I found a brand new Volvik on the course last week. I decided to give it a try for the rest of the round (11th hole on). I literally had the best round that I’ve had in 3+ years by about 8 strokes. I ending up buying them in bulk at 1.20 each for 6 dozen. Everyone has different requirements but man, this one really felt good for me.
I was out of golf for around 16 years. This spring I pulled out the old Calloway woods and Ping Zing 2 irons, and bought a box of the Volvik Vivids in red. Now while I am a bit rusty, when I hit them good I can out drive my buddies hitting Calloway and Titleist balls. They fly long and true, and the nice bright color make them nearly impossible to lose. I love the feel of these, so they will be in my bag going forward.
I'm 44, been using the pink vivids for about 6 months now, and I'm really happy with them. To be honest, also happy with my spin into greens, a well struck 7 iron from about 150m only rolls out a couple of metres. My playing partner, 57, is also now using the red ones :) They do feel hard at 1st, but used to it now, and find that I get better feed back on where I mis hit a shot. I love these. I don’t know why, but I get a ton of spin around the green with these. I stopped using Pro Vs and go with these now. I don’t sacrifice and driver distance, but iron control is nuts.
Bought the red for the heck of it. I think they look amazing. I think they play better than what he is saying about them. Pretty satisfied and will probably buy more boxes soon.
I use the red and orange ones and love it. I am 71 years old and love the colours. My buddies hate the colours which is great when I out drive some of them. Nice distance ball.
At my golfclub they are selling these balls, I once bought them and fell in love with the what you call green one (I call them bright yellow). I Iike the colour a lot when I am standing behind them.
One buddy I was golfing with pulled one of the matte red ones out and I had never seen a ball like it before.. It was so hard to see the shape just staring at it yet so in your face and right there.. I loved it!
Yes, I have used them. For me they were long, so that was a big plus. I found them hard to see, yellow being the easiest. I don't get out much but have just bought a sleeve of Wilson duo yellow and will test them when I can. Anything that gives us confidence in golf is a plus.
Love the ORANGE Vivid. Being 60+, half blind and losing 50+ yards over the last 30 years I absolutely love these things. Besides golf is supposed to be fun and these things do make people smile. Keep up the good work, love your channel. Even though you talk funny
I use the Vivid green. I like the feel for me. The box says they are made for swing speeds between 70-90 mph. I also find it easy to see in the rough. Thank you for the review.
Cheers from the US. Volvik is pretty easy to get here in the states and I played a couple rounds with it. I like the Vivid ok. They didn't kill my performance. Played the bright red which was easy to spot on the fairway and rough ok, contrary to what you noticed. Don't know what you saw different, but anyways. Thanks for the review. Interested in the "pro" ball review. If it's good enough to get Bubba off the ProV1x then it must be good.
I think it's probably the sponsership money that's enough to get him off Titleist more than anything else... doubt they'll perform better, just will be around there.
Daley, Bubba went to Volvik and told them he wanted to use their ball. They were totally caught off guard and had to scramble to make him a pink ball... because that's what he wanted.
There are various manifestations of "color blindness". It affects males much more than females. A common one is "red-green" deficiency. I have it, and the problem is that orange and/or red colored objects are hard to see when they are on a green background. It's like the red blends in to the green rather than stands out from the green.
I am colorblind, red/green colorblindness to be exact, and the yellow is the best for me oddly enough. Since using these I've actually switched to the yellow Callaway Chrome Soft balls and they are the best all around ball. The distance actually surpassed the Titleist Pro V 1. If Callaway made these matte finished vivid balls I'd try them too. Thanks for the great content Rick!
16 Handicap, 19.4 index and found a blue Volvik on our course playing with my small league of 12 senior golfers. Played it and shot 2 birdies and one eagle. Better than that the best golfer in our group kept complaining that he couldn't see the blue ball and won't play with me again if I used it. I got into his head, mission accomplished. Bought a box of red Volvik. Glad you explained why they don't spin, I have noticed that.
