THANK YOU FOR WATCHING AND BEING WONDERFUL!!!
Your content really helps me to have a different, healthier perspective when it comes to consumption. I really appreciate you.
i 100% concur
yay! I'm so glad, Jessica
Yes, exactly!
my sister's kids got a little "grocery store" playset for christmas a few years ago, made of wooden shelves, flowery curtains, and a little register, very retro. We gave them bags of herbal tea, dry beans, dry pasta, little packs of smarties etc for their store, and some change. And then they had us come in and shop with little baskets, it was really fun, and I realized that I still love playing pretend as much as I did as a child. Will definitely try this!
love!
It doesn't matter what I'm doing, every time I start watching your videos, I feel the need to go to my makeup corner and play with my own beautiful things. Thank you for the lovely videos, they always bring me so much joy ☺️❤️
YAY I love this
Same same!
I can't even begin to tell you how much your attitude towards makeup and consumption has been helping me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I realize now I have a lot of work to do when you put a name to some of the issues I've been dealing with around makeup hoarding.
I’d love to hear you talk more about perfumes! The scents you love to wear (and scent that don’t work with your body chemistry), perfumes you own, perfumes you used up, etc.
I feel like developing a look (or small palette of singles) based on the vibe of a current fave perfume is an excellent video idea! It would be a interesting exploration of the connection between the visual and emotional with scent…
I have also been really wanting the Kosas Concealer but when I told my husband about it he was like: you want a REVEALER concealer?? What does that even mean?!?? It reveals things?? 🤣🤣🤣 I had to take a step back and really think about the marketing and the hype around the product.
(I’m currently on a cosmetic no-buy for 2022 and it’s actually been successful so far!! I know it’s only January, yay small victories?)
Small victories count and often lead to huge ones! Congratulations!
It does count ! Congrats on that victory :)
"Spiritual identity connection" to an eyeshadow palette! Yes! I have this issue with greens. I don't usually wear green makeup, but I'm always drawn to it. Thank you for expressing that revelation! That was an absolute AH-HA! moment for me.
yay!
I have the same with turquoise/aqua colours. I get caught in this tropical fantasy of luxurious vacation on a dreamy island, crystal clear waters and salty wavy hair (which in my mind clearly equals shiny blue-green eyeshadow 🤡), and it took me a long time to realize that a) no makeup product will ever give me the feeling I have when being on beach holidays and b) I hardly ever wear this colour as it doesn’t suit my lifestyle and I find it very difficult to incorporate in a wearable way 😅 I keep one loose pigment from Inglot in this mermaid shade, it’s fun to swatch and play with but to be honest I probably didn’t wear it on my eyes for like 3 years.
This was fun! Btw, if you become genuinely interested in trying the Kosas concealer at some point in the future, they sell samples on their actual website. Throwing this out there because I think it's fantastic and prevents waste, and more companies should do it!
thanks for letting us know! i have been wanting to try it, too.
@@mus1quenonst0p Yeah! Then there's no need to go into Sephora!
@@MS-yg6gh a huge help, for sure :)
Yeah, I am pretty fair - I might be fairer than Hannah - and the lightest shade was too dark. I feel like it looks lighter online, so samples are a good idea!
Ur so smart Hannah! What's cheering me up right now is binge watching Ugly Betty and learning more vegan recipes after finally buying a blender. Not that anyone asked lol
I love this for you, a functional blender is an excellent tool to have in the kit
We are all interested in things that cheer one up! Congrats for learning all that new deliciousness and for the blender
YAY Jas00n I'm so happy for you. There's nothing like a blender.
Just wait until I get a crockpot 😛
@@jas000n can I suggest an Instant Pot instead of a crock pot because it can be a crock pot and a pressure cooker and can sauté too? I like that I can make the cooking time be long or short depending on my needs.
Looks like someone stepped out of their comfort zone and is wearing their custom-made, Victorian dried rose coloured palette, yay!
Eyeshadow that you can see on the thumbnail! It's so great.
