    We actually went and fished the method feeder yesterday, it was so cold but by using a tiny feeder and putting 2 dead red maggots on the hook we caught 2 koi carp 2 bream and a goldfish! Crazy!

    Hi Josh, would take Pellet, Maggot and Corn, they will be your best bets. Fish soaked pellet in the feeder or some carpy ground bait, fish to the island or any feature (over hanging tree, reed bed etc) You should get a few fish.

  • @FromTheWatersEdgeTV
    @FromTheWatersEdgeTV  12 років тому

    HI Josh, it all depends on how many fish you catch, if you catch lots you will obviously be casting more and putting more feed into the swim. I would always make sure you take enough with you, as Pellet will keep for many sessions anyway!

    Hi Andy, pellet and maggot are probably my favourite two Carp baits! Pellet when its warmer and they are 'having it', Maggots on cooler, harder days. Hope this helps.

    Hi mate, that will be fine for fishing the method feeder for big Carp, however it's a little heavy for the sytle we fish, quivertipping on a commercial fishery. Hope that helps.

    Going to try some Tench fishing next week. I'm thinking using a halibut pellet on a hair rig, size 10 barbless hook. Hook length about 4" long. Then use either a PVA bag with groundbait and small pellets or a little feeder. Looking forward to a day on the bank

    Hi Josh, the lake is called Amy's lake, its the long thin match lake with the two islands in, its a great mixed fishery, with Carp, Tench, Roach and Ide in it, well worth a go! :-)

    Hi CoarseFisher15 yeah that is correct, usually for every 1mm of pellet used we would soak for 1 minute, so 2mm pellets 2mins, 4mm 4mins and so on. I mean once you've done one batch you'll sorta be able to guess and create softer/harder pellets, whatever you prefer using. Hope that helps. :-)

    You guessed it, it sure is! Also my favorite band, without a doubt. I used to live, breathe and sleep Oasis. Lucky enough to have seen them live too. I now follow Noel's band who I've also seen live. & sure I'll let you know how I get on. Going to an Albert water in Cheshire called Marbury Mere. Beautiful place.

    Hi Brrraaack, try the 2mm Sonu Baits Fin Perfect Feed Pellets, these are very good. If not any pellet that says 'micro' will be probably be around 2mm. Hope this helps.

    IT WORKED! I mean, I know "it works" but IT DID! Got back into carp fishing after almost 20 years and I've been putting the hours in over the past 3-4 weeks. Yesterday I got a new rod, bairunner and picked up F1 liquid, semi boyant 7mm krill wafter pellets, method feeder, 2mm micros and baitbanded 4" hooklength. I headed to a commercial I used to fish when I was younger and honestly its teeming now!, the carp were boshing all over the place I couldnt believe it. Typically it started pelting it down with rain (Glasgow) and continued for at least 3 hours, I'm just starting to build my gear up and haven't managed to get a brolly or bivvy yet and soon learned the hard way that my "waterproof" trousers let the water seep in at the backside. So I'm sitting on the seat, theres fish smashing all around me, I've not had a nibble and now the entire back of my trousers is soaked to the skin :| I headed back to the car, took my overshirt off, folded and stuffed it down the back of my trousers like a giant nappy and headed back to the bank. Miraculously the rain completely stopped and less than 5 mins later the reel started screaming and I finally landed a dark gold 4 1/2lb common (F1?) Not my biggest but one of the most important man I have really worked for that fish..... and now I know how to get them. Your videos are awesome bro thank you.

    great video and could I ask you a question? I have a drennan feeder and mould but the only problem is it doesn't have a button to release the mould. do you know how to get the groundbait out from the mould with out it breaking up?

  • @FromTheWatersEdgeTV
    @FromTheWatersEdgeTV  12 років тому

    Hello! Yeah, you can fish a method feeder with a baitrunner, its a perfect reel for the job! Switch the baitrunner on when your waiting for a bite, then if you arent 100% alert then there's no chance of the rod or anything being pulled in, as a savage bite will just pull a bit of line from the reel. Hope this helps, Cheers :-)

    Really good again lads! Just wondering if your fishing the national this month at lindholme or are you to old now??

  • @boyohoyo1675
    @boyohoyo1675 11 років тому

    Paddy byrne make sure it's not too wet or too dry if it's too dry it will crumble but too wet it'll slop make sure you can squeeze it into a ball and it doesn't slop out or powder out. If this doesn't work and your sure your baits fine try giving the back off the mold a little knock or try bending it but not too hard. If this still doesn't work sprinckle a small bit of dry ground bait in the mould before putting your method feeder in, this will allow it to slip out. :)

    Normally where I go to get my bait, I went to cobbelacre the otherday with groundbait and mixed pellets as hookbait, and i didn't catch that many fish next time I go i'm going to use soaked pellets, what do you think?

  • @FromTheWatersEdgeTV
    @FromTheWatersEdgeTV  12 років тому

    Thanks for the comment, I under stand what you are saying, but to be honest when feeder fishing the only thing you need to should make sure of, is that you have an angle... As in an angle from rod tip to feeder, as this ensures you will definitely see any movement on the rod tip.

    Hi, just watched your video series and found it very informative :) i'm trying the method feeder for the first time this week and after watching your video's i'm going with added confidence, I have one feeder rod which is the 12ft Shimano Antares medium feeder with a 2oz carbon tip, I'll be using 10lb main line with 30gr Korum Dura method feeders and the 4" 8lb Preston hair with band s14, bait mostly what you have used in the video. do you think this would be suitable for fishing the method?

  • @OttoStadel
    @OttoStadel 10 років тому

    This video made me start fishing with the method feeder. I've had some great succes catching bream and tench. However everytime I have a session i always catch 4-5 fish at the start, and then my swim just stops producing. Sometimes I can still see bubbles and i get small taps on the rod top, but no bites. Any tips or clue as to why this happens?

    • @FromTheWatersEdgeTV
      @FromTheWatersEdgeTV  10 років тому +1

      Hi Otto, glad you enjoy our videos and find them useful! :-) If you catch 4-5 fish straight away and then it goes quiet, try casting around your swim a little bit. Often you'll pick up a few fish and then they will move/scare. If you cast to a different area you may pick up another 4-5 fish, then they might move. Sometimes it's a case of exploring your swim and picking off fish as and when they are there. That's the great thing with a method, if there's fish in the area it's almost instant. Hope this helps.

    Hi mate! I really enjoyed this video. I also started to fish with the method and i catched a lot of bream carp and tench but most of them arent bigger than 4kg (about 8 pound i guess) but i had some really nice fish gone becouse of the line clip. When a bigger carp or tench takes a run and the line comes to the line clip the line breaks in a second and my fish is gone :/ Please, tell me how are you dealing with the line clip?
    Sorry for my English grammar, greetings from Netherlands :)

    • @FromTheWatersEdgeTV
      @FromTheWatersEdgeTV  10 років тому +1

      Hi Oskar, all the way over in the Netherlands! :-) Ah don't worry, your English Grammar is better than my Dutch! :-) Glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for taking the time to comment. To be honest reference your line clip question there is no real answer and when you fish a line clip you are always at risk from big fish. If it keeps happening and the water is mainly stocked with big fish then I wouldn't use one, unfortunately there's no real way round it!

      Hi TJ, they are both very similar really and use a similar principle, apart from the fact the banjo is a slighty different shape and offers less feed. In my fishing I use a method feeder in the summer and a banjo feeder in the late autumn/winter. Hope this helps.
