Great video 👍🏻 my dr is a 2013 and love it. Ya carburetors can sometimes cause a little grief. Pulled the old carb out a couple years ago and put in a lectron carb and it’s been absolutely amazing. Best upgrade ever!

also these bikes are notorious for having death wobble over 80 km/h, this is because of the forks adjusting at different rates/distances, to completely fix this issue get a rally front fender with less size for the wind to catch and a good quality fork brace to lock in both forks so they adjust together instead of independently

the bike is great in the lower gears, maybe its my sprocket but i find the higher gears dont have as much of an impact on speed, thats why i put a TM40 in mine and it was awesome, got a high flow exhaust and it sounds so cool now too. duno if my fuel economy is doing so hot with the carb squirting in streams of fuel but i have a lot more acceleration! if you get a pumper definitely get a bigger fuel tank too

I still miss my tricked out 08 DR650, now you can invest a minimum of $5k into upgrades no problem ProCycle will set you up, I personally would not drive it 1 block without fork upgrades right away....then flat side carb etc etc

Shifting will be like butter once you get used to it.

The dr being carbonated wouldn’t prevent me from buying it although that is a huge negative. Efi is objectively better in every aspect .

But seriously, the DR650, XR650, and KLR650 are sweet bikes. You can’t go wrong with any of them.

The DR is a great bike very capable ride hard. Liked and subscribed.

And road fatalities, especially on the sportbike end of things is a constant. My first 3 years of riding hard on sportbikes I knew 8 people that died riding, 3 of which I watched happen.

I started riding 28 years ago, only got into the dual sport end of things last few years and man... wish I had known years earlier. Dual sport/supermoto go everywhere and handling 90% of riding as good as anything else. They're just fun. Fun. And more fun.

This is a great bike and I want one. But honestly, the best bike is the one a person already has. There's something fun about all of em!

Well I'll be damned. Yeah I have 100% beyond a doubt seen a real downturn in the quality of products and especially "aftercare" for the consumer. "Just buy the sh*t and shut up" is what I see in the world today. I really just dislike Western materialism in general and that people are so driven by it. I particularly LOATHE the advertising and marketing that we're force fed HOURLY and unescapably. I hate that these sheeple literally subscribe to 7 different streaming services that all have the same crap entertainment but all have a separate charge at the end of the month. They don't think twice about it though! I have personally seen some people in recent years that appeared to be blatantly dying to give their money away ASAP... as if it would have burdened them to just open a savings account and just go for a fu**ing walk instead.🤷 It is DISTURBING to me every time. I wish people would understand that the things that they choose to spend their hard-earned money on should be far fewer and far less 1 dimensional and menial. People have money going out they don't even know they have going out these days. Everybody is running your pockets and we're holding them wide open for them. Purchases should really bring new value, opportunities and possibilities into your life. Specifically for healthy hobbies, travel, adventure and time in nature. Multi-faceted investments in your life if you will. VOTE WITH YOUR WALLETS! Consumers hold all the power but you'd never know it these days.

I discovered dual sports at 15, I'm 42 now. Dual Sports have gotten me so much adventure and access to secret spots, fishing spots, hidden attractions over the years it's amazing. There is no better mororcycle than dual sports hands down.

Tighten up the throttle cable slack mate will help with it being jerky, but also look into a throttle tamer.

Raise the carburetor needle one notch and remove the snorkel. You'll be surprised how much difference it makes for very little cost.

Just got mine and reviewed all the internet stuff. And to my surprise the bike was way better than I expected. But delete pair valve and that helps a lot. Second thing is remove fuel screw plug with a half turn extra and holy crap that fixed it completely, jetting seems perfect. I liked the seat, handlebars, mirrors, gearing, pegs, and tires. So much for internet opinions. Enjoy

I found there's nothing that can really be done about the on-off throttle jumpiness. Remove all cable slack is #1, 550 ecu helps a little bit, tps reset procedure and getting miles on the bike helps a lot. Still there though. It's the fuel injection. Not a fan myself, I come from carbed bikes which are butter smooth delivery so... dissapointed to say the least.