I would play the Bright Green because I love the Volt color that Nike has and I wear the shoes and polo that match that. I like to be as colorful on the course as I can be, it takes the attention away from my game lol
I've been using these balls for the past 6 months, I have no other golf ball in my bag, they are the best ball I've ever played with. I use the orange ones. I play off 9. I'm going to try the new ones out call LONG LONG...love your videos Rick, keep up the good work mate.
Just used the orange ones this morning. Love them. Found a drive I hit in the edge of a corn field. If I was hitting a white ball that would be a lost kernel. ⛳️
I am 18 HC and I love the pink vivids and have been using them for a while now. Its great to be able to see my ball clearly again (as eyes not vas good as they used to be) from address, to strike, to flight, to finish, and they are also easy to find in the rough or see on the fairway from a distance.. The feel of strike whether woods, irons, wedges or putter is quite similar to Callaway ERC soft imo. I would definitely say my game has improved since i've been using them.
I'm all about color coordination when I play and the neon yellow ball matches my lunar control shoes. I would choose that color even if I'm a terrible golfer. Sometimes it's about having fun and not worrying about your score. Keep up the good work Rick!
I noticed this video had to be reasonably old because he’s talking about how big of a novelty the colors are and nowadays playing bold, matte colors is pretty popular and most of the ball companies are making some funky and creative designs.
Ben Madrigal lol I found a cart path scuffed orange one and threw it in a little pound by the tee box. I looked a minute later and a shit load of bluegill and baby large mouth were all circled around it hahah
These old farts definitely get stuck in their ways.. Even if it makes no sense.. That's like throwing your club in the water because it has a white shaft. 🤣
Hi Rick! Great review of the Volvik Balls. I have purchased some of the red balls at the Rhein-Golf Düsseldorf convention this year and really love to play them. Still have two of those but not playing them on a regular basis. I'm keeping them for 'good' days... Looking forward for the other review of the Volvik S3 & S4!
I played a Volvik Vivid Red and Green balls the day after Christmas. My swing is 80 to 90 so they traveled very straight...200 - 220 yds. Putted very well with them even though they had a dull feel.
I use them whenever I get any. Find the comments Rick has said to be spot on - long drives, but not so much spin. That suits me, as not up to spinning the ball yet ! Love them !
Hi Rick I've been playing with a fade for 20 years, 14 handicap. I brought a dozen yellow vivid balls and they have taken the fade out of my game. Straighter and longer off the tee. 12 over yesterday at Burford oxfordshire. Although it does feel strange aiming straight down the middle after years of aiming left to fade it in.
The vivid orange is the best ball I’ve used. I can easily track it in the air and then see it from miles away on the fairway. The number of balls I’ve lost has significantly reduced. However still hard to find when buried in long grass and doesn’t stop you from hitting it into water hazards. To be honest I’m not good enough to benefit from distance or feel. An expensive golf ball won’t magically turn me into Tiger Woods and not worth it when it only last a few holes before being lost.
Played with the Yellow on Executive 9 hole course and shot 5 over 35. Next day played regular course and lost all 3 Yellow, Orange and Green on water hazards. They felt hard but spun pretty well for me. Thanks again for another great review.
If you are going to use these balls, you have to go for the brightest of the lot. One of the orange or red for sure. If they go a mile it will help you to see where they finish! Another very interesting review Rick!
I love these balls. Playing the green and pink/red ones light up on the golf course. I recently used the canary yellow ones and their so easy to find it makes my round even more enjoyable
I have used these golf balls. I think they are great for the amateur golfer. It looks amazing in the air and it is hard to lose. When I play a golf course with deep rough this ball is essential.
