Cypress Creek should definitely have a limited hog hunt to thin the Piggy's out some they will start to spill out into the neighborhoods. Used to archery hunt a private lease west of the lake off 27 had meetings with biologist quite often shocking the damage large amounts of pigs can do!! They impact the turkeys the quail and also snakes and even young deer I bet in Cypress Creek Tim you do not see a whole lot of snakes? Saw a big boar hog one time on the edge of a cow pasture eating a indigo snake like a noodle!! Used to Target 60 to 80 lb sows to eat for myself and to give away everyone who ever got one was always so very happy to get it.
The hogs are so bad in Fl & Texas I think the Wildlife management should have several days a year to harvest and donate the meat to the needy. That is what my grandfather, father, uncles brother & I have always done in our community in Central Fl. Now I am proud that my son, nephew and cousins are continuing this family tradition.
I know here in Texas, the private land owners do numerous things to control the hog population, and they do eat the meat. Our Wildlife Management services, and biologists keep a close watch on as many places as they can to keep the animal populations healthy, and in proper balance for the 'ecosystem.' Alas, they can't be everywhere, and in Texas, there is a lot of ground to cover.
@@3Cathill Same here 3rd generation Central Florida. 3rd gen hunter as well. The problem is as I see it, is not enough private land owners to hunters ratio. We still hunter hogs year round, they multiply faster ten they can harvested.
Hi Tim how come in the area's that have hogs you don't seem to get Bears and Panthers? I would have thought that Hogs would be prime prey for Panthers.
That's part of the problem with hogs. They have no natural predators in these areas other than humans. They're way too big for coyotes and bobcats, black bear aren't really hard core hunters as they're omnivores, and the when it comes to the panthers...the smaller ones, sure, but the big ones would be a hard, dangerous kill even for a panther. Hogs have razor sharp tusks and can really inflict damage.
I have to ask now, because I've noticed it several times: How do the bobcats and pumas manage to often only be recorded *leaving the frame?* I mean, how's that even possible? The recording starts when something (with a heat-signature?) moves, right?
Tim Harrell No, it doesn't matter where they come in from. They must enter the frame first in order to leave, but quite often - there're many more channels like yours - we only see them leaving, not entering. I thought perhaps they jump in, so that if the cameras have a slight delay, we only see them leaving? Or is it possible that they move in so slowly - like when big cats hunt - that the motion detector isn't triggered? If you've watched a lot of these videos, you'll see this odd pattern. Only cougars and bobcats sometimes do this. Just like bears nearly always - and far more often than other wildlife - sniff and even fiddle with the camera.
Hello Tim. I always enjoy watching your videos, but I would like to know why you selected the owlzer as opposed to spypoint or covert cellular trail cam. I'm in the market, but keep going back and forth. Thanks for your input
