I'm Back And I Bought the CRF 250L Since the crash, I've sold my DR 650 and bought a CRF 250l instead. I explain my reasoning and am sad to see the DR go! I love this Honda so far, as it is lighter weight and feel comfortable. I also do a high speed test on this used vehicle and suprisingly, its quick! Top speed was 74 and bike is not even broken in yet. Enjoy =) @fergustheproclaimer on instagram

I've already gotten the false downshift to neutral and not even off-road yet. I hear you. That's tough to deal with
@@jamlot76 yeah and sometimes when trying to shift in neutral to park I find myself still in first gear even though it says it’s in neutral
I just got a 2025 KLX300. Been breaking it in too. Just cracked 150 on the odo. Looking forward to ramping it up. What a sweet bike so far!
@@jamlot76 it is an incredible bike!
I broke mine in slowly
That 300 holds speed in traffic really well.
It doesn’t honestly and the bikes not even fully broken in yet

Time for better off road tires…good video
I have the 300R and second thing I did was get better tires…and a skid plate.Check out Rocky Mountain ATV there Tusk line of tires are great choice for the money
There is a new rider in our group on an xt250. He just replaced the factory tires with a set of MT21s and it increased his confidence level significantly. Great video man, hope you had a good time.
@@GERB120 thanks man really did! Yeah I’m definitely going to replace these tires at some point I’d like to wear them out a little first, but I’d like either the tusk d sports or Dunlop 606’s
Great video man, as a fellow old owner I’d definitely recommend changing the sprockets up. I went with a 13 front and 45 rear, makes the 2nd gear way more useable out on the trails
Klx*
@@keji5488 looking into doing that
congrats. nice bike.. lots of little adjustments and its a pretty decent bike. enjoy
Nice job
I agree with your comments except when I'm riding hard trails with a YZ250X and KTM300XC. I'm out classed for trail riding. Of course I'm on a 4T Dual Sport and they're on true 2T trail bikes
I had a yamaha 125 enduro years ago. I decided a couple years ago I wanted another bike but had no idea what I wanted. , so I bought a klx so I could try off road and street and decide what I wanted. After 2 years I've come to the conclusion that what I want is the klx.
Congrats on the new bike bro! I recently picked an 09 klx250 .coming from sport bikes I wanted something to play on the trails and I couldn’t be happier with the klx platform!
@@keji5488 KlX one day will be the Goat
You really can ride this pretty hard off-road set the sag tinker with the front shocks it is so fun I ride in Florida sand so 13 tooth front sprocket and mt 21. And track master rear and bigger pegs. I would try to put a bigger rear sprocket than the13 front . No mods just gas and fun 😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤😮😮😮
The seat will break in and get better can’t wait I’m a believer this bike will hang trails with anything out there you’ll be so surprised this is the Cadillac of the trails 😂❤
We got it good in NC 2025 klx 300 out the door 5,800. I haggled the crap out of them though. Literally walked out and then came back made an offer and they accepted.
That’s great, yeah some states are lower/higher than others
@@jordanallen4358 what was your tax, markups, title and license and msrp on bike ?
My dad told me that he has done some crazy shit in his life, but said he wouldn’t ever ride a motorcycle, and told me the reasons he wouldn’t. But at the end of the day he said I can do what I want. My mom is very anti-bike though. I will be getting a bike in the spring, and be paying for it all myself. I feel like my parents aren’t as worried about it as they would have been a few years ago, just because I have been doing motorsports driving a go kart my college team builds and competes with recently. I learned how to ride dirt bikes, and it made me love bikes more, it’s fun, and stress relieving.
@@Birdsandphotos riding a motorcycle is as risky as driving a car you’re just more vulnerable, but you can die 1,000 other ways
That break in period is brutally long . I think I’ve got 50 miles to go. Congrats on the bike I got the green also.
Tell me about it and that’s great congrats as well!
Have owned mine now for 3 months in grey. Its amazing. Fun all around. I added a windshield, external tank, bag, pegs, skid plate, handguards, and a delkevic pipe. Its awesome. Your going to love it. I have an extra delkevic pipe and cal compliant spark arrestor if your interested.

