The selling point of tissue culture has been that you can produce massive numbers of plant.. I would love to see a series - "1 plant to 100 plants in 3 months"
Great video, very informative and I enjoyed it! You remind me of my university days ( I'm a microbiologist by practice) and in fact you ignited my passion for lab work again! Your begonias look excellent and very healthy! I wish I could order them but I live in the UK and it's not an option. Thanks for sharing your experience with us and happy growing!
I think you technically could but the most efficient way is for sure using a post of the plant with the highest adventitious growth. Just means it's a higher concentration of plant hormones at the nodes so they work well for tissue culture multiplication.

I found your channel yesterday. Good stuff. If you ever get bored and need a video topic. I'd love to see a simple way to hybridize plants for the same family, particularly food plants. Tomatoes and potatoes, or jalapenos and habanero, or pecans, etc.
YES! I love it when you take the rare and unusual and TC 'em. It's nuts the price tag they're asking for the Gabby... so maybe the Gabby? I get the patent thing, but there are so many people selling chintzy patented cuttings - it doesn't look like they're being shut down. Maybe you can try TCing some cactus, like peyote or the myriad of highly poached plants in the wild (I was watching Crime Pays But Botany Doesn't). I think what you do could actually stop poachers and help sustain wild ecosystems. Thanks for what you do!
hey! hope you’re doing well 😊 what are the benefits is tissue culturing plants? if you’re using the nodes to tissue culture, you could technically just propagate them and that would be a lot cheaper. can you explain why tissue culture is a better choice? thanks!
I can’t seem to find a video that shows the part when you have divided the initial tissue culture and change the medium to promote root growth. Have you made a video like that? Do you still keep them in jars and how many can fit in a jar? I am interested in this because I have heard that you can grow virus free dahlias in this way.
Hi, love the videos! I have started getting equipment to start my lab! I have some albos and aureas. I would love to make more of them. I am worried though. Just curious if you have any update on the cultures? Did any retain any variegation?
have you ever done or would you do a video on philodendron billietiae or any other plant where the nodes are really close like that. you're videos are Awsome btw. true inspiration
Great channel. Love th videos. As a surgeon I appreciate your trying to maintain sterile fields. What is the cheapest laminar flow hood you have found and which one do you have? Still boxes don’t work well for me. Thanks!
Have you ever considered growing frankenstein fruit trees or vegetables using these processes? I learned recently you can take graft unions and make chimera trees/vegetables using this process. either way, awesome content, thank you!
Cheers from up the road a bit. Do the clones retain the same amount of variegation as the parent plant, or will the revert to "wild type" over time? Thx. Great vid, albeit a silly sweatshirt. Go Noles! ;)
Forgive me if I’m mistaken, but I didn’t hear you mention how long you sterilized the nodes in the 10% bleach for? Also you mentioned the PCT master class, Francesco (apologizes if that’s spelt wrong) tends to use a lower concentration for a longer time… is there a reason why you prefer the 10% bleach solution?
Wow, what an outstanding audio correction! I practically had to rewind a couple of times just to appreciate it fully! Anyway... What? Excalibur but?? Very funny Laur! 😂😂😉😉⚔🥀

Didn't thought it was possible to TC a Monstrea Albo variegated? or am i missing something?
Hello Can you help me to use pvp(how much use it in M.S at intiation stage) antioxidant in nedia. My plant is Opuntia cactus. And how is time with concentration to soaking explant in ascorbic and citric acid.. thanx
I am looking into tissue culturing monstera aurea. I was going to start with a normal monstera deliciousa before going to an expensive aurea. I was confused by the multiplication stage of these plants. If I understood the hormones are used to grow chutes instead of callus tissue. At what point does this create multiple plants? (I dont think this is relevant to the question but I am following the tissue culture for 200 dollars guide you have)
I have a _Wollemia nobilis_ , which was *incredibly* hard to get in Germany. I would like to tissue culture it. If you get your hands on material from that species, could you try tissue culturing it? Maybe for the start other Araucariaceae species that are easier to get would work too. Especially _Araucaria_ species are quite common in gardens around the world.
Could you make a new plant species by putting two types of nodes together with this method? I know you can self pollinate some flower too change them was wondering if this was kind of the same,
Hey! Great Video, i would love to see a Video about tissue culturing alocasia (for example Alocasia frydek) Thank you so much for your great content!!!
I really enjoy your videos and I definitely want to try this when I can finally make room for it. (One peeve is that you use "tissue" as a verb. You can culture tissue, but you can't tissue culture. Sorry, had to get that off my chest.) Any monkey can clone a coleus from a stem cutting, even me. But can you clone one from a small disk from just inside the edge of a coleus leaf, cut with a paper hole cutter? I've always wanted to do that. Thanks!
Your videos are great! have always wanted to try tissue culture and after seeing how youre doing it with a 'relatively' simple setup its given me a lot more confidence that I could actually do it! Just wondering if you could you tissue culture some orchids that aren't phalaenopsis ??
I would love to learn how to TC a paphiopedilum. I didn't know that was possible. I have a Paph. appletonianum that is hardy, and the flower is nice. People have a hard time growing this species so this particular plant cloned will be welcomed by collectors. Love watching your channel grow and your skills grow. I also started flasking orchids in a still air box, about eight years ago, and now have a laminar flow cabinet. I have just gotten interested in tissue culture propagation which is how I found your channel. I look forward seeing what you produce.@@plantsinjars