That’s Histrionic Rose, if you please 😛
:)
This is amazing. I frequently put stuff in my cart at Sephora and Ulta, and then just leave it in there and see if the want lessens. I also have a list going in my bullet journal of things I want. Both of these techniques help me not hit “buy now” or “purchase.” And eventually I either purchase or later, realize I don’t need it and remove it from cart. Also seeing the total at the bottom too is helpful, as makeup quickly adds up.
Love this idea in lieu of a ‘will I buy it?’ sort of video. On my first ever no-buy year (Day 26!) [all thanks to your videos!!] and I love seeing people shopping their stash and enjoying what they own. So inspiring and it’s keeping me going! Thanks Hannah! 🙏🏻♥️
Keep it up. I'm on a budget and I haven't broken it yet nor will I. It really is helping me think more critically about what makeup I want to buy and when. There was a palette I thought about getting in March and I saw the price and that didn't include shipping (which shipping is included in my budget) and I know the pans are bigger than I want and also that some of the shades I really don't want and that really was a great way to talk myself out of it. My budget goes for more than makeup and I want to be even smarter about what makeup I buy than I already am. I may roll over some of my budget for Black Friday if there is anything I may want to buy then. After your no-buy, you may want to consider the same thing as budget like Hannah did after her no-buy. You'll know what step you need to take for yourself next.
as someone who's been essentially on a very casual replacements-only no buy for years (almost without thinking about it) this is still some of my favorite content on youtube!
YAY Chelsea, congrats on your no-buy!!
Love this! I'm doing a clothing no buy this year so I'm going to try this same practice for clothes "shopping". Thank you Hannah!!
I swear it’s not just hype. That Kosas concealer is hands down the best concealer I have ever used. I likely won’t be switching for years to come!
I LOOOVE this!!! I would love to watch you actually shop and scroll through the website next time too! Like see what actually catches your eye and then how you think through and reason that it's not desperately necessary.
Histrionic Rose!
best first comment ever :)
I absolutely love this idea, and would definitely enjoy seeing it become a recurring theme on your channel! As you were talking about things you wanted, I just started thinking about the makeup I have that I haven't used or even touched in months-and now I want to shop my own little collection :)
Yes would love for you to do this seasonally! Or you know, when the mood strikes :)
This is the content I most want these days! I’m doing a six month (maybe longer) no buy and I’m loving loving shopping my stash ✨Doing it with you is making it even more fun!
yaaaay go Celia!
The quad’s color scheme reminds me loosely of Midnight Sun’s red and purple!
Rorange (red + orange) is also one of my favorite colors. It's so yummy!
RORANGE
I do this! I'm not doing a "no buy", but I have rules in place to help structure my spending. When I have the itch to buy something outside of my set terms, I go pretend shopping. Those add-to-cart endorphins are real! And it's really satisfying to the cart totals of how much I'm not spending. You and your channel helped me take it to the next level by introducing "dupe the vibes".
That shirt shopped for its "colour" is brilliant Hannah! Definitely will be adding this to my conscious consumerism toolkit 🎉💖💖 This is why I love shop my stash videos, its fun to see how things in our collection can feel new when we're inspired to use them bc of something else.
Your words are like poetry. So careful chosen, but naturally eloquent. I really enjoy your content.
You are very different in this UA-cam beauty community. Your content is unique. I love it!
I so understand wanting a color, almost yearning for it. And yes, what an epiphany to understand that you are needing that color energetically, almost spiritually, but not needing to buy the palette. I adore this video so much! I am on a journey to only keep the things I actually use and/or LOVE. We just need to remember what we already have! 💜💗❤️💜♥️
This is a great idea and video for so many reasons! It’s promoting financial restraint, enjoying what you already own, and analyzing the reason why you want to accumulate stuff. So glad to have found your channel!
I love how you can verbalize the thought process that some of us may experience when looking at make up. Love it and it reminds me of the path I'm in right now and it helps me to stay away from buying make up I don't need. 🙂👏
I love your thoughts on consumerism and how you “shop” your own stuff. Great content!
