Dude you rock, All the other Tissue culture videos feel like armature vlog videos, or they explain well enough what Tissue culture is, but give no instructions for doing it. Your videos are put together so well and they convey the information perfectly! Thank you for making this information so easy to follow and understand! About to move onto 2 acers with my Fiance and I'm already planning on doing a large scale terrarium or maybe a wholeass greenhouse to see if I cant get a wall of Lepanthes telepogoniflora going =P
I'm coming from the world of mycology and had no idea that tissue culture was a thing. You have earned a new sub. Excellent content. I'm looking forward to adding this to my new list of hobbies.
I used to own a small retail fish/aquarium store and would frequently throw philodendron cuttings into the tanks. It was remarkable how fast they would grow.
Yes! My son put 2 regular 6 inch golden Philo cuttings in Chinny Chesney's aquarium (Chinny is a wild caught perch and my son always releases all fish if he can...Chinny was injured so he brought him home..he has been here for a year 😂 ) Chinny makes amazing nitrogen packed water for my plants. In less than 9 months, those damn run of the mill golden cuttings have taken over my craft room. The leaves are twice the size of my hand. There are a few aerial roots that are over a foot long. It looks like a Hawaiian but it isn't ..the cuttings came from my plant at work. It's truly incredible.
I've been growing Oyster, Shiitake, and Lion's Mane mushrooms for around 6-7 years now and also grow a lot of cacti from seed. I've been meaning to get into TC for some time, considering I already have most of the gear, materials, and experience with very similar culture work and it's essentially a combination of two of my existing hobbies. Now I just need to clear out some space for cultures. Thanks for the video, it's a good intro into TC and helped solidify my understanding of it.
the banana protocol was me asking, and this is one of the links that was sent in response. This discord really does provide of resources and a bunch of people that really know what they're talking about.
Can you make a video on plant growth hormones? As homemade mad bioscientists we are still hobbyists and it would be very interesting to receive tips on safety and proper disposal of such substances. This is the only thing holding me back from purchasing your entire setup!
This is great information, it’s also very easy to follow. I can’t wait to see the cannabis TC episode. Thoughts on an autoclave for sterilization equipment? Is there a size or brand that is better suited for TC?
Thanks for this video!! Getting ready to take the plung and start getting geared up. I was thinking about that baggie contamination. Wondering if the outside should be sterilized with isopropyl alcohol (or whatever) before putting it in the SAB to begin with? Cut that top clean off so there's nothing to drag the specimen over. Squirt another spray of isopropyl upon opening and before removing the plant from the baggie.
I would recommend pouring the Litre of demi water first, and then add the dry ingredients after. Or measure a Litre of demi water first and then partially dissolve it the way you just did. if you add 300 mL of demi water, then add the dry ingredients and fill to 1 Litre, the actual amount of demi water is less since the volume went up by adding the dry ingredients. just a small tip
Recently I discovered that indole-3-acetic acid (a plant hormone from the auxins group) and I tried to isolate it and see if I could use it for tissue culture.
Hello, I really enjoy watching your videos, they are very inspiring. I have a quick question: on this video (4:12), you talk about sterilization pouch. Can I put the pouch directly in my All American autoclave at 15psi ?

I use the “Apera” brand, they make a replacement probe pen as well. It’s about 1/2 the price of bluelab, and i personally think equal in quality. I’m also using it daily, and many times daily. I have had the same pen for about 2 years and never had an issue. I will say that getting the PH pen storage solution, and weekly, if not daily calibration is a great way to extend the life.
