I play yellow because all of my friends play white so it's easy for me to find my ball and drive right up to it. Yellow is harder to find in the Fall though when the grass is less green and leaves on the ground.
I’ve got better than 20/20 vision and on overcast days I struggle to see a white ball in the sky but the yellow really stands out. Will definitely be picking up some yellow Pro V1s for cloudy days.
Yes, I have played all the colors. The best I have found is the bright red, but I prefer the matte finish, because I like a softer feel. My favorite to-date are the matte red Callaway Superhot Bold. They are the easiest to see in the air and on the fairway, and most definitely in the rough. Basically, unless I put it in the drink, or in a yard, it's almost impossible to lose. And that is why I play them, along with the fact that I love the feel off the club, and especially with my wedges. Thanks so much for all the brilliant content over the years; you're second-to-none, sir. :)
I have always liked the fluorescent yellow ball since I was a kid. Perhaps it was just to be different than everybody else. I am excited to see them making a comeback now.
I've been using yellow balls for three years and really like them. I find that I tend to focus on the ball more with the yellow balls. It's also to distinguish my yellow balls from my various playing partner's balls. The course that I play has lots of trees along the fairways and the yellow balls are definitely easier to find, whether its in the leaves or long grass.
I like yellow and will probably switch to them completely pretty soon. I think they’re going to get more popular over time with everyone staring at screens all day.
I’ve never played a yellow ball, and you are right it is the stigma of playing with it. This video has absolutely made me want to try the yellow ball in certain conditions to see if visibility does improve.
I do want a numbers vid. I watched a video on Snell balls. Mr. Snell mentioned how difficult it was to make a yellow ball. As well as up close the material coating seems completely different more on some companies than others.
I've been playing with Vision golf balls now for about 3 years. They have a yellow ball called the Super Yellow UV. It is eye-wateringly bright. Even brighter than that Titleist. I usually get half a dozen when I buy a gift pack from the company and hand them straight to my mate because I just can't play with them, even wearing sunglasses. I do however use their patterned balls, they are like the TruVis but have different patterns like flowers, spots and even a macaroon. Makes it real easy to find my ball and I've never had a problem with someone else thinking that it's theirs! Great test Mark, particularly enjoyed you talking with people on the course, really adds a lots of value to these tests in my opinion.
I play with yellow quite often, Glasses wearer and the yellow is far superior at spotting in flight and on the ground! Its all about contrast and absorbtion spectrum, White would reflect more as it reflects all colours =white , yellow has a slightly more absorbtion spectrum but more contrast against white blue or green
In Australia, the crows are a huge issue and for some reason love the yellow balls. I was playing them for a while and loved them for all the reasons you highlighted in the video, I found them much easier to see even on sunny days, and I could always tell which one was mine right away. Crows took 3 balls over 2 holes one day though, and that was the last time I used them.
You won't mind the yellow ball when you hit it into a fairway where a jillion, zillion, skillion seagulls spend the day hanging out leaving the entire place covered in white feathers!!!
I play Titleist DT TruSoft balls and definitely find the yellow balls easier to see, both in the air and on the ground. They are much better to see in flight in grey conditions and even in bright conditions down here in Oz I still find them easy to track through the air. One reason I like the TruSoft (apart from price) is that both the white and yellow versions are brighter than many other balls and with my dodgy eyes this helps me see them better than other balls. The only time I prefer to use the white version is in autumn when there are a lot of yellow leaves on the ground. Another reason I like using yellow balls is that in my social playing group some members are not too good at remembering what sort of ball they are playing on any particular hole and having something very distinctive helps avoid "accidents" :)
I'm used to following a yellow ball because of tennis. Playing the yellow and black truvis now and loving it. Really glad to see the yellow Pro Vs out now. I feel that's gonna blow the door wide open for golfers to try different colored balls. Go Bubba!
After all, any golf ball is hard to see when the course is covered with leaves. However, the yellow are always much easier to see as you approach your shot (when it is laying on the ground). As I said above, if your eyesight is good, then it is not that much different. If your eyesight is less good, then, yellow is way better. Under any conditions, yellow is better; sometimes a lot better! Because of tradition or whatever, guys pick white; but, yellow is much easier to see whether it is in the air or on the ground; no matter the condition.