Love this! When I get the itch to buy something, makeup or otherwise, I write it on my “Things I Want to Spend Money On” list on my phone. If I think about it again, I move it to the top of the list. Most things fall to the bottom of the list and the urge to get them passes, but when I do want to actually buy something, I try to buy something toward the top of the list! I have a few makeup items on my list, but I’d rather spend on other things right now, so on my list they shall remain!
I just love your videos. So much more interesting than talking only about new products, appreciate you explaining your thought process on the great things you already have. I find these videos so grounding. Yes this was fun ❤️❤️❤️
The search for a "perfect" product seems to be a rabbit hole for beauty consumers (myself included). The bummer, especially if you're trying to be a conscious consumer, is the amount of waste created bc I've got similar products, which will likely expire before I'm able to use them up.
I've also taken to finding videos on products I own to remind myself of the hype I felt when I first became interested in it.
What a great idea! You are right about wanting makeup this time of year. For whatever reason I always want new makeup this time of year. This is a fun video
This is brilliant! I’m so glad you’re out there, advocating for a much more healthy relationship with makeup and stuff in general.
I love how you time these uploads perfectly for me to watch them before bed 👏
She also times them perfectly for me to watch as a rest after work!
The perspective you offer when it comes to our own personal collection versus the need to consume new products always astounds me. The originality of the content while not always reviewing new stuff is also impeccable. You keep coming up with new ideas and making it interesting to not only watch you, but inspire us to go back to what we own and fully enjoy it. I adore your channel. 💚
Love this kind of video (and all your content!). You put into words so many cycles/fantasies/thought processes I have when it comes to wanting and buying new products, and it’s been so illuminating and healing for me! Thank you!
so happy to hear this, Sarah, thank you!
I love the concept of this video, it definitely made me think about my own buying habits and that feeling of buying something new that soon becomes something old instead of using and appreciating what I have.
I LOVE this idea so much. First time viewer!💗💗glad this got recommended
I really liked both the idea and execution of this video! It's so much more satisfying to love what we already own because it's also a way to say "good job, past me" and an exercise in gratitude!
I love the idea of this video, I'm glad you had it and then you made it happen! Such a creative way to self reflect.
I loved this video!!!!❤️❤️❤️ your approach to makeup is so clever and it makes so much sense to me!!
Great Video!! I always get inspired from your content. I am on a low buy well more of a no buy this year. So I need to see stuff like this to help me on my journey. You are one of 2 UA-camrs that really made me want to do low/no buy. I was out of control with my spending and have been for years🤪 you guys made me realize what I was actually doing. I don’t need anything makeup wise at all because I have as much as some UA-cam mavens 🤔and I sure not an influencer. I don’t need clothes, shoes, bags and my jewelry collection is out of control as well as home decor. Thank you for telling the truth and helping me and so many like me. By this time next year I hope to have a new story to tell.
I love your videos! Since I discovered your channel, everytime I feel the urge of buying a new eyeshadow palette I try to dupe the colour story with my own palettes and I always get shocked of how similar they are, and when I start to use them more often I fall in love with them again. Thank you for your tips and advices, they're really helpful
I like the general concept of this video. I think looking at different ways to keep us inspired with our own make up is great. I think we enjoying playing and new 'games' are good fun and money saved from shopping could be life changing for some. Bravo!
I love this concept! I’ve always loved the „shop my stash“ type of videos, but this is a really nice take on the concept - packing the shopping urge by the root so to speak ;)
I want to thank you for being a very positive person in my life right now! I have more makeup than one person could use in a lifetime and I have been trying to use what I already have instead of running to the Sephora website and buying more!!! Then I found your channel and you easily became my favorite UA-camr!!! And you are helping me on my journey in using my own makeup!!! Thank you so much!!! Love and makeup!!! 💄💋❤️
What a fun way to enjoy the makeup you already have!
The pink looks so good! 💕
You are such a breath of fresh air!!💕💕
I love this idea and this exercise!! What a wonderful way to appreciate and find new love for the beautiful things I already have made space for. ❤
Love both the Patreon and this video! Great concept xx
this is my favorite topic of youtube video I have ever watched! Please keep making!!!
