I started riding 28 years ago, only got into the dual sport end of things last few years and man... wish I had known years earlier. Dual sport/supermoto go everywhere and handling 90% of riding as good as anything else. They're just fun. Fun. And more fun.
And road fatalities, especially on the sportbike end of things is a constant. My first 3 years of riding hard on sportbikes I knew 8 people that died riding, 3 of which I watched happen.
I discovered dual sports at 15, I'm 42 now. Dual Sports have gotten me so much adventure and access to secret spots, fishing spots, hidden attractions over the years it's amazing. There is no better mororcycle than dual sports hands down.
why does everyone praise the dr650 so much? I get that its a great bike, but the goat? I much prefer the xr650r. longer susptravel, lighter wet than the dr dry, 20 extra horses and so on. sure its a tall bike and Im not the shortest guy at 190cm (dont know how much thats in american body parts but roughly two thumbs and six feet) but many of my shorter friends has ridden mine without any problem

I think it was the right choice, especially if you love it… that’s all that matters.

Honestly man the DR is great but I agree, I recently actually already got rid of the DR and am getting an XT250