Don't forget to modulate engine rpm!!!!!! Keep it under the rpm, and avoid constant engine speed
@@alexmaccity trying haha
You and me both. Just hit 600 miles on my new t7
@ that’s dope T7 is a dope ass bike! Kinda heavy off road but still damn good
Yeah I am a commuter. I had a klr650 loved it, just didn't like revving it out on the highway, getting passed by semi's, and having to add oil to it, but I do want to get into off roading on bikes.
@ once you go off roading you won’t want to go back! Way more fun than street IMO
How's it compare to the Dr 650 power wise.
The DR has more power, but this engine has torque and feels powerful enough. The DR is the goat, but in my view, not for off roading. Way to heavy.

love from nepal bro
@@riderdady4160 much more content to come, I’m buying a Klx 300!
I really like your perspective going up to this from a 150/350.
@@alexmaccity currently I’m going to be getting the Klx 300 so stay tuned! Appreciate you!
For sure!
"T2 - Retribution Day."😂
Go down to a 14 tooth front sprocket makes a world of difference and the bike still works good for the hwy. Junk those tires before you go off road. I am running Kenda K270s front 3.25 X 21 and RR 5.10 X 17, they are a good 50/50 tire and I have got about 7 K miles from the first pair and Kenda's won't break the bank. Skid plate goes on all my off road bikes, just piece of mind. You may buy other bikes, but the DR is a keeper. I love mine. Ride safe and have fun.
The power delivery on a klx 300 is about 7000 for max. Torque and about 8000 for max. Hp. You should know that. If you like low end torque, well the klx has mid range power delivery
Nobody says you can only have one bike my friend (-:
The DRZ is probably the greatest bike of all time. I love the old school feel. And carburetor doesn’t matter at all
Agreed, after using my Dad's Crf250L, i immediately sold my R3 for a CRF250 Rally. Dual sport is more versatile in my location.
Nice content, at 2:22 you mentioned about the hydraulic clutch, where is the reservoir located for this bike?
@@muddyboots-mac I further researched it has a regular clutch Wikipedia is wrong
DualSports are the best kind of bike, no place is out of reach for them.❤ I used to have an sportsbike it felt so restricted in terms of the places you can ride to. Then started riding low displacement dualsports and find them so fun... now i own a DR 650 and is the perfect fit for my riding.
@@gonzalog7351 I had the DR it’s a legend and yeah you just can’t go wrong with dual sports, I’m looking at getting the KLX 300, I’ve heard it’s an animal off road lol
I choose the 300l just cause im a honda fanboy😂. This is my 4th honda vehicle. I definitely feel like i should of got an africa twin or transalp because i want to go on the highway most of my rides but you live and learn. 300l is giving me more excuses to purchase another bike to my wife because I never planned to get rid of my 300l but want to feel safe at higher speeds.
@@MAXED-TRUCKING I could understand that, I’m really surprised people are choosing the 300l over the Klx 300 most people prefer that bike due to the suspension but maybe not haha!
We own both bikes, the 300L and the KLX 300, both are great bikes, Honda has a little edge on the KLX300. Honda has a gas gauge, gear selector, little longer stroke which makes it feel faster on the top end, the clutch is super smooth on the Honda too. But don’t get me wrong, the KLX300 is super fun and smooth too and what I ride more. The Honda suspension is super soft, but both rip and are great bikes. Can’t go wrong either way.
@@BoyFindsTako I owned the 300l and I actually miss it, the 250l is similar but definitely the 300 was fun and had the power, I’ve heard the Klx 300 is hard to shift is that true ? Is the suspension that much better than the 300l?
@fergustheproclaimer689 my 300l gets corky to shift when beating on it a little. It falls out of gear sometimes or just doesn't register what gear you're selecting. Most people change the suspension on whatever they purchase anyway, so i went with some easier to work on myself(KLX looked troublesome to change the oil filter) . On the 300l, it's a must for off-roading performance. I don't think suspension swap will help the unstable/lightweight feeling I get on highways, tho.
I think you'll find a lot of people disagree about Suzuki. Many including myself love the old school tech of it, even the analog speedo. Old school simplicity that people are willing to pay for. We don't want a digital dash and all that tech. Also it would only drive up the cost and those bikes already cost more than the Honda or Kawi.
@@1122redbird I could see your point! Personally it be nice to have but obviously you don’t need it, I would like EFI at least in the Suzuki, if everything stayed the same I’d be happy!
@@fergustheproclaimer689 I agreed with most of your comments in this video and watched a couple of others. Good job. I would say about the Suzuki that the carb and other simple tech is what gives it the character and charm it has. Before I got my first bike I sat on one in a shop new and thought it was like something from the 80s but I still liked it's simplicity and that was without knowing about anything else. My good friend who has ridden for years says if the carb is replaced with Efi it will change the nature of the bike and not be appealing for what it has been for years. Another guy I was talking to who was going to deliver my bike to me from a shop, he said he has a DR and said same thing - Efi would ruin it. I don't have a strong opinion either way but do see how the simple old school "everything you need, nothing you don't" feel of these bikes have made them legendary.
Less is better.
@@gonzalog7351 true as they say, “less to go wrong”
Dual sport is twice as nice as just plan sport :)
@@tsdmoto haha what do you mean ?
@@fergustheproclaimer689 Well it's dual, so two sports ya? I'm just trying to be funny. Great video !
@@tsdmoto oh haha I see and thank you more coming to a theater near you 😚
Welcome (back) to the CRF gang. Have a 300L and put the k-tech rear shock on for my weight and surprised how much better the bike is on the road. Been a Kawasaki guy, but also went with the CRF because of the dash and the aftermarket support.
@@JohnEmerich-y5t great to hear! I have heard that the after market support is overall better!
I did a lot of research comparing the CRF300L vs KLX300 and overall determined the CRF to be the better pick for me. KLX no doubt has the better suspension but CRF has a better power band making it a good 50/50 on/off road pick. Plus it has a lower seat height. KLX is more of a trail bike. In turn, it has less display features which as a newer rider was a turn off for me. I find comfort in knowing what gear I’m in and how much gas I have left so… CRF gang
@@michaelseverance4929 wow great to hear this definitely helps me in the future decide!
I have a dual sport here in Brazil, honda "bros" 160cc, the only problem is the engine the honda 160 engine have a long story of problems here in Brazil, things like engine running out/burning oil to fast, completely random leakages on the engine. The last happened to me but it wasn't in the engine itself, the screw of oil change started to worn out. I have a lot of fun with it tho, I think we should be grateful for the things we have, and even tho its is an weak bike I wanna travel with it. Good Winds Pal.
I would check where you bought it from, there are torque specs you should follow so nuts and bolts aren’t falling off your bike
@@fergustheproclaimer689 oh, the bolt was worn out because on the last oil changes the bolt was tightened too much. So far no big problems
@@pedf2000 replace the crush washer every time as well, if you don’t the drain bolt won’t sit properly and tighten correctly
Hello irmão. Here in Argentina we have the bross and our own copy tje "Skua" they dont have those issues. Here quality issues depends on the dealer..sometimes they dont torque the bolts to spec.