As others have stated, I enjoy this deeper level of thinking about the why. It has gotten me to do the same. Instead of a no buy I have a list called "Purchases made & all my feelings about them" Tracking date, was it an impuse or planned, category of spend, initial reaction of why and a place for long term reflection. Buying is so emotional, habitual and so many beautiful things out there.
Great video and red and pink together for the win!
absolutely love this video! thank you so much, it was such a joy to watch
Hannah, just want to stop by and say hi and let you know how big of an impact you've made on my life. Binge watching your old videos from your no-buy year to your year of less things to the most recent ones, I'm finally able to get to this head space I'm in right now. Of course this took me a long time and self reflection but I did get here. I recently went through my makeup collection and started selling and getting rid of tons of make up that's just there to add number, and I depoted palletes that I'm only keeping for certain shades. Now I have a system, palletes that I love and sparks loads of joy even when I just look at them and know that they're there and a collections of singles that I've been using to dupe the vibe of palettes that I want and would have bought without hesitation in the past. Thank you for showing me the way. Now not only makeups, my spending habit in general is taking a turn for the better. I have a great feeling about this journey that I just started.
This is absolutely my favorite kind of video that you do!
Self reflecting is key, as you demonstrated. Our need for new is a craving to get a sparkle of something.. but creativity is the actual spark. You are right.
Ok I'm going to do this! Such a great idea! K, gonna keep watching now!
I really love how much thought and perspective you put into your videos and what you talk about. There isn't enough of this in the beauty community right now. It feels, and has for years now to be superficial, vapid and materialistic.
I started doing something similar at the end of last year, because I realised that it's often the feeling of a certain product I want and not the product itself. So I rather shop my stash with pictures for reference than buy the new thing. But I'm also in funk - now that I got my highly desired PM palette last year there's nothing out there that gives me the same desire to own it. Not that this is a bad thing, but I also never felt this kind of satisfaction regarding makeup.
This is one of the best video ideas I’ve ever seen- as a frequent window shopper it’s a great reality check!!!
Thank you for this video, Hannah! I'm in the beggining of my no buy year, and it made me realize that my urges can be redirected to my own "store", made from the things that I already have! Thank you again ❤
Hi sweetie 🌹🥰
Yes yes and YES.. I love this so much, we all have a tendency to get similar Shade so this is amazing, shopping your own stuff is great, I always gets the fomo when I do see new things that I like, but when Im looking at my own things I do realize that I already have what I'm looking for, now I'm checking my own things before getting new things and it have helped me to look at makeup in a different way.. Thank you so much seeing your videos helps a lot. 🌹🥰👍
Big hugs from Stine from Denmark 🌹🥰💝
you are wicked smart. i love these kind of videos. i've been able to minimalize my spending so much. thank you!!
I love how you describe things, i learned like 5 new works since I subscribed to you yesterday. x
I would love to see this type of video again! So smart and I did it too after watching. Emptied out all the things in my “cart” after feeling satisfied by what I have currently!
Love this video so much! It helps me so much because I buy out of impulse many times and I already own too much makeup ! Great video as always ♥️♥️♥️
Love this video, I enjoyed watching while exploring my makeup collection.
I passionately enjoyed watching this video and would like this to be a series please tysm
Same
noted! :)
This idea of yours is brilliant! It has brought back excitement for things I already own. xx
I loved this video. So good to analyze the desire to buy vs. the "need"
LOVED this!
I love this style of shop my stash!!!
I love this video idea! Love your make up look end result esp the eye look!!!
loved this concept!
This is what I needed to hear..! Thank you
Oh Hannah, I totally get your taupe lip gloss fixation. Gray eyeshadow is it for me right now. Like 90s Hollywood gray shadow looks. I'd love to see you do a gray matte eye look on your channel 🤍🖤
Omg I'm the same with just wanting to own one "my colors". I've never heard anyone talk about it before and it made me feel less bad for never actually using the eyeshadows and opening my eyes so I don't do it anymore. Thanks Hannah! You never fail to dissapoint!
I'm so glad this resonates for you!