When I play on my own I use the red ones. It's like playing with a live shot tracer and makes it super easy to follow/find the ball, which is the whole reason I buy them. Playing with friends I usually use the white ones. They're still bright but they're not obnoxiously so, especially on the greens, so as they don't cause any distraction to my playing partners
I recently started to follow your videos which I think are pretty awesome, love how you explain each video and how you share your honest opinion. Also I love to see the challenges with Pete and your other guests. Back to this video, I have been golfing for a combined time of 4 years on and off. I consider myself a beginner and I try to beat my personal best. As far as golf balls, I have been buying these the last year or so and I. Like how they look. Easy to find since they are so bright. Honestly I am not anywhere near your capacity to know how they affect my shots but now that I have seen this video, I’m gonna pay more attention as far as distance and back spin. All in all, great video, thank you for making these videos fun to watch and for your tips.
I have recently tried the green ones because I have a hrd time seeing the ball in the air on my drives when the background is bright. These are much easier to see because of the color but also because the matte finish does not reflect the light. They also make a delightful click when you hit them! What is nice is now other manufacturers are making matte finish crazy color golf balls.
I would definitely use the blue one and I think it would be perfect because I have the blue f7 3 wood and a blue bio cell driver. With this ball I could hit it 300+ and be called the blue bomber because would just bomb drives all day long haha.
I used these for the Scottish Mid-Am at Crail because it was windy and I wanted a low spinning ball. It depends on whether you can cope with the lack of feel off the wedges and putter but the ball spins a lot less and so goes longer and straighter especially in the wind! I found the bright green balls the best but won’t be using them again due to the lack of feel.
I am a 10 handicap and have been using these this past year. Good distance, soft feel, and great around the green - flop shots work fine. The negative comes with some of the colors, especially the blue. You can track it on the ascent, but on the descent, it gets lost. Everyone I have played with while using the blue says the same thing. I also like knowing which is "My" golf ball, and these come in handy...
Great Video once again. I tested out the Volvik Vivid in Black and that is a sight to see flying through the air. For me they help tremendously with keeping my driver spin numbers down which in turn leads to longer drives and lower scores. I am a high handicapper though so they are marketed to me.
Played the red last year in Destin. That thing looked like a video of Mars from the space station it was glowing so bright. Looked like the sun with some sunglasses on. I love playing bright balls and these are by far the brightest out there.
Played 18 with one last week. Was great all around, from tee to putting. Loved it. Was 3 bucks, seems like a good ball at that price, and its unique looking too.
White for sure, they just look so intense, I usually play pink balls for visibility, but those are just whole new level of bright. . I have only seen ones of these in person, one guy playing them in Iowa and he had the reds. Great review on them with the spin numbers shows a lot. Thanks for taking the time.
I use the Orange for spring time, fog is so thick out here in Nova Scotia you need anything to help you see your ball, performance wise it isn’t a pro v1 or a chrome soft but definitely playable, the only issue I find is they don’t bite the green very well
I play the yellow and the orange and love them...The best thing about the orange one is that I can watch it in the air no matter the weather...It's easy to follow.
Watched you for awhile now as I have progressed with my golf. Great Videos where you are able to relate to both experienced and inexperienced. Dropped 20 shots since watching haha
I like the yellow and green Volviks, because no one mistakes them for theirs. I've tried the Vivid, Vibe, & Crystal, and really like the Vibe, which is a 3-piece, urethane-covered ball. The Vivid, yes, is a bit of a novelty, but I think its performance is similar to others in its segment. You're right, Rick, the dimples are very hard to see! Glad to see you testing non-premium balls.
I always use the red and must say after watching this and other videos it has helped my drive distance by one using your techniques, two using this long driving ball and three having more fun with these expressive fun wacky balls
I so agree with mud! Tough to clean them it seems to stain the ball and it’s tough to get it’s colour back.nice of the tee though that’s about it.good videos mate.
A year ago I got both my boys and my wife into golf. We all of course started out with white balls but my oldest boy had made the comment about each of us having different colors. I found Chaos by Wilson in four colors and that is now our balls. Mason my oldest loves the lime green and little one Ian loves the yellow. Love the videos keep them coming!