Switched from white Taylormade project a's to yellow ones for the winter for a bit of fun. But really enjoying the yellow and thinking about keeping them going through the summer! Easier to see and find!
Mark I’m happiest when my balls look lovey! I’ve played White and red truvis for what we would class as “summer” golf and yellow and black truvis for winter. The yellow defiantly stands out more against the cold colours in winter, frosty ground, grey sky etc. It’s the colour juxtaposition between hard and sort, and truvis plays on that all the time. 👍🏻
I’m 52 yrs old and as my eye sight starts to deteriorate I find a coloured ball is easier to see in the air and a lot easier to find in the rough, since using them I definitely lose less balls, keep up the great course vlogs, love them
Hi mark my optician recommended yellow golf balls, however, she also recommended a brown uv reactive tint to my glasses. Now i never play golf without these glasses and i can see the ball way out to 250mtr. This lady is not only an optician but a golfer so really understands the vision requirements for the game. I was having problems putting and was using vary focal's she explained how it was very hard with this type of lens to see a straight line, so i just use the single lens. Almost like a club fitting don't go to spec savers and expect good golfing glasses. Go and see an optician who knows about the game of golf.
There's a reason why the yellow is so much more visible is because it's fluorescent. The dye/paint (Not sure what they use) color absorbs the light and gives it a glowy cast. I have some flourescent yellow ones too and do think the yellow looks slightly bigger. Maybe because they give off that slight cast in light? I have 20/15 eyes so I don't think it has to do with clarity of vision. So it must be some sort of optical illusion depending on one's vision since everyone sees colors differently. As a matter of fact, the illusion of being a bit bigger is a part of why Callaway made the Chromesoft Truvis markings. If you checked out one of their black/yellow Truvis, they would likely seem absolutely massive even though they are still the same size, lol! Edit: Oh, I forgot to mention, I'll likely go with the white as the premium balls rarely seem to be made in yellow and I like my spinny urethane. I think that is primarily why you'll see pros on TV play white. But if I'd get premium balls in yellow I'd be quite happy to play using them over white as I love that popping yellow color.
Can honestly say I’ve never thought of this before, will give it a go tomorrow when I play and alternate ball colour on each hole… if yellow works better for me I’m gonna stick with it… cheers for the idea brah👍🏻
I’ve used the yellow truvis the past couple of winters. Playing through the winter months in Scotland they stand out in frosty conditions. Always revert to a Pro V1 when the frost thaws. Will definitely be testing the yellow Pro V when they hit our pro shop.
I noticed Bubba made the switch to a yellow ball which sparked my interest. I’ve always enjoyed being a little bit different when it comes to golf equipment/accessories. The Lockey Army fever got the best of me a couple years ago and I’ve really enjoyed playing a Truvis (when the budget allows). I’m near sighted and struggle seeing the ball and I do believe the variations of colors help me see the flight path/landing point. Might have to give this yellow ball a go. Thank you for always keeping good discussions going. Cheers 🍻
Love the older gents... My dad, who passed recently, used yellow his last few seasons because he seen them better. I use both.. I have noticed that the yellow isn't always easier to find.
Love yellow balls. When everyone else is playing white! I agree with comment about dandelions! At certain time of the year there are soooo many yellow flowers on the course . Favourite ball of all time is the yellow tru-vis
White ball looks classier to me, better quality. Definitely an element of snobbery in there too. “Tour players use white, mainly, so I should!” I have used yellow balls in the off season on dull days and can see it much clearer. Never used one in the sun so I will be very interested to see your results. I would like to see you and Coach using yellow on a sunny tour vlog. Obviously coach will have to use the yellow Callaway as the Titleist ball won’t work with his Callaway clubs!🤣
I will be playing YELLOW this year. Tried them out a little last year and was very pleased with the results. I saw them much better on gray sky days and easier to find them in the rough. When hitting them off the tee, the novelty of hitting a different color ball after hitting a white ball for over 45 years was very helpful in making better contact. That might wear off this year, though.
I've tried all sorts of colours for balls... In winter and dark-ish conditions, the yellow is the unambiguous champion. Easy to see in the sky, on the fairway, even in the rough. When it's really sunny and the sun is rather oblique (evenings or early mornings) the yellow ball can disappear on the ground in one direction. Then you look back and again it pops out and you wonder why you didn't see it. The white balls are more "uniformly averagely visible". Never great, never really bad. Only real negative is that once dirty they're hard to spot on the fairway or rough, while the yellow balls stay just as visible when a little dirty.
