn with a Merc auto for 93k for a couple of years. I am really getting into Kia in a big way, need to run out the PCP on my Jaguar E Pace diesel first though 😎
Really like the new sportage my wife had the last one 1.6t and that was doing 34mpg average so 42mpg is very good I think I just got the new proceed GT instead of the sportage as its just more my sort of car but there is no denying kia r making good looking cars at the moment 👍

It amazes me that BMW, Mercedes, VW and the like cannot offer at least 5 year warranties on their products. They must have a lot of warranty claims already ??? I personally have run several BMW’s and a Merc up to 100k in 3 years, with only basic servicing and tyre changes required !

The Kia factory in Slovakia where the sportage is built for EUROPE is having major problems and it's not because they can't build enough because of demand, it's because the factory are having problems getting material to build them in the first place, the factory assembly line is on slow Kia are not even telling there dealers when to expect cars that have been order months ago. We ordered and paid a deposit for the new sportage back in October 2021 and where told it would be delivered by the end of January 2022 This is now the 20th of April and still no sportage. The Kia dealer have know clue when the car will arrive because Kia are not updating the dealers on sportage orders.
Brexit, perhaps? We were at our Kia dealer yesterday (Sofia, Bulgaria), and they advised cars ordered in Feb were already on the lot (we saw them and checked the specks). That is for the 230hp Hybrid only though, not a single plug-in has arrived yet, the pure or mild hybrid petrols come in occasionally. Couple of months ago our personal dealer that sold us the last gen we still drive showed us about 5-6-7 cars ordered by the dealer that were already in production (so expected in 2-3-4 months) and have not been “booked” by anyone, so we could reserve any of them if we wanted. Or maybe it’s to do with the UK market, as your trim levels are different, I know you also don’t get the adaptive suspension, etc. Interesting…
Ordered a hyundai kona hybrid late January 2022, the leasing company sent me all the information today fro. arriving at the port to when it will be with the dealership .. they do have access to this information
Hi Peter Hope you are well my mate, and you had a lovely time away with Mrs Ped great review mate lovely car My wife had the model before that one and we both love it great speck and I was very surprised how comfortable it was to drive catch up soon mate
Hello, thank you for the video. I am looking at buying either Sportage or Tucson, and so far it seems ( after watching several videos ) that Kia has a better interior, but Tucson feels a bit better on the road. Would you agree, or you would have another opinion? :)
Get mine in August why did I buy it well I have a 6 year old Sportage one word amazing no two words amazing. 6years 137000 kms and not a single problem and I still love the car I am only changing because it is a diesel and in another 12 months it will be worth a lot less. And another thing in 6 years of driving my car is worth to Kia half what I paid for it. So my car has depreciated by 2000 euros a year to put that into perspective. I bought a Renault and in 18 months you wont believe this it lost 15000 pounds because I got a motability car so it had to go. I got a Vauxhall another 3 years on which spent more time in the garage than on the road I spent so much time in the waiting room at Christmas I was invited to the staff do. I will admit I look after the Kia it has an annual check up I change the oils and filter before it says I should and make sure I have good tyres. Oh! and I always buy the tyres it came with from new. When my old Kia is left at the garage and I drive off in the new Kia I will shed a tear and salute her and hope she gets a good home. She did everything it said on the can and more.
Personally think these look great, and could be genuinely tempted come the time the HRV needs to be moved on. It certainly would do all I need from it 👍🏻
Currently have the previous generation, only faults is the notchy steering rack, needs its 3rd one after 6 years and 32,000 miles. Hopefully they changed them on the new model because goes car shopping very soon
One thing I don't understand is that every UA-camr out there, doesn't seem to understand that Kia cars only bong to tell you that your seat belt isn't fastened lol I found this out after several Months to be fair of owning the amazing Stinger 😁
Thanks for the great review, it would be great if you can get the new Sportage as a long term trial. Have a GT-line S PHEV on order due soon, can't wait.