I have just gotten the Volvik Vivid XT in Pink. The XT is a 4 piece ball, it's meant for a person with a driver swing of +100mph but has a really soft cover that gets really good spin. The XT is actually the ball sponsor for the World Long Drive Comp. I played today with them and it was awesome through the air, and easy to find.
I'm glad you reviewed these, I've seen them around but had no idea if they were decent or not. I like the long ball since that's the best part of my game. So I mean if you happen to have some extra yellow ones lying around, I wouldn't mind giving them a try. They look nice and loud and match my favorite golf shirt.
I know I'm 2 years late on this video, but I have just started to play golf for a bit of weekend fun. I bought a green Vivid ball as I often slice my tees and end up in the trees so I thought this would make it easier to find. My first tee off using it, smashed a massive slice and it went over the fence, bounced off a road and never to be seen again. 1 hit wonder! I went to have a look for it after our 9 hole round and no surprises, couldn't find it, although, managed to find another fellow lost Vivid ball only Red! Helped make my anger from my horrible slice shot go away.
I have played the red, green and orange in the Vivid line. You are absolutely correct that the S4 and S3 are in a completely different class and feel from the Vivid. It's just fun adding some color to the game!
I got 2 purple as a gift few months ago. Had not used them because purple tends to be hard to see in the grass BUT!! OMG..the distance off the tee was CRAZY far ! Fantastic for slower swing speeds, I’m hooked on the vivid now. The feel off the face of the driver is like hitting a hard metal ball, flies off! You have to try em to believe em 😎
I am a high spin player and these are awesome...I love the orange ones as they are so easy to see...there is a higher compression XT version out now but I get plenty of stop with them and they can be had for 24 dollars per dozen with some patience. I do want to hit the S3 and S4 but the vivid is a good ball and I am a 5 handicap.
I'd go for the orange one. I played orange Wilson balls in winter (because there was frost on the fairway and white balls were simply invisible) and I loved how good you could see them even when they were in the air.
I’d love to try out any of the colors. My favorite at first sight would be bright green, red, then blue. I bet the red is easiest to see on a cloudy or on a blue sky day. Blue might be difficult sometimes on blue sky days. That is when I lose sight of the ball the most when I lose it in the background of the sky. Thanks for the review.
These are lower spinning balls I agree, but if you are like me and have a tendency to have too much spin at times, these are fantastic. I tried one out today on the course and I think they are one of the longest hitting golf balls I have used (first drive with 3 wood was 279). Spin does seem a little bit lower, but I'm not complaining and they still seem to stop on the green just fine. In fact, I holed out a chip during my round from 31 yards with the Volvik to save a par. Can't complain about that. Downside is they are a bit pricey and the white version does seem to scuff the matte finish a bit easier than expected. Coloured versions probably wouldn't show marks as quickly.
I love Volvik. I've always been a pink color lover so Bubba has always been my go to. I absolutely love the s4 and vivid in pink. I get a few looks but nothing beats the ball flight of a Volvik!
I am a 21 handicap. I have been playing the white vivid for 2 weeks now. I have scored consistently lower than my handicap ( with 2 best rounds of 82 & 85). I believe the low spin rate off the driver was been a great benefit for me. Game is easier from the fairway than the rough. Just my thoughts on this ball.
I bought a box of the pink ones just for the heck of it. It's great fun when u can out drive your buddy's with a hot pink ball

I would definitely say my game
has improved since i've been using them.
The Long Drive tournament this year WAS sponsored by Volvik
I'm all about color coordination when I play and the neon yellow ball matches my lunar control shoes. I would choose that color even if I'm a terrible golfer. Sometimes it's about having fun and not worrying about your score. Keep up the good work Rick!
I got these specifically for the color, i love that vivid is making these! Love the colors
I noticed this video had to be reasonably old because he’s talking about how big of a novelty the colors are and nowadays playing bold, matte colors is pretty popular and most of the ball companies are making some funky and creative designs.