Love your beauty sensibility, frugality, and grammatical pet peeves. I fake shop Sephora online and get enough satisfaction simply in browsing. It’s a lesson many young people learn the hard way with dwindled bank accounts. Thanks for the reality check. I plan to make my teen watch your channel.
I just found you by accident... but I love your content!!! I committed yesterday to a no buy year. I have watched all of your no buy videos and feel so inspired.
hi HLP :) 1st time viewer here. im enjoying your camera presence & engagement style...very unique yet very familiar too. it's like we've all been old friends & we're chatting at your kitchen table talking about make up....& i looove that! also, money is tight for me atm. but even so, i've learned that brands would be more than happy to send you a sample or two of their cosmetics that might be calling your name but that are not currently speaking to your budget or to your wallet. sampling is a gr8 way to satisfy that (sometimes relentless) buyer's curiosity w/out having to dip into the grocery money or the big jar of change many of have sitting in our bedrooms. anyway, i look 4wrd to watching more of your content. hv a much blessed, joy filled day.
Wow this is an excellent video idea! Loved this! Definitely doing this next time I crave a shopping spree!
I love this. I add things that I think I might want to my favorites (wishlist) instead of my cart because if it’s in the cart they send me emails and notifications that I have something in my cart; but that doesn’t happen if it’s put onto my favorites list. Once it’s there I walk away. If I find myself coming back to it often then it might be a worthy purchase, but more often than not, I simply forget about it.
my no buy is going so well, bestie! my collection is half of what it was 2 years ago (done as sustainably as possible, not all trash), and it feels so good!
Hannah- thank you for putting out the most wonderful, positive and mindful content. 🥰
thank you, Lana!
Thank you for this fantastic idea!! I have all this type of things that I need to explore first before buying new thank you for the inspiration.
Gosh, this burnt magenta look is mesmerizing! I know you prefer your neutrals but Hannah you sure do know how to work with colour in the most lovely ways.
Love this so so much!!!!
Loved this video! It was very much needed. Doing a no buy this year, and I’ve already had a couple instances where I’ve really been wanting to break it. This is a nice reminder that chances are whatever I’m lusting for I already have in my collection. Would love to see you do this type of video regularly (monthly, quarterly, etc).
The majority of palettes that catch my eye I can dupe. It's people like Hannah that teach us to dupe out of our collection and I'm thankful for them (especially Hannah).
I love the idea of doing this regularly!
I have found that a lot of the jewel tones I am drawn to I have with my tops. I have gotten lucky and acquired some great new purple shadows when I had kind of thrown in the towel, but I do agree sometimes the colors I am drawn to wearing are better for me with clothing than with makeup.
A Shop my Stash Haul Brilliant idea , Hannah 💕
This was a fantastic experiment! You are starting a video theme others will be doing over the months to come. Good job🌸
Love your giddiness/enthusiasm in this one 💓
Love this idea!!!!! So fun. More of these would be delightful
Your skin looks SO GOOD
I love the colorful eye look!
Ooo regarding brown/taupey lip glosses, fenty hot chocolit gloss bomb heat is so nice looking. It’s sheer but lovely
This was so helpful and interesting! Thank you!
Hannah, I love this video, and all of your content! It reminds me take a breath, while drowning in a sea of new releases. It reminds me to not become overwhelmed by the sheer volume of products available; that makeup is fun, creative, and should remain that way. So thank you 💛
That being said, I would like to own a few more eyeshadows to play with. I own maybe 3 altogether, and none of them really work for my skin tone. Do you have any eyeshadow recommendations for building a collection/palette? What are your go to brands and/or formulas for the basics?
Hi Hannah! My schedule has been super off and I haven't been able to catch your videos right away so I haven't been leaving as many comments. I just wanted to let you know I how much I love your content and I'm still supporting you 100%!! Watching your channel grow every day makes me so happy. You're the best and you deserve all the success in the world!! Love you so much!! ❤️❤️❤️
thank you, Steph! I'm going through the SAME with my schedule, please never worry :) I appreciate the support and love so much!