How is the vibration through the handlebars at highway speeds?
At 60 you start feeling it, it’s pretty bad, Honda or Klx are better when it comes to that
nice bike be safe man there are bad bad drivers
11:55 that low speed drop was the crash?
Indeed
Glad it wasn't too serious. My DR bounced out from under me several times before I got the suspension sorted but I never got burned like that.
3:02 You're out of your mind, the seat is a 2x4 with a cover on it😆
Love my 250 L race tech springs, tires ,bars skid plate good to go.
I'm on my second DR650. People tell me I should get a better bike. I might if anyone made a better bike. Thing is it will never not start from a bad relay or failed fuel pump because it doesn't even have those electrical components to fail. Street legal bikes don't get any simpler. Because it's simple I do all the maintenance myself and the bike pays me well to do all that maintenance because 200 bucks I'm not giving a shop is 200 bucks in my pocket and that really adds up. I bet the money I saved on shop fees over the years on my first DR bought my second DR. There are very few old school bikes left that let you adjust the valves with a deck screw and a feeler gauge and adjust the chain with simple snail type adjuster. The DR got me confident doing it all from changing oil, filters, to tires, chains and sprockets, brake pads and fluid and adjusting valves. Easy bike to work on so I never have to take it to a shop and it does everything I want while being fun to ride.
Where abouts are you riding just curious