My regular playing partner uses a yellow ball and I tend to stick with white. I can usually see both but find the yellow easier in the air on cloudy days and the white easier on clear, sunny days. On the grounds the yellow is really hard to spot in leaves in autumn and if there are any signifiant number of flowers around the ball. Those three guys you asked about golf balls were legends - get them singed up for a regular slot!!
Playing the Vice Pro Neon Lime at the moment: Visibly it may be too green (so not a great contrast from grass) but it does stand out quite well nonetheless. I think their white balls seem larger for some reason. The Neon Lime seems to discolour very quickly though and is mostly dark (the black underneath comes through the paint) after 3 rounds with the same ball. It was doing this after 9 holes too. The core is still impressive though after 3 rounds and was consistently flying further than a new Chrome soft (about 5-10 yards with my driver with no run)!
On a sunny day, the yellow ball shines (could be different pending on the manufacturer?) but I had heard on Golf Channel, a former PGA player say that the yellow material isn't as durable as the white... so there's been a "cheep" stigma around the yellow ball... however, since I play orange and yellow golf balls, I would say that the quality has improved over the last few years. It's preference, and I prefer an orange golf ball purely for visablity. Wish more companies would make those. (but not Volvik. They're rubbish :)
I just love the classic look of a clean, new white ball. However I could see the benefits of the yellow, especially in a British winter with permanent grey skies!
Great timing, was literally having this thought process having played in overcast conditions today and losing white ball against the sky on every drive.
So I love this conversation, I use the red and lime colors from vice golf because they do stand out better to me! I also like the fact that when I use the red no one confuses if it's my ball. But the different sizes portion is crazy to think about cause the colors look smaller than the white to me.... Great videos!! Love the conversation!!
I prefer to play with the Vice Pro + Neon Lime Ball. It is easy to track and I never have to guess if that is my ball. Plus it stands out a lot in the trees and low light.
I work as a Greenskeeper in Australia and our course has fairways the go dormant in winter and as a result they tend to 'whiten up'. Lots of our members play coloured balls through this time as they stand out significantly more.
I’ve used all the colors! And have asked every ball manufacture to make their best ball in a color! I’ve played truvis, yellow, orange, Matt red, pink. The yellow I don’t think is harder to see in sunlight but the Matt red is harder to see for sure, and my playing partner can’t see the red ball at all. I thought the easiest ball to see was the Volvik pink ball. It stands out in the trees, water, etc. and you don’t lose it in sunlight. It was super easy to spot, by far the best color. The color yellow makes a difference some companies have a faint yellow and looks horrible (Bridgestone) Nike had the best yellow with the volt and Callaway yellow is probably the best out there now. I can honestly say I score better with a yellow ball, the short game is better for me. I haven’t played Titleist ones. Thanks for video
I switched to Volvik Orange and saw my scores come down, but that could also have been due to increased focus on practice. I must say though that the orange ball has saved me a lost ball here and there in the rough, so that is worth a few strokes.
I play Callaway supersoft....I found some pink ones on clearance that I have been playing over the fall winter as my course doesn't do a great job with leaves(in their defense the have a billion trees) I feel those are sort easy to see
Mark as the older I got I noticed it was getting harder to follow the white ball that is why I went to a color ball yellow spring and summer and yellow or red in fall and winter. That is why I am glad Titleist came out with yellow Pro v1.
I scrolled through the comments for a little while and I must say I'm proud of you guys and gals. Not one "blue ball" comment was made. IF you have to ask, Google it.
I’ve just started using yellow Chrome Soft. Love them. So much easier to see in flight and in the fairways or rough. I’m in my 50s and my eyes run out at about 180 yards ball wise but less of an issue with these. I’m staying yellow 😃😃
I live in Australia and I wear production sun glasses and play prov1s I've just try the new yellow ones and definitely love them and find so much easier to see in almost all aspects except in dappled light on the ground
I'm all for it...except my course is surrounded by tall yellow native grass so that will count me out. If it you think it will help find balls, see them in flight etc then great use them well. If you can hear your ball land in the fairway or rough it probably won't matter much :)
Judging by already so many comments this is a very popular video/subject. I've always used white, but now will be giving the yellow a go . With deteriorating eyesight this could really help . If you can actually find the ball , surely that comes under shots gained. Thanks for your efforts.