You mention the BiK tax, the 1 thing i would say is the PHEV is alot less than the SC HEV models, the PHEV versions are about 12% the SC HEV option would be about 28% i think, so in terms of money, its close to £100 a month difference. I'm currently looking at the kia sportage/hyundai tuscon as a my next car, this is something i'm taking into consideration, as that difference in monthly payments would almost be the cost of my fuel each month. I'm not a company car driver, this is through my work salary sacrifice. I just watched you Tuscon SC HEV video, i'm with you on the buttons for gear selection, i prefer the Kia's rotory control system. 1 issue i find is to use the left hand buttons on the infotainment and fan control, i have to lean over a little more than i would like, where the tuscon possible is a little closer so i didnt feel i was leaning over. 32 week waiting time to get 1 through work is something i would also have to contend with.
This SUV craze has to end some time - but not yet I guess. I'll give Kia credit where it's due - they're cranking out some well equipped cars these days, but are definintely moving up the food chain in price to mid/upper range (same as Hyundai). I might be one of the few who doesn't like the new look back end on this and the EV6 though - it just doesn't do it for me.
Great car, ordered mine in early Feb, gtline s hybrid, was told be around 8 weeks so should have had it by April, now they're telling me could be November, very disappointed but will wait and am still excited.
@@t12511 I have since had an update and they said it will be arriving on 13th July, they never contacted me though I had to contact them and they were like yes we got a date for your car now. Hopefully it will arrive on time now i got an actual date
The last model diesel does 60mpg easily, 65mpg on a run. Cars were doing 40mpg in the 80’s. Audi A1’s did 80mpg in the 90’s! There’s no excuses, these things simply have several hundred kilos of stuff you’ll use one (and are made of plastic- perfect for landfill). If the car industry cared 1% about the environment and CO2 then they’re going the wrong way. Shame really. And the base model at nearly £30k??? The industry has nearly converted everyone to PFP and life-long borrowing. They want to be able to call the shots when you change and to what. They don’t like it that you can chose what you buy, from whom and when. They’re assimilation is almost complete.
I bet you're a "glass half empty" kind of person. Cheer up a bit! Anyway, Audi didn't have the A1 in the '90s. I think you mean the frugal A2, which came out around 2000. Also, keep in mind that cars these days are considerably bigger, heavier and more powerful.
Hi Sir Pete! Or should I say master Pete lol 😆 very cool video. The difference in how you say sportage and how we say it here in the USA 🇺🇸 is probably the first time ever I’ve been like nope that not how ya say that lol! I’m impressed with the Kia seltos and sorento i believe look better then the sportage. But as aways Sir Pete fantastic video and thanks for the laugh.
Hi I am just watching the video you made of the KIA sportage again about a year ago as I remember you mentioning the BMW IX1 that you had tested I have in June 2023 purchased a BMW X1 and have had nothing but trouble with the voice recognition system constantly not working or even the microphone button on the steering wheel not functioning correctly I have had the car back in the BMW garage in Glasgow 10 times since buying it in June even giving them it recently for 16 days while I went on holiday only to find that it has not been fixed as I now have rejected the car and it only has 950 miles on it I was wondering if you had experienced any similar issues when you were driving the IX1 I would be grateful if you would kindly contact me back about this matter Cheers George McKenna

@@PetrolPed great road to test on, I've used it to test cars out on too before buying. Appreciate the way you test your vehicles - dogs and bikes are a good choice 🙂
I think Kia and Hyundai have sorted the specs and refinement now to compete with the German brands. My concern is will they happily do 20k to 30k miles per year and still feel premium quality? Would be interesting to know.
Still waiting for my 3 to be delivered. Supposedly early June. However their trims and what you get are all out of whack. if you want the 2 big 12" screens then you the lowest spec is the Sportage 3. The GT Line comes with the 12inc media and 4" for the driver. The electric boot is ONLY available on the top spec model. No others. Their colour schemes are different depending on the trim so the GT line comes with a completely different set of colours to choose from than the 2 and 3 as well.
The Sportage looks like a brilliant car and my goodness the amount of equipment on board is very impressive. The brand is everywhere.