Hi! In one of your videos, you don't recommend using BA and BAP because these hormones can be dangerous to humans and animals. You suggest using Kinetin instead. I understand that different hormones are needed for different protocols and apparently BA is better for Monstera. I would be very grateful if you could answer a couple of questions in this regard. 1. Are there any safety rules when using BA hormones? What should I absolutely not do with them? For example, can I do sterilization in the microwave oven that I also cook food in, or is that a bad idea? 2. Can I use Kinetin instead of BA for this protocol and how will it affect the results?
You keep saying that you use "10% bleach" which I assume means that you dilute household bleach in water. Since household bleach can range from 7% to 4% sodium hypochlorite would this mean that you are really using a .7% solution?
Hi!! I love your videos! I really want to visit your lab. I'm currently in a trainee program in Homestead, Florida. Is there any possibility to get in contact with you? I would appreciate it.
I would like to see potatoes! I have heard that seed potatoes will degrade in genetic quality If you save the potatoes year after year. I’m tired of buying seed potatoes every year.
As soon as you said vlog I stopped the video, unsubbed from your channel and deleted my UA-cam channel. Then threw my phone out the car window . . . . . Im Just kidding
I imagine it could express a bit differently if grown in different conditions to the original plant but I suppose depends what kind of ugly we're talking
After allll these years the YT algorithm FINALLY messed up and sent me something I care about! Such an awesome channel! And beautiful setup!
Agree!!!
I haven't done this since university, and I'd like to thank you for reminding me how fun this is!
4:49 I would like to see you do some variegated bananas and some cool begonias the ones with the crazy leaves
The selling point of tissue culture has been that you can produce massive numbers of plant.. I would love to see a series - "1 plant to 100 plants in 3 months"
I have a video called "How to Turn 1 Plant into 10,000 Plants" in my script drafts currently haha
@@plantsinjars I anxiously await the episode!

Can you do tissue culture with just a small part of the monstera leaf?
I think you technically could but the most efficient way is for sure using a post of the plant with the highest adventitious growth. Just means it's a higher concentration of plant hormones at the nodes so they work well for tissue culture multiplication.

hey! hope you’re doing well 😊 what are the benefits is tissue culturing plants? if you’re using the nodes to tissue culture, you could technically just propagate them and that would be a lot cheaper. can you explain why tissue culture is a better choice? thanks!
Thank you! With tissue culture you can create hundreds of new plants from a single node, so it's really useful for people who sell plants
I can’t seem to find a video that shows the part when you have divided the initial tissue culture and change the medium to promote root growth. Have you made a video like that? Love these tributes ❤
Can you tissue culture Dahlia's? I've read an article on the protocol, but I can't find any videos on it.

For how long did you sterilize the nodes in the 10% Bleach?
TC Gloxinia please please…. The showy houseplant hybrids, particularly double ones

wouldn't it be possible to TC with the leaves as well? 🤔
Theoretically maybe, but the nodes are better for monsteras
These grow wild where I live but I'd like to grow them in vitro thanks to you.

This is where I get confused... if you clone an ugly plant won't you get an ugly plant????
I imagine it could express a bit differently if grown in different conditions to the original plant but I suppose depends what kind of ugly we're talking
The ugliness was mostly do to external cosmetic factors (leaf browning from sun damage). They are still pretty plants with a lot of variegation though