I started playing the nike volt coloured balls mostly because our driving range runs alongside the 18th 600 yard par 5 and with loads of white range balls all over the darn place it is easy (especially now looking for balls is 3mins) to lose a ball in plain sight. Also slight prescription means white ball against cloud can be a pain so Yellow always. Also love putting with it but dont know why. Great vid!
Tried yellow for a while (half a season) and while definitely easier to track in cloudy/overcast conditions, I found they were harder to find against the grass when it was bright and sunny (as is typically the case here in the Rockies). The reflection of a bright, yellow sun off the blades of grass is remarkably similar to that of a yellow ball, making the ball harder to find, though only marginally more so than white. I find better deals on white, so I'm back to white. For pure overall visibility, orange is the best, but there's no orange ball that has the playing characteristics I like.
I have been using yellow balls for several years. They are much easier to see, especially if you hit into deep rough. I have lost a drive that that tricked off the fairway into the rough when using a white ball, but can find the yellow. You are right about the bright sun making the yellow more difficult to see, but not enough to switch back to white. I play with another senior with poor eyesight who uses an orange ball. It is even brighter than the yellow, but can’t get them in Titleist.
Have used both. The yellow is hard to see on the ground during sunny fall days. It tends to blend in with the leaves on the ground when the sun is out.
I use the yellow Snell in the fall and winter as they really stand out better. Keep in mind there are different yellow colors as well (the optic yellow is much brighter). The Truvis was created to improve vision and I remember Tom Watson saying it looked bigger and was easier for putting.
I am 55 and have always used a white ball but it’s a macho thing and the reason I say that is exactly as you said at the end it’s because better and younger players use them so we think we should too. Now to reality, I borrowed a yellow ball a few weeks ago and thought I’d give it a go and now I lose a whole lot less as I can see them 🤣 like you Mark I’m blind as a bat when it comes to golf balls but I can honestly say I’ll never go back to a white one as even in the semi rough it just pops out as it almost shouts “here I am” 😁😁
I agree with Mark, the yellow looks bigger. I also struggle to see my ball land at distance. Considering testing the AVX in yellow just to differentiate from ProV1. Might give the yellow a whirl this weekend!
Never used Yellow Balls. I do wear glasses but not when golfing and do have problems seeing white balls. After watching this think i'll have to have a go with Yellow. Great video. Never even thought about it before.
Absolutely love the Truvis yellow, and so do the crows in Australia. Got 3 dozen and lost 2 dozen to crows. I am short sighted and they are so much easier to see. Agree with everything Mark sees.
Agreed - crows in Australia love yellow balls. Yellow balls have a glow/fluorescence cover which then gives them a slight halo effect making them look bigger.
Funny timing: I put in an order for Vice Pro balls yesterday and they emailed me back saying they were out of stock but had yellows if I wanted to swap. I've always quite liked a yellow ball, so I went for it. Then this video comes out today.
Yellow for the dark grey winter days. Also when the ball picks up mud white is hard to spot, yellow stands out. Summer white all day long. Well done titleist for finally making a yellow pro v1. Strixon has been market leader for years.
Have used yellow since I started golf 5 years ago. It makes golf more enjoyable for me as I see more of the ball in flight and waste less time looking for the ball on the course. Also seeing the shot shape is important for me to give me an idea on how my swing is performing.
I’m partial to the white ball. Looks a little more traditional. I do like that higher quality ball are being made in yellow. All I remember growing up was that top flight and pinnacle were the only yellow ball makers. I never saw a titlelist ball in yellow until the last couple years. Thanks
I actually just changed from the pro v1 to the yellow/black truvis. I feel like I strike the truvis better in every situation (tee shots, iron shots, chipping), but it puts me off a little bit when I'm putting. I don't know if it's because I'm used to focusing on a white ball or what, but I feel like I hole more putts with a white ball. I continue to use the truvis and have just upped my putting practice with it so I feel more comfortable and confident putting with it. But it's MUCH easier to find and see
I played the volvik vivid in winter as it is easier to see and the distance was better in wet conditions to the prov1x. Different feel around the greens but you can adjust short game for conditions so do it for the ball as well
Gonna try yellow pro v tomorrow when I play I used to use yellow when I was a junior but as I became a better golfer u couldn't get titleist balata or professional in yellow so looking forward to try these.