That's because he has the trim level wrong, he has the top spec GT line S
The ac screen thingy is probably the best compromise between full on onscreen and traditional dials. Love it

The Kia factory in Slovakia where the sportage is built for EUROPE is having major problems and it's not because they can't build enough because of demand, it's because the factory are having problems getting material to build them in the first place, the factory assembly line is on slow
Kia are not even telling there dealers when to expect cars that have been order months ago.
We ordered and paid a deposit for the new sportage back in October 2021 and where told it would be delivered by the end of January 2022
This is now the 20th of April and still no sportage.
@@ffsolutions9442NO not Brexit. The car (petrol 1.6 mhev automatic in deluxe white) was ordered in Ireland.
That's shocking mate
Ordered a hyundai kona hybrid late January 2022, the leasing company sent me all the information today fro. arriving at the port to when it will be with the dealership .. they do have access to this information
@@MrNigelbell We order the Sportage 2 weeks ago, expecting delivery within the next 10 days or so.
Hi Peter
Hope you are well my mate, and you had a lovely time away with Mrs Ped great review mate lovely car
My wife had the model before that one and we both love it great speck and I was very surprised how comfortable it was to drive catch up soon mate
We had a great time thanks 👍
Honest review as usual Ped was that a 2 or 4 wheel drive Sportage? Seriously thinking of buying one of these probably a 2 wheel drive GT line S.
The sportage is more a family SUV the Kia Stinger is more their sporty driver. Not sure if you get the Stinger in UK but in Aus they sell quite well.
We sure do. It’s a brilliant car 👍
Nice video , thanks . Approximativaly , how many miles with a full tank ? Thanks
Not sure
Nice honest review as usual Peter Kia has really come on in the last few years👍👍👍🚘🚘🚘
It sure has 👍
If you get it with AWD it is quite sporty as you can take off and exit corners without wheelspin!
Hello, thank you for the video. I am looking at buying either Sportage or Tucson, and so far it seems ( after watching several videos ) that Kia has a better interior, but Tucson feels a bit better on the road. Would you agree, or you would have another opinion? :)
Just to add, you don't have a GT line there, it's the range topping GT line S. The badge states GT Line if it's an S or not (Work for Kia)
I picked that up too and yours is the only comment without a heart LOL. Guess you upset someone!
Just not got round to doing hearts yet 😜
Thanks Jon. My bad 😬
Great review Pete Skywalker. Kia are definitely making some good cars now, stylish too.
Sure are 👍
Get mine in August why did I buy it well I have a 6 year old Sportage one word amazing no two words amazing.
Enjoy 👍
Personally think these look great, and could be genuinely tempted come the time the HRV needs to be moved on.
It certainly would do all I need from it 👍🏻
The car is a GT line S because it has the sunroof and the power tailgate.
How come I’ve got an 8 speed gearbox ?
I’ve just ordered a PHEV GT Line S and have a very narrow walled drive, so that summon mode will be dead handy!
Currently have the previous generation, only faults is the notchy steering rack, needs its 3rd one after 6 years and 32,000 miles. Hopefully they changed them on the new model because goes car shopping very soon
This is the type of report I subscribed for. First rate.
Thanks Owen. More like this coming soon 👍
@@PetrolPed man, look at the time. I thought i was the only one about this early.
I’ve been up since 0400 and just about to board a flight to Italy 🇮🇹
@@PetrolPed Enjoy. I'm looking forward to travelling again. Tenerife in two weeks time. Can't wait.
One thing I don't understand is that every UA-camr out there, doesn't seem to understand that Kia cars only bong to tell you that your seat belt isn't fastened lol
I found this out after several Months to be fair of owning the amazing Stinger 😁
Good to see the ubiquitous piano black plastic trim is present and correct on this KIA 🙈
Great review as always. Not sure about the look of the front end on this one. Haven't seen one in the flesh yet so will reserve judgement.
Love love love that moving perk.
👍
👍
An interesting review on the KIA, keep up the good work on the channel 👍👍
Thanks. Will do 👍
That's a GT Line only? Looks like an S to me.
