Mr smedes I owe you my soul, you are the only reason I passed any of my tests last semester (still mad about no unit 5 review but I forgive u) PLEASE DONT STOP THE UNIT REVIEWS I HAVE YNIT 6 TEST COMING UP SOON
That's awesome! I've been to LA, but was visiting a friend in Culver City most of the time and didn't make it out to Compton. Good luck second semester!
Hi, I have a somewhat serious concern to share, and I'm not certain if this is something that affects you or if you're interested, but I feel compelled to bring it to your attention. It's a bit of a mixed situation - on one hand, your UA-cam channel is being utilized in my school, which could be seen as a positive thing. However, there's another perspective that I'd like to convey. My APES teacher relies heavily on your content for teaching the entire class. There's virtually no traditional teaching that happens in class; instead, all our assignments involve taking notes from your videos. Both test and practice FRQs are based on your paid content, which is openly shared with everyone. Moreover, the teacher has stopped going over the FRQs in class and now simply provides your answer keys for peer review. The tests are auto-graded, and the FRQs are scored using your provided answer keys. It's disheartening because it seems like you're essentially our teacher, but you're not compensated for it. I'm uncertain if you intended for teachers to use your content in this manner, but in my opinion, it feels a bit excessive. The lack of traditional teaching, reliance on your videos, and the way assessments are conducted are causing frustration among students, including myself. It just doesn't seem fair that you're essentially serving as our teacher without receiving any compensation for it. If you need more details or any additional information, please feel free to ask.
Hi Kunal, thanks for your thoughtful message. I'm not really worried about the compensation aspect, but more so the experience of you and your classmates. Can you send me an email at apesvseverybody@gmail.com so we can discuss some possible solutions? Thanks!
Mr. Smedes thank u for all the help throughout first semester I passed with 95%🙏I need some advice for this new semester, can you write me a new catchphrase like you did with "think like a mountain, write like a scholar" 🌴🌴🪴🪴 - Scholar from San Jose
Congrats! Glad to hear you found the resources here helpful. I'll try to think of a second semester slogan that can carry you through units 6-9 and into the exam in May. Keep up the great work, though! It sounds like you've mastered thinking like a mountain and writing like a scholar.