I've played yellow in the past and enjoyed it honestly. I found that in sunny conditions, the yellow popped beautifully against the blue sky. I never found it any different, finding a yellow ball in the rough on a sunny or a cloudy day. I currently have three boxes of my preferred ball, Srixon Zstar XV in white, but I think the next box I buy when it comes time, will be yellow, just for the fun and experiment of it.
Played Yellow Z Star XV & Chrome Soft+ Truvis. Easy to see and the added bonus of picking out whose ball, of a 4ball is yours. “That’s mine, it’s the Yellow one”
I play white golfballs, mainly because slight tradition. Plus, if I recall previous rules of golf, the ball was to be white with no exceptions. Then they changed it after a few golfers or tournaments had their fun with local rules or exceptions. Most notable was Paula Creamer and her Pink Golf Ball.
I play yellow Z-Stars. Have 20/12 vision. I personally don't see a difference in size between yellow and white, but I like that when approaching a green I instantly know which ball is mine, because pretty much everyone else plays white. I do also find them easier to spot in the rough compared to white.
Something I will have to try on the course, I definitely prefer white but depending on course, light and weather conditions... Having hit a lot of yellow range balls in varying conditions, I can see where yellow might help and where it won't.
I will have no problem switching to a yellow ball. Like you, I have read and watched reviews and they all say that it’s more visible through the entire flight of the ball and easily seen landing. P.S, I’m going Portugal end of the month if you want an opinion on the ball against blue skies? 👍🏼
I had my eyes lazered a couple of years ago so my vision is spot on. I changed from Pro v1x to Srixon ad333 after 5 years due to the fact I found the pro v a dull white in comparison. Last summer I tried the same ball in yellow and found it easier to see in the sky and down the fairway, I also see it as a little bigger than the white 👍
YELLOW!! They are wondrously shiny and so easy to spot, even in dried out, or dormant Bermuda! Wish the ProV1 came in the same shade as the lovely NXT Yellow. ETA: where have I been?? The ProV1x in yellow!! Woo hoo!! But it's not as "perty" as the NXT, which has a bit of a neon sheen.
Good video, I'm short sighted and wear corrective lenses, I play white balls and I always lose sight of it when I hit a drive, this has given me something to think about i may buy some to try and see how I get on 👍
Doesnt it just make you feel great seeing the older boys out playing golf with their mates! I really hope i will be there in 20 years!
Good to see the Lockey Army (senior division) out in full force!
I play yellow because all of my friends play white so it's easy for me to find my ball and drive right up to it. Yellow is harder to find in the Fall though when the grass is less green and leaves on the ground.

I love the Srixon Z-Star yellow. Their yellow glows so bright.
That's what I've used, historically. I love Srixon's yellow.
Is the q star yellow different?
@@celestialcelica1590 the Q stars are a little duller yellow from the packs that ive played
@@AH_Soul Q-star has Spin-skin now, wich is what srixon calls their urethane cover
I am on my 4th round on the same Srixon Z Star (yellow). Hard to argue with the results.
I've been using yellow balls for three years and really like them. I find that I tend to focus on the ball more with the yellow balls. I use the brightest yellow ball I can find because they're much easier to see at dusk when you're racing to get in the last few holes before dark.
That was an awesome chat with those gents. I find tracking the yellow on grey days is easier in the sky. On sunny bright days, the white.
I like yellow and will probably switch to them completely pretty soon. I think they’re going to get more popular over time with everyone staring at screens all day.

Who else loved those old geezers 🤣legends of the game
Remember!! You, too, will become an old geezer one day. Treat us kindly.

Yellow balls are great...until you hit one into a field of dandelions.
The struggle is real.
Or dying grass
You won't mind the yellow ball when you hit it into a fairway where a jillion, zillion, skillion seagulls spend the day hanging out leaving the entire place covered in white feathers!!!
Funny, had the same problem on a course, had to switch it out!