Thanks for the great review, it would be great if you can get the new Sportage as a long term trial. Have a GT-line S PHEV on order due soon, can't wait.
Would love that 👍
Take-away hook on the back of the seat. Nice.
😂😂😂
Hi Pete, love all your reviews. We are Kia supporters Sorento and Sportage and Nero hybrids. Hope you don’t have BADGES in your family personal cars
I thought that road looked familiar, the Chilgrove road has some lovely bends!!! on a bike.
Sure does 👍
Great review ped love the kia brand think they have come on so much since they started out and like you said have some really nice cars 💥👏👍🏼
Cheers Matt
32 week waiting time to get 1 through work is something i would also have to contend with.
what color is that ? In my country there is casa white (WD) and deluxe white (HW2) for sportage
Not sure. Sorry 😞
Have you seen the EV6 in person though? It looks very nice.
The new mobility car of choice 👀
Great car, ordered mine in early Feb, gtline s hybrid, was told be around 8 weeks so should have had it by April, now they're telling me could be November, very disappointed but will wait and am still excited.
It will be worth it 👍
We ordered ours November and still no Sportage dealer has no idea when we will get it
@@t12511 I have since had an update and they said it will be arriving on 13th July, they never contacted me though I had to contact them and they were like yes we got a date for your car now. Hopefully it will arrive on time now i got an actual date
I knew it Kia Sportage! Love the colour combo 😀
👍
@@TonyDelMonte...and you point is?
I love the KIA Sportarge I think that’s what I’m going to get next time I change my car in 2 years
Hi Sir Pete!
Sorry to hear that. I didn’t try the voice control option on that car I’m afraid 😢
@@PetrolPed thanks for the reply and I appreciate it I have just seen your reply maybe it’s something that the your contacts at BMW can throw some information your way. I am taking it back up to the dealership on 28th for the 11th time as a last attempt by BMW in Munich for allegedly another miracle update they say will fix the problem I suppose miracles happen 😂😂 so I will let you know if it happens. Thanks again and keep on making the videos very informative.
Hi Ped
You have to hand it to Kia for the way they have challenged the “establishment” and sales figures show how successful they have been. Like it or not they have earned their current success.
This one doesn’t come with adaptive suspension does it? How’s the ride on the UK roads?
Just scratched the glossy black plastic bumper with the pedal, I was thinking before you put your bike in the back , the bumper is gonna get marked
Nope 👎
@@PetrolPed are you sure😁
Same gearing problem as with the XC60. Downshift when speeding takes an eternity.
At least they haven’t put them silly octo/hex shaped arches on it
How’s the weather? Kia’s EV is at a great price in the USA.
Not too bad 👍
Which is better? Kia Sportage or a Yoda Sketi?
Yeti is a guilty pleasure of mine. I love them 👍
Great video, that audio at the start was clipping some.
Can you do a review of the new transit custom ID like to know what you think of I and also I love transit videos
I’ve got a couple of transit videos on the channel 👍
Recognising the roads looks like the road from Lavant to Harting
Good spot 👌
@@PetrolPed great road to test on, I've used it to test cars out on too before buying. Appreciate the way you test your vehicles - dogs and bikes are a good choice 🙂
Nice,KIA coming on leaps & bounds
Let me ask, How is Kia Sportage as compared with Rav4 in terms of reliability and efficiency? Thank You
Very similar 👍
I think Kia and Hyundai have sorted the specs and refinement now to compete with the German brands. My concern is will they happily do 20k to 30k miles per year and still feel premium quality? Would be interesting to know.
Wife had a Tucson and I had an i30n performance - yes is the answer - our new Sportage arrives hopefully Jan/Feb time
Many of the German models wouldn't feel premium after 20-30k per year. My 640d certainly lost its sheen after doing 15k per year for 4 years.
Great informative video as usual well done
Thanks 🙏🏻
i can see why Kia is the new best selling brand. Wow..
Happy Easter!
And to you 👍
