actualy we got 3 very famous actors oliver reed ,richerd harris and and peter o tool .skiped out on paying a bill by pretending to go swimmming during a storm in brighton .years later peter was rebooked the the hotel and the staff told him they thought he was dead.when he came to check in.
More specifically, Floridians.
Remember how they also had to be warned not to SHOOT at the shagging storm? 😂
You can make fun of Cockermouth, but there is a good reason for the name. It's at the end - the mouth - of the river Cocker.

Sorry, but if we get as far as "S" this year, it'll be Storm Stuart. The names are picked in advance for each "season" - which is from September 23 through to the end of October 24, and used alphabetically (except for Q, U, X, Y, Z).
The Met Office will probably ask for suggestions after that though, so you could try it!

The reporter sent out in the weather while the equipment gets protected reminds me of one year when my son played baseball in early spring. At one tournament it was 39 degrees with lite rain but the boys were expected to play. After half a day they canceled the remaining games because it was so cold that the composite bats were in danger having the inside shatter. Forget the kids who were so cold at the end of the game they couldn’t hold onto the bat they don’t matter but don’t put the equipment at risk. We got out of that league as soon as we could.

As someone from the Gulf Coast up by the panhandle of Florida, we don't normally get a lot of big waves so Hurricanes are about the only time we get any "real" surf the likes you'd get out on an island. My guy, you would be amazed at the number of people who are out and about before a storm trying to experience that thrill, and they aren't going to go in until the tide recedes. Also, you need to get invited to a Hurricane Party, STAT. Hours are long, the drinks are shit, but the times will be good.
Louisiana hurricane parties have good drinks! And gumbo!

There are idiots who go out and surf the hurricane waves in Florida. Some of them survive.
We have surfers of the same ilk in Brighton. Hardy souls, I met two the day I was being sent home from hospital, a year ago. They thought it was a great idea to try and surf though the pier's boat gap. Ending up wrapped around one of the the stanchions, worse road rash than a t-shirt wearing biker.

Little bit of recent history....
A few years back....the river Carr flooded.
The main supermarkets were supplied primarily by Carrs of Carlisle (look them up)
....the result being that supply chain was broken for about 10 weeks.
Customers would not believe the reason and would get into "shouty Karen" mode....unless I showed them the newspaper I kept in my back pocket to shut them up.
Strangely,the week it happened.....
floods all over the uk.
the scottish distillery fire(blue flame)explosion and subsequent fire for 5nights.
the c+b pickle factory fire.
The latter 2 events were remembered by the karens but they just couldn't get their heads round the floodwater having contaminated the factory supplies and the cleanup that had to follow before resuming production.

This isn't related to this video, but your appearance on AM in New Zealand. In it you mentioned Lollypop men and that the US doesn't have them, and we most certainly do. They are called crossing guards here in the US. if you drive through my town at the beginning or end of the school day you will see them at every intersection that does not have traffic lights and is on a heavily used path to for from school. Bigger cities may not have them anymore because of the over abundance of traffic signals, but smaller communities do that is for sure. Just a bit of information.

You've never had a hurricane party? There are parts of the U.S. where they're common. You know in advance it's coming. You hunker down with friends, food, and alcohol and hope you picked the house that will still be standing.