I do not agree. I have been playing yellow balls for some years now, and the yellow is so artificial that there is no comparable color in nature.
I play Titleist DT TruSoft balls and definitely find the yellow balls easier to see, both in the air and on the ground. I always like seeing the reviews. Can you please do a review on the mizuno rb tour and rb tour x. And possibly compare it to the premium balls. Thanks
I'm used to following a yellow ball because of tennis. Playing the yellow and black truvis now and loving it. Really glad to see the yellow Pro Vs out now. I feel that's gonna blow the door wide open for golfers to try different colored balls. Go Bubba!
I like yellows. They stand out when playing with other people. I also do orange for provisional, so it stands out from the yellow.
I play the Yellow Titleist AVX ball and absolutely love it
I’ve played both..the yellow is easier to see at a distance. The yellow is tougher to see in the fall amongst the leaves.

Fully converted to yellow and black truvis. So much easier to find.
Great choice, I'm switching to them as well.
And fun to watch rolling during putts and spin on chip/pitch/flop shots.
Love your channel, my comeback after 25 year of no golf was successful, I have now passed the young me in hcp, your channel keeps me motivated 👍🏻
Playing Srixon Z STAR beacuse of yellow! Love Yellow!
I’m 52 yrs old and as my eye sight starts to deteriorate I find a coloured ball is easier to see in the air and a lot easier to find in the rough, since using them I definitely lose less balls, keep up the great course vlogs, love them
Much prefer yellow balls but in autumn with the fallen leaves it can be difficult to see.
Hi mark my optician recommended yellow golf balls, however, she also recommended a brown uv reactive tint to my glasses. I don't hit it far enough to lose sight lol.
LOL
I’m with you

I've got dozens of optic yellow for this spring but actually prefer orange!
Can honestly say I’ve never thought of this before, will give it a go tomorrow when I play and alternate ball colour on each hole… if yellow works better for me I’m gonna stick with it… cheers for the idea brah👍🏻
Yellow Chrome Soft, better days I play Truvis 🤓
I’ve used the yellow truvis the past couple of winters. Playing through the winter months in Scotland they stand out in frosty conditions. Always revert to a Pro V1 when the frost thaws. Will definitely be testing the yellow Pro V when they hit our pro shop.
Have you ever done a colour blind test ? I'm colour blind and can see a yellow ball alot better
Me too. I suspect colour blind people pick up the contrast better with yellow.
Cheers 🍻
Only up to 1:30 minutes in, worried that Coach will be playing with your balls!
Favourite ball of all time is the yellow tru-vis
i used a yellow Srixon z star in Portugal and they were awesome definitely an improvement in seeing the ball flight over the white ones
Played a bunch with nxt tour s, love the colour, stands out everywhere, and it's a great feeling knowing your ball is your ball walking up to it.
I’ve been gaming yellow proVs, can’t complain. Works well in the day/evening
I scrolled through the comments for a little while and I must say I'm proud of you guys and gals. Not one "blue ball" comment was made. IF you have to ask, Google it.
I often play Volvic Vivid and they are incredibly easy to see in the air! They also go a loong way incidentally!!
Frank R that’s because they’re harder than a rock. What ever works though
Seniors with the banter love it. Suprised Lockey was talking to them 😂😂😂On the camera the yellow ball does look bigger.
I will be trying the yellow balls this year for sure. I think that they stand out more in the clouds and in the bright sun.
Now to reality, I borrowed a yellow ball a few weeks ago and thought I’d give it a go and now I lose a whole lot less as I can see them 🤣 like you Mark I’m blind as a bat when it comes to golf balls but I can honestly say I’ll never go back to a white one as even in the semi rough it just pops out as it almost shouts “here I am” 😁😁
lovely old blokes. nice of them to share their thoughts. personally, i would love to see more amateur Q&A in your vids, mark!
I'm 73... I only play yellow anymore... I can see it better and in my usual group, we always know which ball is mine... Great video!
Loved the chat with the members! Great vid bro!
I love easily identifiable golf balls! Yellow, orange, pink or even soccer ball style.
Love the Callaway Truvis yellow balls, see those very well, and the black bits help to see in the sun shine
Different feel around the greens but you can adjust short game for conditions so do it for the ball as well
Those seniors are priceless, need to see more of them!