I whipped a red vivid in front of my grandfather and he threw it in a lake:/
Ben Madrigal lol I found a cart path scuffed orange one and threw it in a little pound by the tee box. I looked a minute later and a shit load of bluegill and baby large mouth were all circled around it hahah
Ben Madrigal 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 GOAT
Ben Madrigal I would like a red golf ball two
😂
These old farts definitely get stuck in their ways.. Even if it makes no sense.. That's like throwing your club in the water because it has a white shaft. 🤣
Hi Rick! Great review of the Volvik Balls. I have purchased some of the red balls at the Rhein-Golf Düsseldorf convention this year and really love to play them. Still have two of those but not playing them on a regular basis. I'm keeping them for 'good' days...
Looking forward for the other review of the Volvik S3 & S4!
I'd play the orange, no doubt get reports in the local area of low flying meteors
OHHH that's why Washington has a 300 % increase of meteorites, Donald Trump flying around town! :D
I played a Volvik Vivid Red and Green balls the day after Christmas. My swing is 80 to 90 so they traveled very straight...200 - 220 yds. Putted very well with them even though they had a dull feel.
For me it would have to the orange so I can find it in the deep rough, where I do spend a bit of time 😉
I use them whenever I get any. Find the comments Rick has said to be spot on - long drives, but not so much spin. That suits me, as not up to spinning the ball yet ! Love them !
The white ones might be awesome just because they look so crazy looking down on it but it is still the normal white color
Hi Rick
I've been playing with a fade for 20 years, 14 handicap.
I played the orange one and shot a 65 then I played the other 17 holes!
If you are going to use these balls, you have to go for the brightest of the lot. One of the orange or red for sure. If they go a mile it will help you to see where they finish! Another very interesting review Rick!
If I HAD to use one of those balls I would have to use white... at least I could convince people it was still a golf ball lol.
I love these balls. Playing the green and pink/red ones light up on the golf course. I recently used the canary yellow ones and their so easy to find it makes my round even more enjoyable
Love the great videos keep it up
I have used these golf balls. I think they are great for the amateur golfer. It looks amazing in the air and it is hard to lose. When I play a golf course with deep rough this ball is essential.
I would use pink because I am a lefty just like bubba Watson
When I play on my own I use the red ones. It's like playing with a live shot tracer and makes it super easy to follow/find the ball, which is the whole reason I buy them. Playing with friends I usually use the white ones. They're still bright but they're not obnoxiously so, especially on the greens, so as they don't cause any distraction to my playing partners
Notifications squad too Rickey boy
Pink just for the look on other players faces😂😂
You sound like my kind of partner...The guys give me crap all the time about my orange ones.
I'm really glad you reviews these balls I played with them and had the sam experience long drives no spin with the irons I used the bright yellow
Red cause they go faster...
You need some solid nerves rocking up to the first tee on a big society day. 🙈
I use the Pink ones weekly, and even taken them out on a Charity day, nothing said yet. Couple have asked how they go.
So bright even Stevie Wonder can see them!
I use the Orange for spring time, fog is so thick out here in Nova Scotia you need anything to help you see your ball, performance wise it isn’t a pro v1 or a chrome soft but definitely playable, the only issue I find is they don’t bite the green very well
I enjoy playing with these golf balls. I actually got my first hole in one with the bright green ball last year. Great video
I like using these when I golf with my brothers, we each use our favorite color red, green, blue, & yellow easy to distinguish them
I got 2 purple as a gift few months ago.
I absolutely love these it increases my distance and accuracy, they’re great 👍🏻
I am a high spin player and these are awesome...I love the orange ones as they are so easy to see...there is a higher compression XT version out now but I get plenty of stop with them and they can be had for 24 dollars per dozen with some patience.
Michael J. Burns II What’s the purpose of matte blue golf balls if they get lost so easy?
I’ve played them for a couple of years now and I have no complaints. They work very well for me.
I love Volvik. I've always been a pink color lover so Bubba has always been my go to. I absolutely love the s4 and vivid in pink. I get a few looks but nothing beats the ball flight of a Volvik!
Found two today, and played very well with them, which is why im here now. I planned to buy a dozen
